1 Tesalonicenses 5
1 Empero acerca de los tiempos y de los momentos, no tenéis, hermanos, necesidad de que yo os escriba:
But concerning the times and seasons, brethren, you have no need that I write to you;
2 Porque vosotros sabéis perfectamente, que el día del Señor, como ladrón en la noche, así vendrá.
for you yourselves know well, that the day of the Lord is so coming like a thief in the night.
3 Que cuando dirán: Paz y seguridad: entonces vendrá sobre ellos destrucción de repente, como los dolores del parto sobre la mujer preñada; y no escaparán.
When they may say, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction comes on them, as travail upon a woman in gestation; and they can not escape.
4 Mas vosotros, hermanos, no estáis en tinieblas, para que aquel día os agarre como ladrón.
But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day may overtake you like a thief:
5 Porque todos vosotros sois hijos de la luz, e hijos del día: no somos hijos de la noche, ni hijos de las tinieblas.
for you are all the sons of light, and the sons of day: we are not of night, nor of darkness;
6 Así, pues, no durmamos como los demás; antes velemos y seamos sobrios.
then therefore let us not sleep like the rest, but watch and be sober.
7 Porque los que duermen, de noche duermen; y los que están borrachos, de noche están borrachos.
For those sleeping, sleep in the night; and those who are drunken, get drunk in the night:
8 Mas nosotros, que somos hijos del día, seamos sobrios, vistiéndonos de la coraza de fe, y de amor, y por almete de la esperanza de salud.
but let us, who are of the day, be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and divine love; and the helmet, the hope of salvation:
9 Porque no nos ha puesto Dios para ira, sino para alcanzar salud por medio de nuestro Señor Jesu Cristo:
because God did not put us forth unto wrath, but unto the obtainment of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
10 El cual murió por nosotros; para que, o que velemos, o que durmamos, vivamos juntamente con él.
the one having died for us, in order that, whether we are awake or asleep, we shall at the same time live with him.
11 Por lo cual consoláos los unos a los otros, y edificáos uno a otro, así como lo hacéis.
Therefore exhort one another, and edify either the other, as you indeed are doing.
12 Y, os rogamos, hermanos, que reconozcáis a los que trabajan entre vosotros, y os presiden en el Señor, y os amonestan;
But we intreat you, brethren, to know those who are laboring among you, and standing before you in the Lord, and admonishing you;
13 Y que los tengáis en la mayor estima, amándolos a causa de su obra: tenéd paz entre vosotros mismos.
and that you yourselves esteem them exceedingly in divine love for the sake of their work. Live in peace among yourselves.
14 Os exhortamos, pues, hermanos, que amonestéis a los que andan desordenadamente, que consoléis a los de poco ánimo, que soportéis a los flacos, que seáis sufridos para con todos.
And we, exhort you, brethren, admonish the unruly, comfort the small-souled people, support the weak, be longsuffering toward all.
15 Mirád que ninguno dé a otro mal por mal; antes seguíd siempre lo bueno los unos para con los otros, y para con todos.
See that no one may return evil for evil to any one; but always pursue good toward one another, and toward all.
16 Estád siempre gozosos.
Rejoice evermore;
17 Orád sin cesar.
pray without ceasing;
18 En todo dad gracias; porque esta es la voluntad de Dios en Cristo Jesús acerca de vosotros.
in every thing give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus towards you.
19 No apaguéis el Espíritu.
Quench not the Spirit;
20 No menospreciéis las profecías.
despise not prophesying;
21 Examinádlo todo: retenéd lo que fuere bueno.
but prove all things; and hold fast to the beautiful;
22 Apartáos de toda apariencia de mal.
abstain from every evil sight.
23 Y el mismo Dios de paz os santifique cabalmente; y que todo vuestro espíritu, y alma y cuerpo sean guardados irreprensibles para la venida del Señor nuestro Jesu Cristo.
And the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless, in the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Fiel es el que os ha llamado, el cual también lo hará.
Faithful is the one calling you, who indeed will do it.
25 Hermanos, orád por nosotros.
Brethren, pray for us.
26 Saludád a todos los hermanos con beso santo.
Salute all the brethren with a holy kiss.
27 Conjúroos por el Señor, que esta carta sea leída a todos los santos hermanos.
I adjure you in the name of the Lord, that this epistle shall be read to all the brethren.
28 La gracia de nuestro Señor Jesu Cristo sea con vosotros. Amén. La primera carta a los Tesalonicenses fue escrita de Aténas.
