1 Pedro 4
1 Pues que Cristo ha padecido por nosotros en la carne, vosotros también estád armados del mismo pensamiento: que el que ha padecido en la carne, cesó de pecado;
Therefore, since Christ has suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same mentality, because whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,
2 Para que ya el tiempo que queda en carne, viva, no a las concupiscencias de los hombres, sino a la voluntad de Dios.
so as to live his remaining time in the flesh no longer for the evil desires of men, but for the will of God.
3 Porque nos debe bastar que el tiempo pasado de nuestra vida hayamos hecho la voluntad de los Gentiles, cuando conversábamos en lujurias, en concupiscencias, en embriagueces, en glotonerías, en beberes, y en abominables idolatrías.
For we have spent enough of our lives doing what the Gentiles like to do, walking in sensual indulgences, evil desires, excesses of wine, revelries, drinking bouts, and illicit idolatries.
4 En lo cual les parece cosa extraña de que vosotros no corráis juntamente con ellos en el mismo desenfrenamiento de disolución, ultrajándo os:
They are surprised when you do not run with them into the same flood of debauchery, so they revile you.
5 Los cuales darán cuenta al que está aparejado para juzgar los vivos y los muertos.
But they will give an account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.
6 Porque por esto ha sido predicado también el evangelio a los muertos; para que sean juzgados según los hombres en la carne, mas vivan según Dios en el espíritu.
For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to the dead, so that, though they have been judged in the flesh as men are, they might live in the spirit as God does.
7 Mas el fin de todas las cosas se acerca. Sed pues templados, y velád en oración.
The end of all things has drawn near. Therefore be alert and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers.
8 Y sobre todo tenéd entre vosotros ferviente caridad; porque la caridad cubrirá la multitud de pecados.
Above all, maintain a deep love for one another, because love will cover a multitude of sins.
9 Hospedáos amorosamente los unos a los otros sin murmuraciones.
Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.
10 Cada uno según el don que ha recibido, adminístrelo a los otros, como buenos dispensadores de las diferentes gracias de Dios.
As each of you has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
11 Si alguno habla, hable conforme a los oráculos de Dios: si alguno ministra, ministre conforme a la virtud que Dios da: para que en todas cosas sea Dios glorificado por medio de Jesu Cristo, al cual es gloria, e imperio para siempre jamás. Amén. (aiōn g165)
If anyone speaks, he should do so as one who speaks the oracles of God; if anyone serves, he should do so as one who serves from strength as God supplies it, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
12 Carísimos, no os maravilléis cuando sois examinados por fuego, (lo cual se hace para vuestra prueba, ) como si alguna cosa peregrina os aconteciese;
Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial that has come upon you to test you, as though a strange thing were happening to you.
13 Mas antes, en que sois participantes de las aflicciones de Cristo, regocijáos; para que también en la revelación de su gloria os regocijéis saltando de gozo.
But insofar as you share in the sufferings of Christ, rejoice, so that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.
14 Si sois vituperados por el nombre de Cristo, sois bienaventurados; porque el Espíritu de gloria, y de Dios reposa sobre vosotros. Cierto según ellos él es blasfemado, mas según vosotros es glorificado.
If you are reproached for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified.
15 Así que no sea ninguno de vosotros afligido como homicida, o ladrón, o malhechor, o explorador de lo ajeno.
None of you should suffer as a murderer, thief, evildoer, or meddler,
16 Pero si alguno es afligido como Cristiano, no se avergüence, antes glorifique a Dios en esta parte.
but if anyone suffers as a Christian, he should not be ashamed, but should glorify God in this matter.
17 Porque ya es tiempo que el juicio comience por la casa de Dios; y si primero comienza por nosotros, ¿qué fin será el de aquellos que no obedecen al evangelio de Dios?
For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God, and if it begins first with us, what will be the outcome for those who are disobedient to the gospel of God?
18 Y si el justo es dificultosamente salvo, ¿adónde parecerá el infiel, y el pecador?
And, “If the righteous man is scarcely saved, what will become of the ungodly man and sinner?”
19 Por lo que, aun los que son afligidos según la voluntad de Dios, encomiénden le sus almas, haciendo bien, como a su fiel Creador.
Therefore, those who suffer according to the will of God should entrust their souls to him as their faithful Creator while doing what is good.
