2 Crónicas 14
1 Y durmió Abías con sus padres, y fue sepultado en la ciudad de David: y reinó en su lugar Asa su hijo. En sus días reposó la tierra diez años.
So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David, and Asa his son reigned in his stead, —in his days, the land rested ten years.
2 E hizo Asa lo bueno y recto en los ojos de Jehová su Dios:
And Asa did that which was good and that which was right, in the eyes of Yahweh his God;
3 Porque quitó los altares del ajeno, y los altos: quebró las imágenes, y taló los bosques,
and took away the foreign altars, and the high places, —and brake in pieces the pillars, and cut in twain the Sacred Stems;
4 Y mandó a Judá que buscasen a Jehová el Dios de sus padres, e hiciesen la ley y los mandamientos.
and bade Judah seek Yahweh, God of their fathers, -and execute the law, and the commandment;
5 Y quitó de todas las ciudades de Judá los altos y las imágenes: y estuvo el reino quieto delante de él.
and removed from all the cities of Judah, the high places, and the sun-images, —and the kingdom became quiet before him.
6 Y edificó ciudades fuertes en Judá, por cuanto había paz en la tierra, y no había guerra contra él en aquellos tiempos; porque Jehová le había dado reposo.
And he built cities of defence, in Judah, —for the land had quiet, nor was there near him any war, in these years, because Yahweh had given him rest.
7 Dijo pues a Judá: Edifiquemos estas ciudades, y cerquémoslas de muros, torres, puertas, y barras, pues que la tierra es nuestra, por cuanto hemos buscado a Jehová nuestro Dios: nosotros le hemos buscado, y él nos ha dado reposo de todas partes. Y edificaron, y fueron prosperados.
Therefore said he to Judah, Let us build these cities, and let us surround them with walls and towers, doors and bars, while the land is yet before us, for we have sought Yahweh our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built, and prospered.
8 Tuvo también Asa ejército que traía escudos y lanzas, trescientos mil de Judá; y doscientos y ochenta mil de Ben-jamín, que traían escudos, y flechaban arcos: todos hombres diestros.
And it came to pass that, Asa, had a force bearing shield and spear, out of Judah, three hundred thousand, and, out of Benjamin, such as bare a buckler and trode a bow, two hundred and eighty thousand, —all these, were heroes of valour.
9 Y salió contra ellos Zara Etiope con ejército de mil millares, y trescientos carros; y vino hasta Maresa.
Then came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian, with a force of a thousand thousand, and three hundred chariots, —and he came as far as Mareshah.
10 Mas Asa salió contra él, y ordenaron la batalla en el valle de Sefata junto a Maresa.
And Asa went out to meet him, —and they set in array for battle, in the valley of Zaphonah, at Mareshah.
11 Y clamó Asa a Jehová su Dios, y dijo: Jehová, no tienes tú más con el grande, que con el que ninguna fuerza tiene, para dar ayuda. Ayúdanos, oh Jehová Dios nuestro, porque en ti estribamos, y en tu nombre venimos contra este ejército. Oh Jehová, tú eres nuestro Dios: no prevalezca contra ti el hombre.
Then Asa cried out unto Yahweh his God, and said, O Yahweh, it is, nothing with thee, to help whether with many or with such as have no strength. Help us, O Yahweh our God, for, on thee, do we lean, and, in thy name, have we come against this multitude, —O Yahweh! our God, thou art, let not, weak man, have power against thee.
12 Y Jehová deshizo los Etiopes delante de Asa, y delante de Judá; y huyeron los Etiopes.
So Yahweh smote the Ethiopians, before Asa, and before Judah, —and the Ethiopians fled.
13 Y Asa, y el pueblo que con él estaba, los siguió hasta Gerara: y cayeron los Etiopes hasta no quedar en ellos hombre a vida; porque fueron deshechos delante de Jehová y de su ejército: y tomaron un muy grande despojo.
And Asa and the people that were with him pursued as far as to Gerar, and the Ethiopians fell, so that there was no way for them to recover, for they were routed before Yahweh, and before him host, —and they carried away exceeding much spoil.
14 E hirieron todas las ciudades al derredor de Gerara; porque el terror de Jehová era sobre ellos: y saquearon todas las ciudades; porque había en ellas gran despojo.
And they smote all the cities round shout Gerar, for the dread of Yahweh was upon them, —and they plundered all the cities, for, great plunder, was there in them.
15 Asimismo dieron sobre las cabañas de los ganados, y trajeron muchas ovejas y camellos; y volviéronse a Jerusalem.
Moreover also, the tents of the cattle, they smote, —and carried off sheep in abundance, and camels, and returned to Jerusalem.
