2 Samuel 11

1 Y aconteció a la vuelta del año, en el tiempo que salen los reyes a la guerra, que David envió a Joab, y a sus siervos con él, y a todo Israel, y destruyeron a los Ammonitas; y pusieron cerco a Rabba: y quedóse David en Jerusalem.

And it came to pass, at the return of the year, at the time when kings go out to battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel. And they destroyed the sons of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem.

2 Y aconteció que levantándose David de su cama a la hora de la tarde, paseándose por la techumbre de la casa real, vio desde la techumbre una mujer que se estaba lavando, la cual era muy hermosa.

And it came to pass at evening, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.

3 Y envió David a preguntar por aquella mujer; y dijéronle: Aquella es Bersabée, hija de Eliam, mujer de Urías Jetteo.

And David sent and inquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?

4 Y envió David mensajeros, y tomóla; la cual como entró a él, él durmió con ella; y ella se santificó de su inmundicia, y se volvió a su casa.

And David sent messengers, and took her. And she came in to him, and he lay with her (for she was purified from her uncleanness), and she returned to her house.

5 Y concibió la mujer, y envió a hacerlo saber a David, diciendo: Yo estoy preñada.

And the woman conceived. And she sent and told David, and said, I am with child.

6 Entonces David envió a Joab, diciendo: Envíame a Urías Jetteo. Y Joab envió a Urías a David.

And David sent to Joab, saying, Send me Uriah the Hittite. And Joab sent Uriah to David.

7 Y como Urías vino a él, David le preguntó por la salud de Joab, y por la salud del pueblo, y asimismo de la guerra.

And when Uriah came to him, David asked of him how Joab did, and how the people fared, and how the war prospered.

8 Después David dijo a Urías: Desciende a tu casa, y lava tus pies. Y saliendo Urías de casa del rey, vino tras de él comida real.

And David said to Uriah, Go down to thy house, and wash thy feet. And Uriah departed out of the king's house, and a gift from the king followed him.

9 Mas Urías durmió a la puerta de la casa real, con todos los siervos de su señor: y no descendió a su casa.

But Uriah slept at the door of the king's house with all the servants of his lord, and did not go down to his house.

10 E hicieron saber esto a David, diciendo: Urías no descendió a su casa, y David dijo a Urías: ¿No has venido de camino? ¿Por qué pues no descendiste a tu casa?

And when they had told David, saying, Uriah did not go down to his house, David said to Uriah, Have thou not come from a journey? Why did thou not go down to thy house?

11 Y Urías respondió a David: El arca, e Israel, y Judá están debajo de tiendas, y mi señor Joab, y los siervos de mi señor sobre la haz del campo; ¿y había yo de entrar en mi casa para comer y para beber, y para dormir con mi mujer? Por vida tuya, y por vida de tu alma, que yo no haga tal cosa.

And Uriah said to David, The ark, and Israel, and Judah, abide in booths, and my lord Joab, and the servants of my lord, are encamped in the open field. Shall I then go into my house, to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? As thou live, and as thy soul lives, I will not do this thing.

12 Y David dijo a Urías: Estáte aquí aun hoy, y mañana te despacharé. Y Urías se quedó en Jerusalem aquel día, y el siguiente.

And David said to Uriah, Remain here today also, and tomorrow I will let thee depart. So Uriah abode in Jerusalem that day, and the morrow.

13 Y David le convidó: y le hizo comer, y beber delante de sí, y le embriagó. Y él salió a la tarde a dormir en su cama con los siervos de su señor: mas no descendió a su casa.

And when David had called him, he ate and drank before him, and he made him drunk. And at evening he went out to lie on his bed with the servants of his lord, but did not go down to his house.

14 Venida la mañana, David escribió una carta a Joab, la cual envió por mano de Urías.

And it came to pass in the morning, that David wrote a letter to Joab, and sent it by the hand of Uriah.

15 Y escribió en la carta, diciendo: Ponéd a Urías delante de la fuerza de la batalla: y dejádle a sus espaldas para que sea herido, y muera.

And he wrote in the letter, saying, Set ye Uriah in the forefront of the hottest battle, and retire ye from him, that he may be smitten, and die.

16 Y aconteció, que cuando Joab cercó la ciudad, puso a Urías en el lugar donde sabía que estaban los más valientes hombres.

And it came to pass, when Joab kept watch upon the city, that he assigned Uriah to the place where he knew that valiant men were.

17 Y como salieron los de la ciudad, pelearon con Joab, y cayeron algunos del pueblo de los siervos de David: y murió también Urías Jetteo.

And the men of the city went out, and fought with Joab. And there fell some of the people, even of the servants of David, and Uriah the Hittite died also.

18 Y envió Joab, e hizo saber a David todos los negocios de la guerra.

Then Joab sent and told David all the things concerning the war.

19 Y mandó al mensajero, diciendo: Cuando acabares de contar al rey todos los negocios de la guerra,

And he charged the messenger, saying, When thou have made an end of telling all the things concerning the war to the king,

20 Si el rey comenzare a enojarse, y te dijere: ¿Por qué os acercasteis a la ciudad peleando? ¿No sabíais lo que suelen echar del muro?

it shall be that, if the king's wrath arise, and he says to thee, Why did ye go so near to the city to fight? Did ye not know that they would shoot from the wall?

21 ¿Quién hirió a Abimelec, hijo de Jerubeset? ¿No echó una mujer del muro un pedazo de una rueda de molino, y murió en Tebes? ¿Por qué os llegabais al muro? Entonces tú le dirás: También tu siervo Urías Jetteo es muerto.

Who smote Abimelech the son of Jerubbesheth? Did not a woman cast an upper millstone upon him from the wall so that he died at Thebez? Why did ye go so near the wall? Then thou shall say, Thy servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.

22 Y fue el mensajero, y viniendo, contó a David todas las cosas, por las cuales Joab le había enviado.

So the messenger went, and came and told David all that Joab had sent him.

23 Y dijo el mensajero a David: Prevalecieron contra nosotros los varones, salidos a nosotros al campo; mas nosotros los tornamos hasta la entrada de la puerta.

And the messenger said to David, The men prevailed against us, and came out to us into the field, and we were upon them even to the entrance of the gate.

24 Y los flecheros tiraron contra tus siervos desde el muro, y murieron algunos de los siervos del rey: y murió también tu siervo Urías Jetteo.

And the shooters shot at thy servants from off the wall. And some of the king's servants are dead, and thy servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.

25 Y David dijo al mensajero: Dirás así a Joab: No tengas pesar de esto, que de esta y de esta manera suele comer la espada. Fortifica la batalla contra la ciudad, hasta que la derribes. Y tú esfuérzale.

Then David said to the messenger, Thus thou shall say to Joab, Let not this thing displease thee, for the sword devours one as well as another. Make thy battle stronger against the city, and overthrow it. And encourage thou him.

26 Y oyendo la mujer de Urías, que Urías su marido era muerto, puso luto por su marido.

And when the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah her husband was dead, she made lamentation for her husband.

27 Y pasado el luto, envió David, y recogióla a su casa: y fue su mujer: y parióle un hijo. Mas esta cosa que David hizo, desplugo delante de Jehová.

And when the mourning was past, David sent and took her home to his house, and she became his wife, and bore him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased Jehovah.
