Hechos 1
1 Hemos hablado primero, oh Téofilo, de todas las cosas que Jesús comenzó a hacer, y a enseñar,
THE former book have I written, O Theophilus concerning all the things which our Lord Jesus Messiah began to do and teach,
2 Hasta el día en que, después de haber dado mandamientos por el Espíritu Santo a los apóstoles que escogió, fue recibido arriba:
until the day when he was taken up, after he had instructed those legates whom he had chosen by the Holy Spirit.
3 A los cuales, después de haber padecido, se mostró también vivo con muchas pruebas infalibles, apareciéndoseles por cuarenta días, y hablándoles del reino de Dios.
To whom also he showed himself alive after he had suffered, by numerous signs, during forty days, while he was seen by them, and spoke of the kingdom of God.
4 Y juntándolos, les mandó, que no se fuesen de Jerusalem, mas que esperasen la promesa del Padre, que oísteis, dice, de mí.
And when he had eaten bread with them, he instructed them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which (said he) ye have heard from me.
5 Porque Juan a la verdad bautizó con agua, mas vosotros seréis bautizados con el Espíritu Santo no muchos días después de estos.
For John baptized with water; but ye will be baptized with the Holy Spirit after not many days.
6 Entonces los que se habían juntado le preguntaron, diciendo: ¿Señor, restituirás el reino a Israel en este tiempo?
And they, when assembled, asked him and said to him: Our Lord, wilt thou at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?
7 Y les dijo: No es vuestro saber los tiempos, o las sazones que el Padre puso en su sola potestad;
He said to them: It is not yours, to know the time or times which God hath placed in his own power.
8 Mas recibiréis la virtud del Espíritu Santo que vendrá sobre vosotros, y me seréis testigos en Jerusalem, y en toda Judea, y Samaria, y hasta lo último de la tierra.
But when the Holy Spirit shall come upon you, ye will receive energy, and will be witnesses for me in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and also among the Samaritans, and unto the ends of the earth.
9 Y habiendo dicho estas cosas, mirándo le ellos, fue alzado, y una nube le recibió, y le quitó de sus ojos.
And when he had said these things, while they beheld him, he was taken up, and a cloud received him, and he was hidden from their eyes.
10 Y estando ellos con los ojos puestos en el cielo entre tanto que él iba, he aquí, dos varones se pusieron junto a ellos en vestidos blancos;
And while they were looking toward heav, as he departed, two men were found standing near them, in white garments,
11 Los cuales también les dijeron: Varones Galileos, ¿qué estáis mirando al cielo? este mismo Jesús que ha sido tomado arriba de vosotros al cielo, así vendrá, como le habéis visto ir al cielo.
and saying to them: Ye Galilean men, why stand ye and look toward heaven? This Jesus, who is taken up from you to heaven, will so come, as ye have seen him ascend to heaven.
12 Entonces se volvieron a Jerusalem del monte que se llama el Olivar, el cual está cerca de Jerusalem, camino de un sábado.
And afterwards they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called the place of Olives, which was near to Jerusalem, and distant from it about seven furlongs.
13 Y entrados, subieron al cenadero, donde estaban Pedro y Santiago, y Juan y Andrés, Felipe y Tomás, Bartolomé y Mateo, Santiago, hijo de Alfeo, y Simón el Zelador, y Júdas, hermano de Santiago.
And when they had entered, they went to an upper chamber; where were Peter, and John, and James, and Andrew, and Philip, and Thomas, and Matthew, and Bartholomew, and James the son of Alpheus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the son of James.
14 Todos éstos perseveraban unánimes en oración y ruego con las mujeres, y con María la madre de Jesús, y con sus hermanos.
All these unitedly persevered in prayer, with one soul, together with the women, and with Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.
15 Y en aquellos días Pedro, levantándose en medio de los discípulos, dijo: (el número de nombres de los que estaban juntos era como de ciento y veinte: )
And in those days stood up Simon Cephas in the midst of the disciples, (the persons there assembled being about one hundred and twenty, ) and said:
16 Varones y hermanos, era menester que se cumpliese esta Escritura, la cual dijo antes el Espíritu Santo por la boca de David, de Júdas, que fue el guía de los que prendieron a Jesús,
Men, brethren, it was right that the scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spake, by the mouth of David, concerning Judas who was guide to them that apprehended Jesus.
17 El cual era contado con nosotros, y tenía parte de este ministerio.
For he was numbered with us, and had a part in this ministry.
18 Este pues adquirió un campo con el salario de su iniquidad, y colgándose reventó por medio, y todas sus entrañas se derramaron.
He purchased a field with the wages of sin; and he fell upon his face on the ground, and burst in the middle, and all his entrails were poured out.
19 Y esto fue notorio a todos los moradores de Jerusalem, de tal manera que aquel campo sea llamado en su propia lengua Aceldama, esto es: Campo de sangre.
And this was known to all that dwelt at Jerusalem; so that the field was called, in the language of the country, Aceldama, which is interpreted Field of Blood.
20 Porque está escrito en el libro de los Salmos: Sea hecha desierta su habitación, y no haya quien more en ella: y, Tome otro su obispado.
For it is written, in the book of Psalms: Let his habitation be desolate, and let no resident be in it; and let another take his service.
21 Conviene, pues, que de estos varones, que han estado juntos con nosotros todo el tiempo que el Señor Jesús entró y salió entre nosotros,
It should therefore be, that one of these persons, who have been with us all the time that our Lord Jesus went in and out with us,
22 Comenzando desde el bautismo de Juan, hasta el día que fue tomado arriba de entre nosotros, uno sea hecho testigo con nosotros de su resurrección.
commencing from the baptism of John, unto the day he was taken up from us, should be, with us, a witness of his resurrection.
23 Y señalaron a dos, a José, que se llama Barsabás, que tenía por sobrenombre Justo, y a Matías.
And they proposed two, Joseph called Barsabas, whose surname was Justus, and Matthias.
24 Y orando, dijeron: Tú, Señor, que conoces los corazones de todos, muestra cual has escogido de estos dos,
And when they had prayed, they said: Thou, Lord, knowest what is in the hearts of all, manifest which thou hast chosen of these two,
25 Para que tome parte de este ministerio, y apostolado, del cual cayó por prevaricación Júdas, para irse a su propio lugar.
that he should take part in this ministry and legateship, from which Judas broke away, that he might go to his own place.
26 Y les echaron las suertes; y cayó la suerte sobre Matías; y fue contado con los once apóstoles.
And they cast lots, and it came upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven legates.
