1 Hiram rey de Tiro envió también sus siervos a Salomón; desde que oyó que le habían ungido por rey en lugar de su padre; porque Hiram había siempre amado a David.
And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants to Solomon, for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the place of his father, for Hiram was ever a devotee of David.
2 Entonces envió Salomón a Hiram, diciendo:
And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying,
3 Tú sabes como mi padre David no pudo edificar casa al nombre de Jehová su Dios por las guerras que le cercaron, hasta que Jehová puso sus enemigos debajo de las plantas de sus pies.
Thou know how that David my father could not build a house for the name of Jehovah his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until Jehovah put them under the soles of his feet.
4 Ahora Jehová mi Dios me ha dado reposo de todas partes; que ni hay adversario, ni mal encuentro.
But now Jehovah my God has given me rest on every side; there is neither adversary, nor evil occurrence.
5 Por tanto ahora yo he determinado de edificar casa al nombre de Jehová mi Dios, como Jehová lo dijo a David mi padre, diciendo: Tu hijo, que yo pondré en tu lugar, en tu trono, él edificará casa a mi nombre.
And, behold, I purpose to build a house for the name of Jehovah my God, as Jehovah spoke to David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy place, he shall build the house for my name.
6 Manda pues ahora que me corten cedros del Líbano: y mis siervos estarán con los tuyos; y yo te daré por tus siervos el salario que tú dijeres: porque tú sabes bien que ninguno hay entre nosotros que sepa labrar la madera como los Sidonios.
Now therefore command thou that they cut for me cedar trees out of Lebanon. And my servants shall be with thy servants. And I will give thee wages for thy servants according to all that thou shall say, for thou know that there is not among us any that knows how to cut timber like the Sidonians.
7 Y como Hiram oyó las palabras de Salomón, holgóse en gran manera, y dijo: Bendito sea hoy Jehová, que dio hijo sabio a David sobre este pueblo tan grande.
And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed be Jehovah this day, who has given to David a wise son over this great people.
8 Y envió Hiram a Salomón, diciendo: Yo he oído lo que me enviaste a decir: Yo haré todo lo que te pluguiere acerca de la madera de cedro, y la madera de haya.
And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have heard that which thou have sent to me. I will do all thy desire concerning timber of cedar, and concerning timber of fir.
9 Mis siervos la llevarán desde el Líbano a la mar; y yo la pondré en balsas por la mar hasta el lugar, que tú me señalares; y allí se desatará, y tú la tomaras, y tú también harás mi voluntad, dando de comer a mi familia.
My servants shall bring them down from Lebanon to the sea. And I will make them into rafts to go by sea to the place that thou shall appoint me, and will cause them to be broken up there, and thou shall receive them. And thou shall accomplish my desire in giving food for my household.
10 Y dio Hiram a Salomón madera de cedro, y madera de haya, todo lo que quiso:
So Hiram gave Solomon timber of cedar and timber of fir according to all his desire.
11 Y Salomón daba a Hiram veinte mil coros de trigo para el sustento de su familia, y veinte coros de aceite limpio. Esto daba Salomón a Hiram cada un año.
And Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat for food to his household, and twenty measures of pure oil; thus Solomon gave to Hiram year by year.
12 Dio pues Jehová a Salomón sabiduría, como le había dicho: y hubo paz entre Hiram y Salomón: e hicieron alianza entre ambos.
And Jehovah gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him. And there was peace between Hiram and Solomon, and the two made a league together.
13 E impuso el rey Salomón tributo a todo Israel, y el tributo fue treinta mil hombres:
And king Solomon raised a conscription out of all Israel, and the conscription was thirty thousand men.
14 Los cuales enviaba al Líbano de diez mil en diez mil cada mes por sus veces: y como habían estado un mes en el Líbano, estábanse dos meses en sus casas: y Adoniram estaba sobre el tributo.
And he sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month by courses. They were in Lebanon a month, and at home two months. And Adoniram was over the men subject to task work.
15 Tenía también Salomón setenta mil, que llevaban las cargas: y ochenta mil cortadores en el monte;
And Solomon had seventy thousand who bore burdens, and eighty thousand who were hewers in the mountains,
16 Sin los principales gobernadores de Salomón que estaban puestos sobre la obra, que eran tres mil y trescientos, los cuales tenían cargo del pueblo que hacía la obra.
besides Solomon's chief officers who were over the work: three thousand and three hundred who bore rule over the people that labored in the work.
17 Y mandó el rey que trajesen grandes piedras, piedras de precio para los cimientos de la casa, y piedras labradas:
And the king commanded, and they hewed out great stones, costly stones, to lay the foundation of the house with shaped stone.
18 Y los albañiles de Salomón, y los de Hiram, y los aparejadores cortaron y aparejaron la madera y la cantería para labrar la casa.
And Solomon's builders and Hiram's builders and the Gebalites fashioned them, and prepared the timber and the stones to build the house.
