1 Samuel 23

1 E hicieron saber a David, diciendo: He aquí que los Fililsteos combaten a Ceila, y saquean las eras.

Then they told David, saying, Behold, the Philistines fight against Keilah, and they rob the threshing floors.

2 Y David consultó a Jehová, diciendo: ¿Iré a herir a estos Filisteos? Y Jehová respondió a David: Vé, hiere los Filisteos, y libra a Ceila.

Therefore David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the LORD said to David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.

3 Y los varones que estaban con David, le dijeron: He aquí que nosotros estando aquí en Judá, estamos con miedo: ¿cuánto más si fuéremos a Ceila contra el ejército de los Filisteos?

And David’s men said to him, Behold, we be afraid here in Judah: how much more then if we come to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?

4 Y David tornó a consultar a Jehová: y Jehová le respondió, y dijo: Levántate, desciende a Ceila, que yo entregaré en tu mano a los Fililsteos.

Then David inquired of the LORD yet again. And the LORD answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into your hand.

5 Y partióse David con sus hombres a Ceila, y peleó contra los Filisteos, y trajo antecogidos sus ganados, e hiriólos con grande estrago, y libró David a los de Ceila.

So David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and smote them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.

6 Y aconteció, que huyendo Abiatar, hijo de Aquimelec, a David a Ceila, vino también con el efod en su mano.

And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand.

7 Y fue dicho a Saul, como David había venido a Ceila; y dijo Saul: Dios le ha traído a mis manos: porque él está encerrado metiéndose en ciudad con puertas y cerraduras.

And it was told Saul that David was come to Keilah. And Saul said, God has delivered him into my hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that has gates and bars.

8 Y juntó Saul todo el pueblo a la batalla para descender a Ceila y poner cerco a David, y a los suyos.

And Saul called all the people together to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men.

9 Y entendiendo David que Saul pensaba contra él mal, dijo a Abiatar sacerdote: Trae el efod.

And David knew that Saul secretly practiced mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring here the ephod.

10 Y dijo David: Jehová Dios de Israel, tu siervo ha oído que Saul procura de venir contra Ceila a destruir la ciudad por causa mía.

Then said David, O LORD God of Israel, your servant has certainly heard that Saul seeks to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake.

11 ¿Entregarme han los señores de Ceila en sus manos? ¿Descenderá Saul, como tu siervo ha oído? Jehová Dios de Israel, ruégote que lo declares a tu siervo. Y Jehová dijo: Sí, que descenderá.

Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come down, as your servant has heard? O LORD God of Israel, I beseech you, tell your servant. And the LORD said, He will come down.

12 Y dijo David: ¿Entregarme han los señores de Ceila a mí, y a los varones que están conmigo en las manos de Saul? Y Jehová respondió: Sí, os entregarán.

Then said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul? And the LORD said, They will deliver you up.

13 David entonces se levantó con sus hombres, que eran como seiscientos, y saliéronse de Ceila, y fuéronse de una parte a otra. Y la nueva vino a Saul, como David se había escapado de Ceila: y dejó de salir.

Then David and his men, which were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah, and went wherever they could go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Keilah; and he declined to go forth.

14 Y David se estaba en el desierto en peñas, y habitaba en un monte en el desierto de Zif: y Saul le buscaba todos los días: mas Dios no le entregó en sus manos.

And David stayed in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand.

15 Y viendo David, que Saul había salido en busca de su vida, David se estaba en el bosque en el desierto de Zif.

And David saw that Saul was come out to seek his life: and David was in the wilderness of Ziph in a wood.

16 Y levantándose Jonatán, hijo de Saul, vino a David en el bosque, y confortó su mano en Dios:

And Jonathan Saul’s son arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God.

17 Y díjole: No tengas temor, que no te hallará la mano de Saul mi padre, y tú reinarás sobre Israel, y yo seré segundo después de ti: y aun mi padre lo sabe así.

And he said to him, Fear not: for the hand of Saul my father shall not find you; and you shall be king over Israel, and I shall be next to you; and that also Saul my father knows.

18 E hicieron ambos alianza delante de Jehová: y David se quedó en el bosque, y Jonatán se volvió a su casa.

And they two made a covenant before the LORD: and David stayed in the wood, and Jonathan went to his house.

19 Y subieron los de Zif a decir a Saul en Gabaa: ¿No está David escondido en nuestra tierra en las peñas del bosque, en el collado de Jaquila, que está a la mano derecha del desierto?

Then came up the Ziphites to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Does not David hide himself with us in strong holds in the wood, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon?

20 Por tanto, oh rey, desciende presto ahora, según todo el deseo de tu alma, y nosotros le entregaremos en la mano del rey.

Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of your soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him into the king’s hand.

21 Y Saul dijo: Benditos seáis vosotros de Jehová, que habéis tenido compasión de mí.

And Saul said, Blessed be you of the LORD; for you have compassion on me.

22 Id pues ahora, y apercibíd aun, y considerád, y ved su lugar donde tiene el pie, y quien le haya visto allí: porque me ha sido dicho, que él es en gran manera astuto.

Go, I pray you, prepare yet, and know and see his place where his haunt is, and who has seen him there: for it is told me that he deals very subtly.

23 Considerád pues, y ved todos los escondrijos donde se esconde, y volvéd a mí con la certeza, y yo iré con vosotros: que si él estuviere en la tierra, yo le buscaré con todos los millares de Judá.

See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking places where he hides himself, and come you again to me with the certainty, and I will go with you: and it shall come to pass, if he be in the land, that I will search him out throughout all the thousands of Judah.

24 Y ellos se levantaron, y se fueron a Zif delante de Saul: mas David y sus varones estaban en el desierto de Maón, en la campaña que está a la diestra del desierto.

And they arose, and went to Ziph before Saul: but David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the plain on the south of Jeshimon.

25 Y partióse Saul con sus varones a buscarle: y fue dado aviso a David, y descendió de allí a la peña, y quedóse en el desierto de Maón. Lo cual como Saul oyó, siguió a David al desierto de Maón.

Saul also and his men went to seek him. And they told David; why he came down into a rock, and stayed in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon.

26 Y Saul iba por el un lado del monte, y David con los suyos por el otro lado del monte, y David se daba priesa para ir delante de Saul: mas Saul y los suyos encerraron a David y a los suyos para tomarlos.

And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them.

27 Entonces vino un mensajero a Saul, diciendo: Ven luego, porque los Filisteos han entrado con ímpetu en la tierra.

But there came a messenger to Saul, saying, Haste you, and come; for the Philistines have invaded the land.

28 Y así se volvió Saul de perseguir a David, y partióse contra los Filisteos. Por esta causa pusieron nombre a aquel lugar, Sela-hammalecot.

Why Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines: therefore they called that place Selahammahlekoth.

29 Entonces David subió de allí, y habitó en las fortalezas de Engadí.

And David went up from there, and dwelled in strong holds at Engedi.
