2 Samuel 2
1 Después de esto aconteció que David consultó a Jehová, diciendo: ¿Subiré a alguna de las ciudades de Judá? Y Jehová le respondió: Sube. Y David tornó a decir. ¿Adónde subiré? Y él le dijo: a Hebrón.
And it came to pass after this that David inquired of Jehovah, saying, Shall I go up into one of the cities of Judah? And Jehovah said to him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, Unto Hebron.
2 Y David subió allá, y con él sus dos mujeres Aquinoam Jezraelita, y Abigail, la mujer de Nabal del Carmelo.
So David went up thither, and his two wives also, Ahinoam the Jizreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.
3 Y trajo también David consigo los varones que habían estado con él, cada uno con su familia: los cuales moraron en las ciudades de Hebrón.
And his men that were with him did David bring up, every man with his household; and they dwelt in the cities of Hebron.
4 Y vinieron los varones de Judá, y ungieron allí a David por rey sobre la casa de Judá. Y dieron aviso a David, diciendo: Los de Jabes de Galaad son los que sepultaron a Saul.
And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, It is the men of Jabesh-Gilead that have buried Saul.
5 Y David envió mensajeros a los de Jabes de Galaad, diciéndoles: Benditos seáis vosotros de Jehová, que habéis hecho esta misericordia con vuestro señor Saul, que le habéis sepultado.
And David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-Gilead, and said to them, Blessed be ye of Jehovah, that ye have shewn this kindness to your lord, to Saul, and have buried him!
6 Ahora pues Jehová hará con vosotros misericordia y verdad: y yo también os haré bien, por esto que habéis hecho.
And now Jehovah shew kindness and faithfulness to you; and I also will requite you this good, because ye have done this thing.
7 Esfuércense pues ahora vuestras manos, y sed valientes, pues que muerto Saul vuestro señor, los de la casa de Judá me han ungido por rey sobre sí.
And now let your hands be strong, and be ye valiant; for your master Saul is dead, and also the house of Judah have anointed me king over them.
8 Y Abner, hijo de Ner, general del ejército de Saul, tomó a Is-boset, hijo de Saul, e hízole pasar al real.
And Abner the son of Ner, captain of Saul's host, took Ishbosheth the son of Saul, and brought him over to Mahanaim;
9 Y alzóle por rey sobre Galaad, y sobre Gessuri, y sobre Jezrael, y sobre Efraím, y sobre Ben-jamín, y sobre todo Israel.
and made him king over Gilead, and over the Asshurites, and over Jizreel, and over Ephraim, and over Benjamin, and over all Israel.
10 De cuarenta años era Is-boset, hijo de Saul, cuando comenzó a reinar sobre Israel, y reinó dos años: sola la casa de Judá seguía a David.
Ishbosheth Saul's son was forty years old when he began to reign over Israel, and he reigned two years. However, the house of Judah followed David.
11 Y fue el número de los días que David reinó en Hebrón sobre la casa de Judá, siete años y seis meses.
And the time that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months.
12 Y Abner, hijo de Ner, salió del real a Gabaón con los siervos de Is-boset, hijo de Saul.
And Abner the son of Ner, and the servants of Ishbosheth the son of Saul, went out from Mahanaim to Gibeon.
13 Y Joab, hijo de Sarvia, y los criados de David salieron, y encontráronlos junto al estanque de Gabaón; y como se juntaron, los unos se pararon de la una parte del estanque, y los otros de la otra.
And Joab the son of Zeruiah, and the servants of David, went out. And they met together by the pool of Gibeon; and they sat down, these on the one side of the pool, and those on the other side of the pool.
14 Y dijo Abner a Joab: Levántense ahora los mancebos, y jueguen delante de nosotros. Y Joab respondió: Levanten.
And Abner said to Joab, Let the young men now arise and make sport before us. And Joab said, Let them arise.
15 Entonces levantáronse, y pasaron doce por cuenta de Ben-jamín de la parte de Is-boset, hijo de Saul: y otros doce de los siervos de David.
And they arose and went over by number, twelve for Benjamin, and for Ishbosheth the son of Saul, and twelve of the servants of David.
16 Y cada uno echó mano de la cabeza de su compañero, y metió su espada por el lado de su compañero, y cayeron a una: y fue llamado aquel lugar Helcat-assurim, el cual es en Gabaón.
And they caught every one his fellow by the head, and [thrust] his sword in his fellow's side, and they fell down together. And that place was called Helkath-hazzurim, which is by Gibeon.
17 Y hubo aquel día una batalla muy recia, donde Abner y los varones de Israel fueron vencidos de los siervos de David.
And the battle that day was very severe; and Abner and the men of Israel were routed before the servants of David.
18 Y estaban allí los tres hijos de Sarvia, Joab, y Abisaí, y Asael. Este Asael era suelto de pies como un corzo del campo.
And there were three sons of Zeruiah there, Joab, and Abishai, and Asahel. Now Asahel was swift of foot, as one of the gazelles that are in the field.
19 El cual Asael siguió a Abner, yendo sin apartarse a diestra ni a siniestra en pos de Abner.
And Asahel pursued after Abner; and in going he turned not to the right hand nor to the left from behind Abner.
20 Y Abner miró atrás, y dijo: ¿No eres tú Asael? Y él respondió: Sí.
Then Abner looked behind him, and said, Art thou Asahel? And he said, I am.
21 Entonces Abner le dijo: Apártate, o a la derecha, o a la izquierda, y préndete alguno de los mancebos, y tómate sus despojos. Y Asael no quiso apartarse de en pos de él.
And Abner said to him, Turn thee aside, to thy right hand or to thy left, and lay hold of one of the young men, and take for thyself his armour. But Asahel would not turn aside from following him.
22 Y Abner tornó a decir a Asael: Apártate de en pos de mí, porque te heriré en tierra, y después ¿cómo levantaré mi rostro a tu hermano Joab?
And Abner said again to Asahel, Turn thee aside from following me: why should I smite thee to the ground? how then should I hold up my face to Joab thy brother?
23 Y no queriendo él irse, hirióle Abner con la parte opuesta de la lanza, junto a la quinta costilla, y la lanza le salió por las espaldas, y cayó allí, y murió en aquel mismo lugar. Y todos los que venían por aquel lugar donde Asael había caído, y estaba muerto, se paraban.
But he refused to turn aside; therefore Abner with the hinder end of the spear smote him in the belly, so that the spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died in the same place. And it came to pass, that as many as came to the place where Asahel fell down and died stood still.
24 Y Joab y Abisaí siguieron a Abner, y púsoseles el sol, cuando llegaron al collado de Amma, que está delante de Gia, junto al camino del desierto de Gabaón.
And Joab and Abishai pursued after Abner; and the sun went down when they came to the hill of Ammah, which is before Giah on the way to the wilderness of Gibeon.
25 Y juntáronse los hijos de Ben-jamín en un escuadrón con Abner; y paráronse en la cumbre del collado.
And the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together after Abner, and became one troop, and stood on the top of a hill.
26 Y Abner dio voces a Joab, diciendo: ¿Consumirá la espada perpetuamente? ¿No sabes tú que al cabo se sigue amargura? ¿Hasta cuándo no has de decir al pueblo que se vuelvan de seguir a sus hermanos?
And Abner called to Joab, and said, Shall the sword devour for ever? knowest thou not that it will be bitterness in the latter end? and how long shall it be ere thou bid the people return from following their brethren?
27 Y Joab respondió: Vive Dios que si no hubieras hablado, ya desde esta mañana el pueblo hubiera cesado de seguir a sus hermanos.
And Joab said, [As] God liveth, unless thou hadst spoken, surely then in the morning the people had gone up every one from following his brother.
28 Entonces Joab tocó el cuerno, y todo el pueblo se detuvo, y no siguió más a los de Israel, ni peleó más.
And Joab blew the trumpet, and all the people stood still, and pursued after Israel no more, neither did they fight any more.
29 Y Abner y los suyos se fueron por la campaña toda aquella noche, y pasando el Jordán caminaron por todo Bet-orón, y vinieron al real.
And Abner and his men walked all that night through the plain, and passed over the Jordan, and went through all Bithron, and they came to Mahanaim.
30 Joab también vuelto de seguir a Abner, juntando todo el pueblo, faltaron de los siervos de David diez y nueve hombres, y Asael.
And Joab returned from following Abner, and gathered all the people together; and there lacked of David's servants nineteen men, and Asahel.
31 Y los siervos de David hirieron de los de Ben-jamín, y de los de Abner: trescientos y sesenta hombres murieron. Y tomaron a Asael, y sepultáronle en el sepulcro de su padre en Belén.
And the servants of David had smitten of Benjamin, and of Abner's men, three hundred and sixty men, who had died.
32 Y caminaron toda aquella noche, Joab y los suyos: y amanecióles en Hebrón.
And they took up Asahel, and buried him in the sepulchre of his father, which was in Bethlehem. And Joab and his men went all night, and they came to Hebron at break of day.
