1 Reyes 17
1 Entonces Elías Tesbita, que era de los moradores de Galaad, dijo a Acab: Vive Jehová Dios de Israel, delante del cual yo estoy, que no habrá lluvia, ni rocío en estos años, sino por mi palabra.
Then said Elijah the Tishbite, of Tishbe in Gilead, unto Ahab, By the life of Yahweh, God of Israel, before whom I stand, there shall not, these two years, be either dew or rain, —save at the bidding of my word.
2 Y fue palabra de Jehová a el, diciendo:
Then came the word of Yahweh unto him, saying:
3 Apártate de aquí, y vuélvete al oriente, y escóndete en el arroyo de Carit, que está antes del Jordán.
Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, —and hide thyself in the ravine of Cherith, which faceth the Jordan;
4 Y beberás del arroyo, y yo he mandado a los cuervos, que te den allí de comer.
and it shall be that, of the torrent, shalt thou drink, —and, the ravens, have I commanded to sustain thee, there.
5 Y él fue, e hizo conforme a la palabra de Jehová: y fuése y asentó junto al arroyo de Carit, que está antes del Jordán.
So he went and did, according to the word of Yahweh, —yea he went and dwelt in the ravine of Cherith, which faceth the Jordan.
6 Y los cuervos le traían pan y carne por la mañana, y pan y carne a la tarde, y bebía del arroyo.
And, the ravens, used to bring him bread and flesh, in the morning, and bread and flesh, in the evening, —and, of the torrent, used he to drink.
7 Pasados algunos días, el arroyo se secó; porque no había llovido sobre la tierra.
But it came to pass, at the end of [certain] days, that the torrent dried up, —because there had been no rain in the land.
8 Y fue a él palabra de Jehová, diciendo:
Then came the word of Yahweh unto him, saying—
9 Levántate, vete a Sarepta de Sidón, y allí morarás: he aquí que yo he mandado allí a una mujer viuda que te sustente.
Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there, —Lo! I have commanded, there, a widow woman, to sustain thee.
10 Entonces él se levantó; y se fue a Sarepta. Y como llegó a la puerta de la ciudad, he aquí una mujer viuda que estaba allí cogiendo serojas: y él la llamó, y díjole: Ruégote que me traigas una poca de agua en un vaso, que beba.
So he arose and went to Zarephath, and, when he came to the entrance of the city, lo! there, a widow woman gathering sticks, —and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.
11 Y yendo ella para traérsela, él la volvió a llamar, y díjole: Ruégote que me traigas también un bocado de pan en tu mano.
And, as she went to fetch it, he called to her and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread, in thy hand.
12 Y ella respondió: Vive Jehová Dios tuyo, que no tengo pan cocido: que solamente un puño de harina tengo en la tinaja, y un poco de aceite en una botija: y ahora cogía dos serojas, para entrarme y aparejarlo para mí y para mi hijo, y que lo comamos, y después nos muramos.
And she said—By the life of Yahweh, thy God, verily I have not a cake, only a handful of meal in the jar, and a little oil in the cruse, —and lo! I have been gathering a couple of sticks, so I shall go in and make it ready for me and for my son, that we may eat it—and die!
13 Y Elías le dijo: No hayas temor: vé, haz como has dicho; empero házme a mí primero de ahí una pequeña torta debajo de la ceniza y traémela: y después harás para ti y para tu hijo.
And Elijah said unto her—Do not fear, go in—make ready according to thy word, —howbeit, make me thereof a little cake, first, and bring it out to me, and, for thyself and thy son, make ready, afterwards.
14 Porque Jehová Dios de Israel dijo así: La tinaja de la harina no faltará, ni la botija del aceite se disminuirá, hasta aquel día en que Jehová dará lluvia sobre la haz de la tierra.
For, thus, saith Yahweh, God of Israel, The jar of meal, shall not waste, and, the cruse of oil, shall not fail, —until the day that Yahweh giveth rain upon the face of the ground.
15 Entonces ella fue, e hizo como le dijo Elías, y comió él, y ella, y su casa algunos días.
So she went and made ready, according to the word of Elijah, —and did eat, she, and he, and her house, [certain] days:
16 Y la tinaja de la harina nunca faltó, ni la botija del aceite menguó, conforme a la palabra de Jehová, que había dicho por Elías.
The jar of meal, did not waste, —and, the cruse of oil, did not fail, —according to the word of Yahweh, which he spake through Elijah.
17 Después de estas cosas aconteció, que cayó enfermo el hijo de la señora de la casa, y la enfermedad fue tan grave, que no quedó en él resuello.
And it came to pass, after these things, that the son of the woman, owner of the house, fell sick, —yea it came to pass that his sickness was very severe, until no, breath, was left in him.
18 Y ella dijo a Elías: ¿Qué tengo yo contigo varón de Dios? ¿Has venido a mí para traer en memoria mis iniquidades, y para hacerme morir mi hijo?
Then said she unto Elijah, What have I in common with thee, O man of God? Hast thou come unto me, to call to remembrance mine iniquity, and to cause the death of my son?
19 Y él le dijo: Dáme acá tu hijo: entonces él le tomó de su regazo, y le llevó a la cámara donde él estaba, y púsole sobre su cama;
And he said unto her—Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him unto the upper room, where, he, was staying, and laid him upon his own bed.
20 Y clamando a Jehová, dijo: ¿Jehová Dios mío, aun la viuda en cuya casa yo soy hospedado, has afligido, matándole su hijo?
Then cried he unto Yahweh, and said, —O Yahweh, my God! Even upon the widow with whom I am sojourning, hast thou brought misfortune by causing the death of her son?
21 Y midióse sobre el niño tres veces, y clamó a Jehová, y dijo: Jehová Dios mío, ruégote que vuelva el alma de este niño a sus entrañas.
And he stretched himself out upon the boy, three times, and cried unto Yahweh, and said, —O Yahweh, my God! Let the life of this boy, I pray thee, come again within him.
22 Y Jehová oyó la voz de Elías, y el alma del niño volvió a sus entrañas, y revivió.
And Yahweh hearkened unto the voice of Elijah, —and the life of the boy came again within him, and he lived.
23 Y tomando Elías al niño, trájole de la cámara a la casa, y dióle a su madre, y díjole Elías: Mira, tu hijo vive.
Then Elijah took the boy, and carried him down out of the upper room, into the house, and gave him to his mother, —and Elijah said, See! thy son liveth.
24 Entonces la mujer dijo a Elías: Yo conozco ahora que tú eres varón de Dios: y que la palabra de Jehová es verdad en tu boca.
And the woman said unto Elijah, Now, then I know, that, a man of God, thou art, —and that, the word of Yahweh, is in thy mouth, of a truth.
