Hechos 13

1 Había entonces en la iglesia, que estaba en Antioquía, profetas y doctores, como Barnabás, y Simón el que se llamaba Níger, y Lucio Cireneo, y Manaén, hermano de leche de Heródes el tetrarca, y Saulo.

Now there were certain prophets and teachers in the church that was at Antioch; Barnabas, and Simeon, who is called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, who was brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

2 Ministrando pues estos al Señor, y ayunando, dijo el Espíritu Santo: Apartádme a Barnabás y a Saulo para la obra para la cual los he llamado.

And while they were ministering to the Lord, and fasting, the Holy Spirit said: Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul, to the work to which I have called them.

3 Entonces ayunando y orando, y poniéndoles las manos encima, los enviaron.

Then, after they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

4 Así que ellos, enviados por el Espíritu Santo, descendieron a Seleucia; y de allí navegaron a Chipre.

Therefore, having been sent forth by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and thence sailed to Cyprus.

5 Y llegados a Salamina, anunciaban la palabra de Dios en las sinagogas de los Judíos; y tenían también a Juan por asistente.

And while they were in Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogue of the Jews; and they had John as their attendant.

6 Y habiendo atravesado la isla hasta Pafo, hallaron a cierto hechicero, falso profeta, Judío, llamado Bar-jesús:

And having gone through the island as far as Paphos, they found a certain magician, a Jewish false prophet, whose name was Bar-jesus;

7 El cual estaba con el procónsul Sergio Paulo, varón prudente. Este, llamando a Barnabás y a Saulo, deseaba oír la palabra de Dios.

and he was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, who was a man of intelligence. This man called for Barnabas and Saul, and expressed an earnest wish to hear the word of God.

8 Mas les resistía Elimás el hechicero, (que así se interpreta su nombre, ) procurando de apartar de la fe al procónsul.

But the magician Elymas (for this is his name, when translated) withstood them, desiring to turn away the proconsul from the faith.

9 Entonces Saulo, que también se llama Pablo, lleno del Espíritu Santo, poniendo en él los ojos,

Then Saul, who is also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, and looking earnestly upon him,

10 Dijo: Oh, lleno de todo engaño y de toda maldad, hijo del diablo, enemigo de toda justicia, ¿no cesarás de trastornar los caminos rectos del Señor?

said: O full of all deceit and all wickedness, child of the devil, enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

11 Ahora, pues, he aquí, la mano del Señor es sobre ti, y serás ciego, que no veas el sol por un tiempo. Y luego cayó en él oscuridad y tinieblas; y andando al derredor buscaba quien le condujese por la mano.

And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you shall be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness, and he went about and sought some to lead him by the hand.

12 Entonces el procónsul, viendo lo que había sido hecho, creyó, maravillado de la doctrina del Señor.

Then the proconsul, seeing what was done, believed, being amazed at the teaching of the Lord.

13 Y partidos de Pafo, Pablo, y los que estaban con él, vinieron a Perges de Pamfilia: entonces Juan, apartándose de ellos, se volvió a Jerusalem.

And Paul and his companions put to sea from Paphos, and went to Perga in Pamphylia. But John withdrew from them, and returned to Jerusalem.

14 Y ellos pasando de Perges, vinieron a Antioquía de Pisidia; y entrando en la sinagoga un día de sábado, se asentaron.

But having passed through from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia; and on the sabbath-day they went into the synagogue, and sat down.

15 Y después de la lectura de la ley y de los profetas, los príncipes de la sinagoga enviaron a ellos, diciendo: Varones y hermanos, si hay en vosotros alguna palabra de exhortación para el pueblo, hablád.

After the reading of the law and the prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying: Brethren, if you have a word of exhortation for the people, speak.

16 Entonces Pablo, levantándose, hecha señal de silencio con la mano, dijo: Varones Israelitas, y los que teméis a Dios, escuchád.

Then Paul arose, and waving his hand, said: Men of Israel, and you who fear God, give audience.

17 El Dios de este pueblo de Israel escogió a nuestros padres, y ensalzó el pueblo, siendo ellos extranjeros en la tierra de Egipto, y con brazo levantado los sacó de ella.

The God of this people chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they sojourned in the land of Egypt, and with an uplifted arm he brought them out from it.

18 Y por espacio como de cuarenta años soportó sus costumbres en el desierto.

And for about forty years, he cherished them in the wilderness.

19 Y destruyendo las siete naciones en la tierra de Canaán, les repartió por suerte la tierra de ellas.

And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Chanaan, he divided their land among them by lot.

20 Y después de esto les dio jueces como por cuatrocientos y cincuenta años, hasta el profeta Samuel.

And after that he gave them judges, for about four hundred and fifty years, till Samuel the prophet.

21 Y entonces demandaron rey; y les dio Dios a Saul, hijo de Cis, varón de la tribu de Benjamín, por cuarenta años.

And afterward they asked for a king, and God gave them Saul the son of Kis, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years.

22 Y quitado aquel, les levantó a David por rey, al cual dio testimonio, diciendo: He hallado a David, hijo de Jessé, varón conforme a mi corazón, el cual hará todas mis voluntades.

And when he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king; to whom he gave this testimony: I have found David the son of Jesse a man after my own heart, who will do all my will.

23 De la simiente de éste, Dios, conforme a su promesa, ha levantado para Israel un Salvador, Jesús;

From the posterity of this man, God, according to his promise, raised up for Israel a Savior, Jesus;

24 Predicando Juan antes de su venida el bautismo de arrepentimiento a todo el pueblo de Israel.

John having first preached, before his coming, the immersion of repentance to all the people of Israel.

25 Mas como Juan cumpliese su carrera, dijo: ¿Quién pensáis que soy yo? Yo no soy él; mas, he aquí, viene en pos de mí uno, cuyos zapatos de los pies no soy yo digno de desatar.

And as John was finishing his course, he said: Who do you suppose that I am? I am not he; but behold, there is coming after me one, the sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to loose.

26 Varones y hermanos, hijos del linaje de Abraham, y los que de entre vosotros temen a Dios, a vosotros es enviada la palabra de esta salvación.

Brethren, sons of the family of Abraham, and those among you who fear God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.

27 Porque los que habitaban en Jerusalem, y sus príncipes, no conociendo a éste, ni a las voces de los profetas que se leen todos los sábados, condenándo le las cumplieron.

For those who dwell in Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they did not know him, nor the words of the prophets, which are read every sabbath-day, have fulfilled them in condemning him.

28 Y sin hallar en él causa de muerte, pidieron a Pilato que fuese muerto.

And though they found no cause of death, yet they demanded of Pilate that he should be slain.

29 Y habiendo cumplido todas las cosas que de él eran escritas, quitándo le del madero, le pusieron en un sepulcro.

And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulcher.

30 Mas Dios le levantó de entre los muertos.

But God raised him from the dead.

31 El cual fue visto por muchos días de los que habían subido juntamente con él de Galilea a Jerusalem, los cuales son sus testigos ante el pueblo.

And he was seen for many days by those who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses to the people.

32 Y nosotros os anunciamos la buena nueva de aquella promesa que fue hecha a los padres,

And we preach to you good news concerning the promise made to our fathers,

33 La cual Dios ha cumplido a nosotros, los hijos de ellos, resucitando a Jesús: como también en el Salmo segundo está escrito: Mi hijo eres tú, yo te he engendrado hoy.

that God has fulfilled the same to us, their children, by raising up Jesus, as it is written in the second Psalm: Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

34 Y que le levantó de los muertos para nunca más volver a corrupción, dijo así: Os daré las misericordias fieles prometidas a David.

But that he raised him from the dead, no more to return to corruption, he has spoken thus: I will give you the sure mercies of David.

35 Por tanto en otro Salmo dice también: No permitirás que tu Santo vea corrupción.

For which reason he says also in another Psalm: Thou wilt not suffer thy Holy One to see corruption.

36 Porque a la verdad David, habiendo servido en su edad a la voluntad de Dios, durmió, y fue juntado con sus padres, y vio corrupción.

For David, after serving the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep, and was laid with his fathers, and saw corruption.

37 Mas aquel que Dios levantó, no vio corrupción.

But he whom God raised up did not see corruption.

38 Séaos pues notorio, varones y hermanos, que por éste os es anunciada remisión de pecados;

Be it known to you, therefore, brethren, that through this man is preached to you the remission of sins:

39 Y de todo lo que por la ley de Moisés no pudisteis ser justificados, en éste es justificado todo aquel que creyere.

and by him, every one that believes is justified from all things, from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.

40 Mirád pues que no venga sobre vosotros lo que está dicho en los profetas:

Take heed, therefore, lest that which is spoken in the prophets come upon you:

41 Mirád, menospreciadores, y maravilláos, y desvanecéos; porque yo obro obra en vuestros días, obra que no la creeréis aunque alguien os la contare.

Behold, you despisers, and wonder, and perish. For I work a work in your days, a work which you will not believe, though one fully declare it to you.

42 Y salidos los Judíos de la sinagoga, los Gentiles les rogaron, que el sábado siguiente se les hablasen estas palabras.

And as they were departing from the synagogue, they were requested to speak these things to them on the next sabbath.

43 Y despedida la congregación, muchos de los Judíos, y de los prosélitos religiosos siguieron a Pablo y a Barnabás: los cuales hablándoles, les persuadían que permaneciesen en la gracia de Dios.

Now, after the congregation was dismissed, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who spoke to them, and persuaded them to continue faithful to the grace of God.

44 Y el sábado siguiente se juntó casi toda la ciudad a oír la palabra de Dios.

And on the next sabbath-day, almost the whole city met together to hear the word of God.

45 Entonces los Judíos, vistas las multitudes, fueron llenos de envidia, y contradecían a lo que Pablo decía, contradiciendo y blasfemando.

But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spoke against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and reviling.

46 Entonces Pablo y Barnabás, usando de libertad, dijeron, A vosotros a la verdad era menester que se os hablase primero la palabra de Dios; mas, pues que la desecháis, y os juzgáis indignos de la vida eterna, he aquí, nos volvemos a los Gentiles. (aiōnios g166)

But Paul and Barnabas, speaking boldly, said: It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken to you first: but since you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, lo! we turn to tho Gentiles. (aiōnios g166)

47 Porque así nos lo mandó el Señor, diciendo: Te he puesto por luz de los Gentiles, para que seas por salvación hasta lo postrero de la tierra.

For thus has the Lord given us commandment: I have placed thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be for salvation to the most distant part of the earth.

48 Y los Gentiles oyendo esto, fueron gozosos, y glorificaban la palabra del Señor; y creyeron cuantos estaban ordenados para vida eterna. (aiōnios g166)

When the Gentiles heard this they rejoiced, and glorified the word of the Lord; and as many as were determined to obtain eternal life, believed. (aiōnios g166)

49 Y la palabra del Señor fue sembrada por toda aquella región.

And the word of the Lord was published throughout the whole of that region.

50 Mas los Judíos concitaron a las mujeres devotas y nobles, y a los principales de la ciudad, y levantaron persecución contra Pablo y Barnabás, a los cuales echaron de sus términos.

But the Jews in cited the devout and influential women, and the first men of the city, and raised a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their borders.

51 Ellos entonces sacudiendo contra ellos el polvo de sus pies, se vinieron a Iconio.

But they shook off the dust from their feet against them, and went to Iconium.

52 Y los discípulos fueron llenos de gozo, y del Espíritu Santo.

And the disciples were filled with joy and the Holy Spirit.
