2 Samuel 3

1 Y hubo luenga guerra entre la casa de Saul, y la casa de David: mas David se iba fortificando, y la casa de Saul iba en diminución.

Now there was a long war between the house of Saul and the house of David. But David grew stronger and stronger, while the house of Saul grew weaker and weaker.

2 Y nacieron hijos a David en Hebrón. Su primogénito fue Amnón de Aquinoam Jezraelita.

Now sons were born to David in Hebron. And his firstborn was Amnon, of Ahinoam of Jezreel;

3 Su segundo fue Queleab de Abigail, la mujer de Nabal, el del Carmelo; el tercero, Absalom, hijo de Maaca, hija de Tolmai rey de Gessur;

and his second, Daluiah, of Abigail of Carmel; and the third, Absalom the son of Maacah the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur;

4 El cuarto, Adonías, hijo de Haggit; el quinto, Safatias, hijo de Abital;

and the fourth, Adonijah the son of Haggith; and the fifth, Shephatiah, of Abital;

5 El sexto, Jetraam de Egla mujer de David: estos nacieron a David en Hebrón.

and the sixth, Ithream, of Eglah, David's wife. These were born to David in Hebron.

6 Y como había guerra entre la casa de Saul, y la de David, aconteció que Abner se esforzaba por la casa de Saul.

And it came about while there was war between the house of Saul and the house of David, that Abner was gaining power in the house of Saul.

7 Y Saul había tenido una concubina que se llamaba Resfa, hija de Aja: e Is-boset dijo a Abner: ¿Por qué has entrado a la concubina de mi padre?

Now Saul had a secondary wife, Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah. And Ishbaal son of Saul said to Abner, "Why have you gone in to my father's secondary wife?"

8 Y Abner se enojó en gran manera por las palabras de Is-boset, y dijo: ¿Soy yo cabeza de los perros de Judá? Yo he hecho hoy misericordia con la casa de Saul tu padre, con sus hermanos, y con sus amigos, y no te he entregado en las manos de David, y tú me has hecho hoy cargo del pecado de una mujer.

Then Abner was very angry over the words of Ishbaal, and said, "Am I a dog's head? Until today, is it for myself that I have been doing all these things, showing loyalty to the house of Saul your father, to his brothers, and to his friends, and have not delivered you into the hand of David? And yet you charge me this day with a fault concerning this woman.

9 Así haga Dios a Abner, y así le añada, que como ha jurado Jehová a David, así haga yo con él:

God do so to Abner, and more also, if, as YHWH has sworn to David, I do not do even so to him;

10 Y que yo traspase el reino de la casa de Saul, y confirme la silla de David sobre Israel, y sobre Judá, desde Dan hasta Beer-seba.

to transfer the kingdom from the house of Saul, and to set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, from Dan even to Beersheba."

11 Y él no pudo responder palabra a Abner porque tenía temor de él.

And Ishbaal could not answer Abner another word, because he feared him.

12 Y envió Abner mensajeros a David de su parte, diciendo: ¿Cúya es la tierra? Y que le dijesen: Haz alianza conmigo, y, he aquí que mi mano será contigo para volver a ti a todo Israel.

Abner sent messengers to David on his behalf, saying, "Whose is the land?" and saying, "Make an agreement with me, and look, my hand shall be with you, to bring all Israel around to you."

13 Y él dijo: Bien. Yo haré contigo alianza: mas una cosa te pido; y es, que no me vengas a ver sin que primero traigas a Micol la hija de Saul, cuando vinieres a verme.

He said, "Good. I will make a covenant with you, but one thing I require of you. That is, you shall not see my face unless you first bring Mikal, Saul's daughter, when you come to see my face."

14 Después de esto David envió mensajeros a Is-boset, hijo de Saul, diciendo: Restitúyeme a mi mujer Micol, la cual yo desposé conmigo por cien prepucios de Filisteos.

David sent messengers to Ishbaal, Saul's son, saying, "Give me my wife Mikal, whom I betrothed to myself for one hundred foreskins of the Philistines."

15 Entonces Is-boset envió, y quitóla a su marido Faltiel, hijo de Lais.

Ishbaal sent and took her from her husband Paltiel the son of Laish.

16 Y su marido fue con ella llorando por el camino en pos de ella hasta Bajurim: y Abner le dijo: Anda, vuélvete. Entonces él se volvió.

But her husband went with her, weeping behind her, as far as Bahurim. Then Abner said to him, "Go back." So he went back.

17 Y habló Abner con los ancianos de Israel, diciendo: Ayer y anteayer procurabais que David fuese rey sobre vosotros;

Abner advised the elders of Israel, saying, "For some time you have wanted David to be king over you.

18 Ahora pues, hacédlo; porque Jehová ha hablado a David, diciendo: Por la mano de mi siervo David libraré a mi pueblo Israel de mano de los Filisteos, y de mano de todos sus enemigos.

Now then do it, for YHWH has spoken of David, saying, 'By the hand of my servant David, I will save my people Israel out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their enemies.'"

19 Y habló también Abner en oídos de Ben-jamín: y también fue Abner a decir a David a Hebrón todo el parecer de los de Israel, y de toda la casa de Ben-jamín.

And Abner also spoke privately to the sons of Benjamin. And Abner also spoke privately to David in Hebron all that seemed good to Israel, and to the whole house of Benjamin.

20 Vino pues Abner a David en Hebrón, y con él veinte hombres: y David hizo banquete a Abner, y a los que con él habían venido.

So Abner came to David to Hebron, and twenty men with him. David made Abner and the men who were with him a feast.

21 Y dijo Abner a David: Yo me levantaré, e iré, y juntaré a mi señor el rey todo Israel, para que hagan contigo alianza, y tú reines sobre todo lo que desea tu alma. Y David envió a Abner, y él se fue en paz.

Abner said to David, "I will arise and go, and will gather all Israel to my lord the king, that they may make a covenant with you, and that you may reign over all that your soul desires." David sent Abner away; and he left in peace.

22 Y he aquí los siervos de David y Joab, que venían del campo, y traían consigo gran presa. Y Abner ya no estaba con David en Hebrón, que ya él le había despedido, y él se había ido en paz.

Look, the servants of David and Joab were returning from a raid, and brought in a great spoil with them. But Abner was not with David in Hebron, for he had sent him away, and he left in peace.

23 Y como Joab y todo el ejército que con él estaba vinieron, fue dado aviso a Joab, diciendo: Abner, hijo de Ner, ha venido al rey: y él le ha enviado, y se fue en paz.

When Joab and all the army who was with him had come, they told Joab, saying, "Abner the son of Ner came to David, and he has sent him away, and he left in peace."

24 Entonces Joab vino al rey, y le dijo: ¿Qué has hecho? He aquí, habíase venido Abner a ti: ¿por qué pues le dejaste que se fuese?

Then Joab came to the king, and said, "What have you done? Look, Abner came to you. Why is it that you have sent him away? Now he has gone.

25 ¿Sabes tú que Abner, hijo de Ner, es venido para engañarte, y saber tu salida y tu entrada, y por entender todo lo que tú haces?

Don't you know the evil ways of Abner the son of Ner? He came to deceive you and to observe your movements and to learn everything that you are doing."

26 Y saliéndose Joab de con David, envió mensajeros tras Abner, los cuales le volvieron desde el pozo de Sira, sin saberlo David.

When Joab had left David, he sent messengers after Abner, and they brought him back from the well of Sirah; but David did not know it.

27 Y como Abner volvió a Hebrón, Joab le apartó al medio de la puerta hablando con él blandamente como de secreto, y allí le hirió junto a la quinta costilla por la muerte de Asael su hermano, y murió.

When Abner returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside into the midst of the gate to speak with him quietly, and struck him there in the abdomen, so that he died, for the blood of Asahel his brother.

28 Cuando David supo esto después, dijo: Yo soy limpio, y mi reino, delante de Jehová, para siempre, de la sangre de Abner, hijo de Ner:

Afterward, when David heard it, he said, "I and my kingdom are guiltless before YHWH now and forever of the blood of Abner the son of Ner.

29 Caiga sobre la cabeza de Joab, y sobre toda la casa de su padre; que nunca falte de la casa de Joab hombre que padezca flujo, ni leproso, ni quien ande con bordón, ni quien muera a cuchillo, ni quien tenga falta de pan.

May it whirl over the head of Joab, and on all his father's house. Let there not fail from the house of Joab one who has an issue, or who is a leper, or who leans on a staff, or who falls by the sword, or who lacks bread."

30 Así que Joab y Abisaí su hermano mataron a Abner, porque él había muerto a Asael hermano de ellos en la batalla en Gabaón.

So Joab and Abishai his brother killed Abner, because he had killed their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle.

31 Entonces David dijo a Joab, y a todo el pueblo que con él estaba: Rompéd vuestros vestidos, y ceñíos de sacos, y hacéd llanto delante de Abner: y el rey iba detrás de las andas.

David said to Joab, and to all the people who were with him, "Tear your clothes, and clothe yourselves with sackcloth, and mourn before Abner." And King David followed the coffin.

32 Y sepultaron a Abner en Hebrón: y alzando el rey su voz, lloró al sepulcro de Abner: y todo el pueblo también lloró.

They buried Abner in Hebron: and the king lifted up his voice, and wept at the grave of Abner; and all the people wept.

33 Y endechando el rey al mismo Abner, decía: ¿Murió Abner como muere el insensato?

The king lamented for Abner, and said, "Should Abner die as a fool dies?

34 Tus manos no eran atadas, ni tus pies ligados con grillos. Como los que caen delante de los hijos de iniquidad, así caíste. Y añadieron todo el pueblo a llorar sobre él.

Your hands were not bound in chains, your feet were not put into fetters. As a man falls before the ruthless, so you fell." All the people wept again over him.

35 Y como todo el pueblo viniese a dar de comer pan a David, siendo aun de día, David juró, diciendo: Así me haga Dios, y así me añada, si antes que se ponga el sol yo gustare pan, o otra cualquiera cosa.

Then all the people came to persuade David to eat bread while it was yet day; but David swore, saying, "God do so to me, and more also, if I taste bread, or anything else, until the sun goes down."

36 Así entendió todo el pueblo, y les plugo en sus ojos; porque todo lo que el rey hacía parecía bien en ojos de todo el pueblo.

And all the people took notice of it, and it pleased them; just as everything the king did pleased the people.

37 Y todo el pueblo, y aun todo Israel entendieron aquel día, que no había venido del rey, que Abner, hijo de Ner, muriese.

So all the people and all Israel understood that day that it was not of the king to kill Abner the son of Ner.

38 Entonces el rey dijo a sus siervos: ¿No sabéis que ha caído hoy en Israel un príncipe, y grande?

The king said to his servants, "Do you not realize that a leader and a great man has fallen this day in Israel?

39 Que yo ahora aun soy tierno rey ungido: y estos hombres, los hijos de Sarvia, muy duros me son: Jehová dé el pago al que mal hace, conforme a su malicia.

I am this day weak, though anointed king. And these men, the sons of Zeruiah, are too brutal for me. May YHWH reward the evildoer according to his wickedness."
