2 Samuel 4
1 Como el hijo de Saul oyó que Abner había sido muerto en Hebrón, las manos se le descoyuntaron: y todo Israel fue atemorizado.
Now, when Ish-bosheth son of Saul heard that Abner had died in Hebron, his hands became feeble, —and, all Israel, were dismayed.
2 Y tenía el hijo de Saul dos varones, los cuales eran capitanes de compañías: el nombre del uno era Baana, y el del otro era Recab, hijos de Remmón Berotita, de los hijos de Ben-jamín: porque Berot era contada con Ben-jamín.
And two men, captains of bands, pertained to Ish-bosheth son of Saul—the name of the one, was Baanah, and, the name of the other, Rechab—sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, of the sons of Benjamin, —for, even Beeroth, used to be reckoned unto Benjamin;
3 Estos Berotitas se habían huido en Getaim, y habían sido peregrinos allí hasta entonces.
and the Beerothites fled to Gittaim, —and have been sojourners there, until this day.
4 Y Jonatán el hijo de Saul tenía un hijo cojo de los pies, de edad de cinco años: que cuando la fama de la muerte de Saul y de Jonatán vino de Jezrael, su ama le tomó, y huyó: y yendo, huyendo de priesa, cayó el niño y quedó cojo: su nombre era Mifiboset.
And, Jonathan, son of Saul, had a son, lame of his feet, —five years old, was he, when tidings came in of Saul and Jonathan from Jezreel, so his nurse took him up, and fled, and it came to pass, when she started up to flee, that he fell and was lamed, and, his name, was, Mephibosheth.
5 Los hijos de Remmón Berotita, Recab y Baana fueron, y entraron en la mayor calor del día en casa de Is-boset, el cual estaba durmiendo en su cámara la siesta.
So then the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, took their journey and came in, about the heat of the day, unto the house of Ish-bosheth, —when, he, was lying on his noonday couch;
6 Y entraron en medio de la casa en hábito de mercaderes de grano, e hiriéronle junto a la quinta costilla, y escapáronse Recab y Baana su hermano.
and, thither, entered they as fro as the middle of the house, to fetch wheat, and they smote him in the belly, —and, Rechab and Baanah his brother, escaped.
7 Los cuales como entraron en la casa, estando él en su cama en su cámara de dormir, le hirieron y mataron: y cortáronle la cabeza. Y tomando la cabeza caminaron toda la noche por el camino de la campaña.
Thus they entered the house when, he, was lying on his bed, in his sleeping-chamber, and smote him, and slew him, and beheaded him, —and took his head, and journeyed by way of the waste plain all the night;
8 Y trajeron la cabeza de Is-boset a David en Hebrón, y dijeron al rey: He aquí la cabeza de Is-boset, hijo de Saul, tu enemigo, que procuraba matarte: y Jehová ha vengado hoy a mi señor el rey de Saul, y de su simiente.
and brought in the head of Ish-bosheth unto David, at Hebron, and said unto the king, Lo! the head of Ish-bosheth son of Saul, thine enemy, who sought thy life: so hath Yahweh given to my lord the king, avengement this day, on Saul and on his seed.
9 Y David respondió a Recab y a Baana su hermano, hijos de Remmón Berotita, y díjoles: Vive Jehová, que ha redimido mi alma de toda angustia,
Then David responded to Rechab and Baanah his brother, sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said unto them, —By the life of Yahweh, who hath redeemed my soul out of all distress,
10 Que cuando uno me dio nuevas, diciendo: He aquí, Saul es muerto, el cual pensaba que traía buenas nuevas, yo le tomé, y le maté en Siceleg en premio de la buena nueva.
when he that brought tidings to me, saying, Lo! Saul is dead, though, he, was as one that bringeth good tidings, in his own eyes, yet I seized him, and slew him in Ziklag, —which was how I gave him reward for his tidings:
11 ¿Cuánto más a los malos hombres, que mataron a un hombre justo en su casa, y sobre su cama? Ahora pues, ¿no tengo yo de demandar su sangre de vuestras manos, y quitaros de la tierra?
how much more, when, lawless men, have slain a righteous person, in his own house, upon his bed? …Now, therefore, must I not require his blood at your hands, and so consume you, out of the earth?
12 Entonces David mandó a los mancebos, y ellos los mataron, y cortáronles las manos y los pies, y colgáronlos sobre el estanque en Hebrón. Y tomaron la cabeza de Is-boset, y la enterraron en el sepulcro de Abner en Hebrón.
David therefore commanded the young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands, and their feet, and hanged them up over the pool, in Hebron, —but, the head of Ish-bosheth, took they, and buried in the grave of Abner, in Hebron.
