1 Samuel 28
1 Y aconteció, que en aquellos días los Filisteos juntaron sus campos para pelear contra Israel. Y dijo Aquis a David: Sepas de cierto, que has de salir conmigo al campo, tú y los tuyos.
It happened in those days, that the Philistines gathered their armies together for warfare, to fight with Israel. Achish said to David, "Know assuredly that you are to go out with me to battle, you and your men."
2 Y David respondió a Aquis: Conocerás pues lo que hará tu siervo. Y Aquis dijo a David: Por eso te haré guarda de mi cabeza todos los días.
David said to Achish, "Therefore you shall know what your servant will do." Achish said to David, "therefore I will make you my bodyguard for ever."
3 Ya Samuel era muerto, y todo Israel le había endechado, y habíanle sepultado en Rama, en su ciudad: y Saul había echado de la tierra los encantadores y adivinos.
Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. Saul had removed the mediums, and spiritists, from the land.
4 Pues, como los Filisteos se juntaron, vinieron, y asentaron campo en Suna: y Saul junto a todo Israel, y asentaron campo en Gelboé.
The Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and camped in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they camped in Gilboa.
5 Y como Saul vio el campo de los Filisteos, temió, y su corazón se pasmó en gran manera.
When Saul saw the army of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart trembled greatly.
6 Y consultó Saul a Jehová, y Jehová no le respondió, ni por sueños, ni por Urim, ni por profetas.
When Saul inquired of Jehovah, Jehovah did not answer him, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.
7 Entonces Saul dijo a sus criados: Buscádme alguna mujer que tenga pitón, para que yo vaya a ella, y pregunte por medio de ella. Y sus criados le respondieron: Aquí hay una mujer en En-dor, que tiene pitón.
Then Saul said to his servants, "Find for me a woman who is a medium, that I may go to her and inquire of her." His servants said to him, "Look, there is a woman who is a medium at Endor."
8 Y disfrazóse Saul, y vistióse de otros vestidos, y se fue con dos hombres, y vinieron a aquella mujer de noche, y él dijo: Yo te ruego que me adivines con el pitón, y me hagas subir a quien yo te dijere.
Saul disguised himself, and put on other clothing, and went, he and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night. And he said, "Divine a spirit for me, please, and bring up for me the one whom I name to you."
9 Y la mujer le dijo: He aquí, tú sabes lo que Saul ha hecho, como ha talado de la tierra los pitones, y los adivinos: ¿por qué pues pones tropezón a mi vida, para hacerme matar?
The woman said to him, "Look, you know what Saul has done, how he has cut off the mediums and spiritists out of the land. Why then do you lay a snare for my life, to cause me to die?"
10 Entonces Saul le juró por Jehová, diciendo: Vive Jehová, que ningún mal te vendrá por esto.
But Saul swore to her, saying, "As Jehovah lives, no punishment will come upon you for this thing."
11 La mujer entonces dijo: ¿A quién te haré venir? Y él respondió: Házme venir a Samuel.
Then the woman said, "Whom shall I bring up to you?" He said, "Bring Samuel up for me."
12 Y viendo la mujer a Samuel, clamó a alta voz, y habló aquella mujer a Saul, diciendo:
When the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice; and the woman spoke to Saul, saying, "Why have you deceived me? For you are Saul."
13 ¿Por qué me has engañado? que tú eres Saul. Y el rey le dijo: No hayas temor. ¿Qué has visto? Y la mujer respondió a Saul: He visto dioses que suben de la tierra.
The king said to her, "Do not be afraid. For what do you see?" The woman said to Saul, "I see a god coming up out of the earth."
14 Y él le dijo: ¿Cuál es su manera? Y ella respondió: Un hombre viejo viene, y cubierto de un manto. Saul entonces entendió que era Samuel, y humillándose el rostro a tierra hízole grande reverencia.
He said to her, "What does he look like?" She said, "An old man comes up. He is covered with a robe." Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he bowed with his face to the ground, and showed respect.
15 Y Samuel dijo a Saul: ¿Por qué me has inquietado haciéndome venir? Y Saul respondió: Estoy muy congojado: que los Filisteos pelean contra mí, y Dios se ha apartado de mí, y no me responde más, ni por mano de profetas, ni por sueños: por esto te he llamado, para que me declares que tengo de hacer.
And Samuel said, "Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?" And Saul answered, "I am very distressed, for the Philistines are fighting against me, and God has turned away from me and no longer answers me, either by prophets, or by dreams. So therefore I have called on you, that you may make known to me what I should do."
16 Entonces Samuel dijo: ¿Y para qué me preguntas a mí, habiéndose apartado de ti Jehová, y es tu enemigo?
Samuel said, "Why then do you ask of me, since Jehovah has departed from you and is with your neighbor?
17 Jehová pues se ha hecho como habló por mi mano: y Jehová ha cortado el reino de tu mano, y lo ha dado a tu compañero David:
Jehovah has done to you as he spoke by me. Jehovah has torn the kingdom out of your hand, and given it to your neighbor, even to David.
18 Como tú no obedeciste a la voz de Jehová, ni cumpliste la ira de su furor sobre Amalec, por eso Jehová te ha hecho esto hoy.
Because you did not obey the voice of Jehovah, and did not execute his fierce wrath on Amalek, therefore Jehovah has done this thing to you this day.
19 Y Jehová entregará a Israel también contigo en mano de los Filisteos: y mañana seréis conmigo, tú y tus hijos: y aun el campo de Israel entregará Jehová en manos de los Filisteos.
Moreover Jehovah will deliver Israel also with you into the hand of the Philistines; and tomorrow you and your sons with you will fall. Jehovah will deliver the army of Israel also into the hand of the Philistines."
20 En aquel punto Saul cayó en tierra cuán grande era, y hubo gran temor por las palabras de Samuel, que no quedó en él esfuerzo ninguno, por que en todo aquel día, y en toda aquella noche, no había comido pan.
Then Saul fell immediately his full length on the earth, and was terrified, because of the words of Samuel. There was no strength in him; for he had eaten no bread all the day, nor all the night.
21 Entonces la mujer vino a Saul, y viéndole en grande manera turbado, díjole: He aquí que tú criada ha obedecido a tu voz, y he puesto mi alma en mi palma, y he oído las palabras que tú me has dicho:
And the woman came to Saul and saw that he was terrified, and said to him, "Look, your servant has obeyed you, and I have put my life in my hand and have listened to your words which you spoke to me.
22 Ruégote pues que tú también oigas la voz de tu sierva: yo pondré delante de ti un bocado de pan, que comas, para que te esfuerces, y vayas tu camino.
Now therefore, please listen also to the voice of your servant, and let me set a morsel of bread before you; and eat, that you may have strength, when you go on your way."
23 Y él lo rehusó, diciendo: No comeré. Mas sus criados juntamente con la mujer le constriñeron, y él los obedeció: y levantóse del suelo, y sentóse sobre una cama.
But he refused, and said, "I will not eat." But his servants, together with the woman, pressed him; and he listened to their voice. So he arose from the ground, and sat on the bed.
24 Y aquella mujer tenía en su casa un ternero grueso, el cual mató luego: y tomó harina y la amasó, y coció de ella panes sin levadura:
The woman had a fattened calf in the house. She hurried and killed it; and she took flour, and kneaded it, and baked unleavened bread of it.
25 Y trájolo delante de Saul, y de sus criados; y después que hubieron comido, levantáronse, y caminaron aquella noche.
She brought it before Saul, and before his servants; and they ate. Then they rose up, and went away that night.
