1 Pedro 1
1 Pedro, apóstol de Jesu Cristo, a los extranjeros que están esparcidos en Ponto, en Galacia, en Capadocia, en Asia, y en Bitinia:
PETER, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the sojourners, dispersed through Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
2 Elegidos según la presciencia de Dios el Padre, en santificación del Espíritu, para obedecer, y ser rociados con la sangre de Jesu Cristo: Gracia y paz os sea multiplicada.
elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by sanctification of the Spirit, that they might be brought to the obedience, and sprinkled with the blood of Jesus Christ: grace unto you and peace be multiplied.
3 Alabado sea el Dios y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesu Cristo, el cual según su grande misericordia nos ha reengendrado en esperanza viva, por la resurrección de Jesu Cristo de entre los muertos;
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto an animating hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 Para la herencia incorruptible, y que no puede contaminarse, ni marchitarse, conservada en los cielos para vosotros,
for an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and unfading, reserved in the heavens for you,
5 Que sois guardados en la virtud de Dios por medio de la fe, para alcanzar la salvación que está aparejada para ser manifestada en el postrimero tiempo.
who are guarded by the omnipotence of God, through faith to obtain the salvation which is ready to appear at the last time.
6 En lo cual vosotros os regocijáis grandemente, estando al presente un poco de tiempo, si es necesario, afligidos en diversas tentaciones.
Wherein ye exult, though yet for a little space, (if it must be so, ) ye are in sorrow through various trials:
7 Para que la prueba de vuestra fe, muy más preciosa que el oro, (el cual perece, mas empero es probado con fuego, ) sea hallada en alabanza, y gloria, y honra, cuando Jesu Cristo fuere manifestado:
that the test of your faith (much more precious than that of gold, which is of a perishing nature, though proved by fire) may be found unto praise and honour and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ:
8 Al cual no habiendo visto, le amáis: en el cual creyendo, aunque al presente no le veais, os alegráis con gozo inefable y lleno de gloria;
whom though ye have not seen, ye love; on whom, though ye have not as yet gazed, yet believing, ye exult with joy unutterable and glorious:
9 Recibiendo el fin de vuestra fe, que es, la salud de vuestras almas.
receiving the end of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
10 De la cual salud los profetas (que profetizaron de la gracia que había de venir en vosotros) han inquirido, y diligentemente buscado:
Concerning which salvation the prophets eagerly sought and diligently inquired, who prophesied of the grace which is come to you:
11 Escudriñando cuándo, y en qué punto de tiempo significaba el Espíritu de Cristo que estaba en ellos: el cual antes anunciaba las aflicciones que habían de venir a Cristo, y las glorias después de ellas:
investigating to what time and to what conjuncture the Spirit of Christ in them pointed, when predicting the sufferings coming upon Christ, and the glories subsequent thereto.
12 A los cuales fue revelado, que no para sí mismos, sino para nosotros administraban las cosas, que ahora os son anunciadas de los que os han predicado el evangelio, por el Espíritu Santo enviado del cielo: en las cuales cosas desean mirar los ángeles.
To whom it was revealed, that not for themselves, but for us were their ministrations employed in the things which are now declared unto you by those who have preached the gospel unto you by the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; on which things the angels bending forwards eagerly desire to gaze.
13 Por lo cual teniendo los lomos de vuestro entendimiento ceñidos, y sobrios, esperád perfectamente en la gracia que se os ha de traer en la manifestación de Jesu Cristo:
Wherefore girding up the loins of your mind, vigilant, wait with assured hope for the grace, which shall be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
14 Como hijos obedientes, no conformándoos con las concupiscencias que antes teníais estando en vuestra ignorancia;
as obedient children, not conformed to the former passions of the days of your ignorance:
15 Mas como aquel que os ha llamado es santo, semejantemente también vosotros sed santos en todo proceder;
but as he who hath called you is holy, be ye holy also in all your conduct:
16 Porque escrito está: Sed santos, porque yo soy santo.
because it is written, “Be ye holy; for I am holy.”
17 Y si invocáis por Padre a aquel que sin acepción de personas juzga según la obra de cada uno, conversád en temor todo el tiempo de vuestra peregrinación:
And if ye invoke him as Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, conduct yourselves during the time of your sojourning with jealous fear:
18 Sabiendo que habéis sido rescatados de vuestra vana conversación, (la cual recibisteis de vuestros padres, ) no con cosas corruptibles, como oro o plata;
knowing that ye have not been redeemed out of your vain manner of life, derived traditionally from your fathers, by the corruptible things, silver and gold,
19 Mas con la sangre preciosa de Cristo, como de un cordero sin mancha, y sin contaminación:
but by the precious blood of Christ, as the unblemished and spotless lamb:
20 Ya preordinado ciertamente de antes de la fundación del mundo, pero manifestado en los postrimeros tiempos por amor de vosotros,
who was indeed predestined before the foundation of the world, but manifested in these last times for us,
21 Que por medio de él creeis en Dios, el cual le resucitó de entre los muertos, y le ha dado gloria, para que vuestra fe y esperanza sea en Dios:
who by him believe in God, that raised him from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
22 Habiendo purificado vuestras almas en la obediencia de la verdad, por medio del Espíritu, para un amor hermanable, sin fingimiento amáos unos a otros entrañablemente de corazón puro:
Having purified your souls by obedience to the truth through the Spirit unto fraternal affection undissembled, love each other intensely out of a pure heart:
23 Siendo renacidos, no de simiente corruptible, sino de incorruptible, por la palabra del Dios viviente, y que permanece para siempre. (aiōn g165)
born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the quickening word of God, and which abideth for ever. (aiōn g165)
24 Porque toda carne es como yerba, y toda la gloria del hombre como la flor de la yerba: la yerba se secó, y la flor se cayó;
“For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man, as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower of it falleth off:”
