1 Reyes 2
1 Y llegáronse los días de David para morir, y mandó a Salomón su hijo, diciendo:
And, when the days of David drew near that he must die, he charged Solomon his son, saying: —
2 Yo voy el camino de toda la tierra; esfuérzate, y sé varón.
I, am going the way of all the earth, —thou must be strong, therefore, and show thyself a man;
3 Guarda la observancia de Jehová tu Dios andando en sus caminos, y guardando sus estatutos y mandamientos, y sus derechos, y sus testimonios, de la manera que está escrito en la ley de Moisés, para que seas dichoso en todo lo que hicieres, y en todo aquello a que te tornares.
and keep the observances of Yahweh thy God, by walking in his ways, by keeping his statutes, his commandments, and his regulations and his testimonies, as written in the law of Moses, —to the end thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself;
4 Para que confirme Jehová la palabra que me habló, diciendo: Si tus hijos guardaren su camino andando delante de mí con verdad, de todo su corazón, y de toda su alma, jamás, dice, faltará a ti varón del trono de Israel.
to the end that Yahweh may establish his word which he spake concerning me, saying, If thy sons will take heed to their way, by walking before me, in truth, with all their heart, and with all their soul, (then, said he) there shall not be cut off to thee a man, from off the throne of Israel.
5 Y también tú sabes lo que me ha hecho Joab, hijo de Sarvia, lo que hizo a dos generales del ejército de Israel, es a saber a Abner, hijo de Ner, y a Amasa, hijo de Jeter, a los cuales el asesinó, derramando en paz la sangre de guerra, y poniendo la sangre de guerra en su talabarte que tenía sobre sus lomos, y en sus zapatos que tenía en sus pies.
Moreover also, thou, knowest what Joab son of Zeruiah did to me, how he dealt with two generals of the armies of Israel—with Abner son of Ner, and with Amasa son of Jether—both of whom he slew, shedding the blood of war in peace, —and putting the blood of war upon his girdle that was on his loins, and upon his sandals, that were on his feet.
Thou, therefore, must do according to thy wisdom, —but will not let his grey hair go down in peace, to hades. (Sheol h7585)
7 A los hijos de Berzellai Galaadita harás misericordia, que sean de los convidados de tu mesa: porque ellos vinieron así a mí, cuando iba huyendo de Absalom tu hermano.
But, with the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, thou wilt deal in lovingkindness, and they will be among them who eat at thy table, —for, so, drew they near unto me, when I fled from Absolom thy brother.
8 También tienes contigo a Semeí, hijo de Gera, hijo de Jemini de Bajurim, el cual me maldijo de una maldición fuerte, el día que yo iba a Mahanaim. Mas él mismo descendió a recibirme al Jordán, y yo le juré por Jehová, diciendo: Yo no te mataré a cuchillo.
Lo! also, there is with thee—Shimei son of Gera a Benjamite, of Behurim, well, he, it was who cursed me with a grievous curse; on the day I journeyed to Mahanaim, —but he, came down to meet me, at the Jordan, and so I sware to him by Yahweh, saying—I will not put thee to death, with the sword.
9 Mas ahora no le absolverás: que hombre sabio eres, y sabes como te has de haber con él; y harás descender sus canas con sangre a la sepultura. (Sheol h7585)
Now, therefore do not hold him guiltless, for, a wise man, thou art, and wilt know how thou oughtest to deal with him, and wilt suffer his grey hairs to go down with blood, to hades. (Sheol h7585)
10 Y David durmió con sus padres, y fue sepultado en la ciudad de David.
So then David slept with his fathers, —and was buried in the city of David.
11 Los días que reinó David sobre Israel fueron cuarenta años: siete años reinó en Hebrón, y en Jerusalem reinó treinta y tres años.
Now, the days that David reigned over Israel, were forty years, —in Hebron, reigned he seven years, and, in Jerusalem, reigned he thirty and three years.
12 Y Salomón se asentó en el trono de David su padre, y fue su reino firme en gran manera.
But, when, Solomon, took his seat upon the throne of David his father, then was the kingdom firmly established.
13 Entonces Adonías, hijo de Hagit, vino a Bersabée madre de Salomón: y ella dijo: ¿Tú venida es de paz? y él respondió: Sí, de paz.
And Adonijah son of Haggith came in unto Bath-sheba, mother of Solomon: And she said—Peaceably, comest thou? And he said—Peaceably.
14 Y él dijo: Una palabra tengo que decirte. Y ella dijo: Dí. Y él dijo:
Then said he—I have somewhat to say unto thee. And she said—Say on.
15 Tú sabes que el reino era mío: y que todo Israel había puesto en mi su rostro, para que yo reinara: mas el reino fue traspasado, y vino a mi hermano: porque por Jehová era suyo.
And he said—Thou, knowest that, mine, was the kingdom, and, on me, had all Israel set their faces, that I should become king, —howbeit the kingdom, hath turned about, and become my brother’s, for, from Yahweh, became it, his.
16 Y ahora yo te pido una petición, no me hagas volver mi rostro. Y ella le dijo: Dí.
Now, therefore, one request, have I to ask of thee, do not turn away my face.
17 El entonces dijo: Yo te ruego que hables al rey Salomón, porque él no te hará volver tu rostro, para que me dé a Abisag Sunamita por mujer.
And she said unto him—Say on. And he said—Speak, I pray thee, unto Solomon the king, for he will not turn away thy face, —that he give me Abishag the Shunammite, to wife.
18 Y Bersabée dijo: Bien; yo hablaré por ti al rey.
And Bath-sheba said: Good! I myself, will speak for thee, unto the king.
19 Y vino Bersabée al rey Salomón para hablarle por Adonías: y el rey se levantó para recibirla, y se inclinó a ella, y se tornó a asentar en su trono: e hizo poner una silla a la madre del rey, la cual se sentó a su diestra.
So Bath-sheba went in unto King Solomon, to speak to him for Adonijah, —and the king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself down to her, and sat down upon his throne, and caused a throne to be set for the mother of the king, and she sat on his right hand.
20 Y ella dijo: Una pequeña petición te demando, no me hagas volver mi rostro. Y el rey le dijo: Pide, madre mía; que yo no te haré volver el rostro.
Then said she—One small request, am I asking of thee, do not turn away my face. And the king said to her—Ask on, my mother, for I will not turn away thy face.
21 Y ella dijo: Dése Abisag Sunamita por mujer a tu hermano Adonías.
And she said, Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah thy brother, to wife.
22 Y el rey Salomón respondió, y dijo a su madre: ¿Por qué pides a Abisag Sunamita para Adonías? Demanda también para él el reino; porque él es mi hermano mayor; y tiene también a Abiatar sacerdote, y a Joab hijo de Sarvia.
Then answered King Solomon, and said to his mother—Wherefore, then, art thou asking Abishag the Shunammite, for Adonijah? ask, then, for him the kingdom, because he is mine elder brother, —even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab, son of Zeruiah.
23 Y el rey Salomón juró por Jehová, diciendo: Así me haga Dios, y así me añada, que contra su vida ha hablado Adonías esta palabra.
Then swore King Solomon by Yahweh, saying, —So, let God do to me, and, so, let him add, if, at the cost of his life, Adonijah hath not spoken this word.
24 Ahora pues vive Jehová, que me ha confirmado, y me ha puesto sobre el trono de David mi padre, y que me ha hecho casa, como había dicho, que Adonías morirá hoy.
Now, therefore, by the life of Yahweh, who hath established me, and seated me upon the throne of David my father, and who hath made for me a household, as he had spoken, surely, to-day, shall Adonijah be put to death!
25 Entonces el rey Salomón envió por mano de Banaías, hijo de Joiada, el cual le hirió, y murió.
So King Solomon sent by the hand of Benaiah son of Jehoiada, —and he fell upon him, that he died.
26 Y a Abiatar el sacerdote dijo el rey: Vete a Anatot a tus heredades, que tú eres digno de muerte. Mas yo no te mataré hoy, por cuanto has llevado el arca del Señor Jehová delante de David mi padre: además de esto has sido trabajado en todas las cosas en que mi padre fue trabajado.
Also, unto Abiathar the priest, said the king—To Anathoth, get thee unto thine own fields, for, death-doomed, thou art, —but, this day, will I not put thee to death, because thou didst bear the ark of My Lord, Yahweh, before David my father, and because thou wast afflicted in all wherein my father was afflicted.
27 Y echó Salomón a Abiatar del sacerdocio de Jehová, para que se cumpliese la palabra de Jehová, que había dicho sobre la casa de Heli en Silo.
So Solomon thrust out Abiathar from being priest unto Yahweh, —to fulfil the word of Yahweh which he spake concerning the household of Eli, in Shiloh.
28 Y vino la fama hasta Joab, porque también Joab se había arrimado a Adonías, aunque no se había arrimado a Absalom, y huyó Joab al tabernáculo de Jehová, y tomó los cuernos del altar.
And, the report, came unto Joab, for, Joab, had inclined after Adonijah, although, after Solomon, he had not inclined, —so then Joab fled into the Tent of Yahweh, and laid hold of the horns of the altar.
29 Y fue hecho saber a Salomón que Joab había huido al tabernáculo de Jehová, y que estaba junto al altar. Y Salomón envió a Banaías, hijo de Joiada, diciendo: Vé, y arremete a él.
And it was told King Solomon—Joab hath fled into the Tent of Yahweh, and, there he is, beside the altar. So Solomon sent Benaiah son of Jehoiada, saying—Go fall upon him!
30 Y entró Banaías al tabernáculo de Jehová, y díjole: El rey ha dicho que salgas. Y él dijo: No, sino aquí moriré. Y Banaías volvió con esta respuesta al rey, diciendo: Así habló Joab, y así me respondió.
And Benaiah came into the Tent of Yahweh, and said unto him—Thus, saith the king, Come forth! And he said—Nay! but, here, will I die! So Benaiah brought the king word again, saying, Thus, spake Joab, and, thus, he answered me.
31 Y el rey le dijo: Haz como él ha dicho, arremete a él y entiérrale: y quita de mí, y de la casa de mi padre, la sangre que Joab ha derramado sin culpa.
And the king said to him—Do as he hath spoken, fall, then, upon him, and bury him, —and so put away the innocent blood, which Joab shed, from off me, and from off the house of my father;
32 Y Jehová hará volver su sangre sobre su cabeza; que él ha asesinado dos varones más justos y mejores que él, a los cuales mató a cuchillo sin que mi padre David supiese nada, es a saber a Abner, hijo de Ner, general del ejército de Israel, y a Amasa, hijo de Jeter, general del ejército de Judá.
thus will Yahweh bring back his blood upon his own head, in that he fell upon two men more righteous and better than he, and slew them with the sword, my father David not knowing it, —even Abner son of Ner, general of the army of Israel, and Amasa son of Jether, general of the army of Judah;
33 Mas la sangre de ellos volverá sobre la cabeza de Joab, y sobre la cabeza de su simiente perpetuamente. Y sobre David y sobre su simiente, y sobre su casa, y sobre su trono, habrá perpetuamente paz de parte de Jehová.
thus shall their blood come back upon the head of Joab, and upon the head of his seed unto times age-abiding, —but, David and his seed, and his house, and his throne, shall have peace, unto times age-abiding, from Yahweh.
34 Entonces Banaías, hijo de Joiada subió, y arremetió a él, y le mató, y fue sepultado en su casa en el desierto.
So Benaiah son of Jehoiada went up, and fell upon him, and put him to death, —and he was buried in his own house, in the wilderness.
35 Y el rey puso en su lugar a Banaías, hijo de Joiada, sobre el ejército: y a Sadoc puso el rey por sacerdote en lugar de Abiatar.
And the king put Benaiah son of Jehoiada, in his stead, over the army, —and, Zadok the priest, did the king put in the stead of Abiathar.
36 Y envió el rey, e hizo venir a Semeí, y díjole: Edifícate una casa en Jerusalem, y mora allí, y no salgas de allá a una parte ni a otra.
And the king sent, and called for Shimei, and said to him—Build thee a house, in Jerusalem, so shalt thou dwell there, —and shalt not go forth from thence, hither or thither;
37 Porque sepas de cierto que el día que salieres, y pasares el arroyo de Cedrón, sin duda morirás, y tu sangre será sobre tu cabeza.
but it shall be that, on the day thou goest forth, and passest over the Kidron ravine, know, that thou shalt, die, —thy blood, shall be, upon thine own head.
38 Y Semeí dijo al rey: La palabra es buena: como el rey mi señor ha dicho, así lo hará tu siervo. Y habitó Semeí en Jerusalem muchos días.
And Shimei said to the king—Good, is the word, as my lord the king hath spoken, so, will thy servant do. And Shimei dwelt in Jerusalem many days.
39 Y pasados tres años aconteció, que se le huyeron a Semeí dos siervos a Aquis, hijo de Maaca, rey de Get: y dieron aviso a Semeí, diciendo: He aquí que tus siervos están en Get.
But it came to pass, at the end of three years, that two of the servants of Shimei fled unto Achish son of Maachah king of Gath, —and they told Shimei, saying—Lo! thy servants are in Gath.
40 Y levantóse Semeí, y enalbardó su asno, y vino en Get a Aquis a buscar sus siervos. Y fue Semeí, y volvió sus siervos de Get.
So Shimei arose, and saddled his ass, and went to Gath, unto Achish, to seek his servants—and Shimei went and brought in his servants, from Gath.
41 Y fue dicho a Salomón, como Semeí había ido de Jerusalem hasta Get, y que había vuelto.
And it was told Solomon—Shimei hath been out of Jerusalem to Gath, and returned.
42 Entonces el rey envió, e hizo venir a Semeí y díjole: ¿No te conjuré yo por Jehová, y te protesté, diciendo: El día que salieres, y fueres acá, o acullá, sepas de cierto que has de morir? Y tú me dijiste: La palabra que he oído es buena.
Then sent the king and called for Shimei, and said unto him—Did I not put thee on oath by Yahweh, and adjure thee, saying—On the day thou goest forth and takest thy journey hither or thither, know, that thou shalt, die. Then saidst thou unto me—Good, is the word I have heard.
43 ¿Por qué pues no guardaste el juramento de Jehová, y el mandamiento que yo te mandé?
Why then, hast thou not kept the oath of Yahweh, —and the charge which I laid upon thee?
44 Y dijo más el rey a Semeí: Tú sabes todo el mal que tu corazón bien sabe, que cometiste contra mi padre David: mas Jehová ha tornado el mal sobre tu cabeza:
Then said the king unto Shimei—Thou, knowest all the wickedness which thy heart is privy to, which thou didst unto David my father, —therefore shall Yahweh bring back thy wickedness, upon thine own head.
45 Y el rey Salomón será bendito, y el trono de David será firme perpetuamente delante de Jehová.
But, King Solomon, shall be blessed, —and, the throne of David, shall be established before Yahweh, unto times age-abiding.
46 Entonces el rey mandó a Banaías, hijo de Joiada, el cual salió, y arremetió a él, y murió: y el reino fue confirmado en la mano de Salomón.
So the king charged Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and he went out and fell upon him, that he died, —and, the kingdom, was established in the hand of Solomon.
