Hechos 26

1 Entonces Agripa dijo a Pablo: Se te permite hablar por ti. Pablo entonces extendiendo la mano, comenzó a dar razón de sí, diciendo:

And Agrippa said to Paul, It is permitted to thee to speak for thyself. Then Paul reaching forth his hand, proceeded with his defence:

2 Acerca de todas las cosas de que soy acusado por los Judíos, oh rey Agripa, téngome por dichoso, de que delante de ti me haya hoy de defender.

O king Agrippa, I consider myself happy, being about this day to make my defence before thee concerning all those things of which I am accused by the Jews:

3 Mayormente porque yo sé que tú entiendes de todas las costumbres y cuestiones que hay entre los Judíos; por lo cual te ruego que me oigas con paciencia.

especially as thou art acquainted with all the customs and questions among the Jews: therefore I pray you to hear me patiently.

4 Mi manera de vivir desde mi mocedad, la cual desde el principio fue entre los de mi nación en Jerusalem, todos los Judíos la saben:

Moreover indeed all the Jews know my life from my youth; being from the beginning in my nation and in Jerusalem,

5 Los cuales tienen ya conocido, si quieren testificar lo, que yo desde el principio, conforme a la secta más estricta de nuestra religión he vivido Fariseo.

knowing me originally, if they may be willing to testify, that according to the most rigid sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.

6 Y ahora por la esperanza de la promesa que hizo Dios a nuestros padres estoy llamado a juicio.

And now for the hope of the promise which is from God to our fathers, I stand being judged:

7 A la cual promesa nuestras doce tribus, sirviendo a Dios perennemente de día y de noche, esperan que han de venir; por la cual esperanza, oh rey Agripa, soy acusado de los Judíos.

unto which our twelve tribes constantly worshiping night and day, hope to attain: concerning which hope I am accused by the Jews, O king.

8 ¿Cómo se juzga cosa increible entre vosotros que Dios resucite los muertos?

Why is it judged by you incredible, if God shall raise the dead?

9 Yo ciertamente había pensado conmigo que debía de hacer muchas cosas contra el nombre de Jesús el Nazareno.

Moreover indeed, I thought to myself that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus the Nazarene:

10 Lo cual también hice en Jerusalem, y yo encerré en cárceles a muchos de los santos, habiendo recibido poderes de los príncipes de los sacerdotes; y cuando les hacían morir, yo di mi voto contra ellos.

which I did also in Jerusalem, and shut up many of the saints in prison; and having received authority from the chief priests, and they being slain, I gave my vote against them;

11 Y muchas veces castigándolos por las sinagogas, los forcé a blasfemar; y enfurecido sobre manera contra ellos, les perseguí hasta en las ciudades extrañas.

and throughout all the synagogues, frequently punishing them, I compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceeding mad against them, I was persecuting them even also unto foreign cities.

12 En cuyo tiempo yendo yo a Damasco con poderes y comisión de los príncipes de los sacerdotes,

Meanwhile journeying to Damascus with power and authority of the chief priests, I saw on the way, O king,

13 En mitad del día, oh rey, ví en el camino una luz que sobrepujaba el resplandor del sol, la cual me rodeó, y a los que iban conmigo.

about midday, a light from heaven above the brightness of the sun, shining around me and those traveling with me;

14 Y habiendo caído todos nosotros en tierra, oí una voz que me hablaba, y decía en lengua Hebraica: Saulo, Saulo, ¿por qué me persigues? Dura cosa te es dar coces contra los aguijones.

and we all having fallen to the ground, I heard a voice speaking to me in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against goads.

15 Yo entonces dije: ¿Quién eres, Señor? Y él dijo: Yo soy Jesús, a quién tú persigues.

And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou art persecuting.

16 Mas levántate, y pónte sobre tus pies; porque por esto te he aparecido, para ponerte por ministro y testigo de las cosas que has visto, y de las en que te apareceré;

But rise up, and stand upon thy feet: for unto this have I appeared unto thee, to make thee a minister and a martyr both of those things which thou hast seen, and of which I will appear unto thee;

17 Librándote de este pueblo, y de los Gentiles, a los cuales ahora te envío,

delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,

18 Para abrir sus ojos, para que se conviertan de las tinieblas a la luz, y de la potestad de Satanás a Dios, para que reciban por la fe que es en mí, remisión de pecados, y suerte entre los que son santificados.

to open their eyes, to turn them from darkness unto light, and from the power of Satan unto God, in order that they may receive remission of sins, and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in me.

19 Por lo cual, oh rey Agripa, no fui rebelde a la visión celestial:

Therefore, O king, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision:

20 Antes, primeramente a los de Damasco, y en Jerusalem, y por toda la tierra de Judea, y a los Gentiles, anunciaba que se arrepintiesen y se convirtiesen a Dios, haciendo obras dignas de arrepentimiento.

but first to those in Damascus, and also in Jerusalem, and throughout all the country of Judea, and to the Gentiles, I was preaching that they should repent and turn to God, doing things worthy of repentance.

21 Por causa de esto los Judíos tomándome en el templo, tentaron de matar me.

On account of these things the Jews, taking me while in the temple, endeavored to kill me.

22 Mas ayudado de la ayuda de Dios persevero hasta el día de hoy, dando testimonio a chicos y a grandes, no diciendo nada fuera de las cosas que los profetas y Moisés dijeron que habían de venir, a saber:

Then having received help from God, I have stood unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying nothing but what the prophets and Moses said were about to come to pass:

23 Que el Cristo había de padecer, que había de ser el primero de la resurrección de los muertos, y que había de anunciar luz a este pueblo, y a los Gentiles.

how that Christ must suffer, how being the first from the resurrection of the dead, he is to proclaim light both to the people, and the Gentiles.

24 Y diciendo él estas cosas en su defensa, Festo a gran voz dijo: Estás loco, Pablo: las muchas letras te vuelven loco.

And he making his defence to these things, Festus says with a loud voice, O Paul, thou art beside thyself; many writings turned thee into insanity.

25 Mas él dijo: No estoy loco, excelente Festo, sino que hablo palabra de verdad, y de templanza.

But Paul says, I am not a maniac, most noble Festus; but I speak forth the words of truth and soberness.

26 Porque el rey sabe estas cosas, delante del cual también hablo con libertad, porque estoy seguro que él no ignora nada de estas cosas, que esto no ha sido hecho en algún rincón.

For the king, to whom I also speak boldly, knows concerning these things: for I am persuaded that nothing of these things is hidden; for this has not been done in a corner.

27 ¿Crees, rey Agripa, a los profetas? Yo sé que crees.

O king Agrippa, dost thou believe the prophets? I know that thou believest them.

28 Entonces Agripa dijo a Pablo: Por poco me persuades que me haga Cristiano.

And Agrippa said to Paul, With little persuasion thou dost persuade thyself to make me a Christian.

29 Y Pablo dijo: Pluguiese a Dios, que por poco y por mucho, no solamente tú, mas también todos los que hoy me oyen, fueseis hechos tales cual yo soy, salvo estas prisiones.

And Paul said, I would to God, that both in little and in much, not only you, but also all of those hearing me this day, were such as I am, except these bonds.

30 Y como hubo dicho esto, se levantó el rey, y el gobernador, y Berenice, y los que estaban asentados con ellos.

And the king, and the governor, and Bernice, and those sitting with them, arose up:

31 Y como se retiraron aparte, hablaban los unos a los otros, diciendo: Ninguna cosa digna ni de muerte, ni de prisión, hace este hombre.

and having gone away, they were talking to one another, saying, that This man is doing nothing worthy of death or of bonds.

32 Y Agripa dijo a Festo: Podía este hombre ser suelto, si no hubiera apelado al César.

But Agrippa said to Festus, This man was able to have been released, if he had not appealed to Caesar.
