1 Reyes 14

1 En aquel tiempo Abías, hijo de Jeroboam, cayó enfermo.

At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam became sick.

2 Y dijo Jeroboam a su mujer: Levántate ahora, y disfrázate, porque no te conozcan que eres la mujer de Jeroboam; y vé a Silo, que allá está Ahías profeta, el que me dijo que yo había de ser rey sobre este pueblo.

Jeroboam said to his wife, “Please get up and disguise yourself, so that you won’t be recognized as Jeroboam’s wife. Go to Shiloh. Behold, Ahijah the prophet is there, who said that I would be king over this people.

3 Y toma en tu mano diez panes, y turrones, y una botija de miel, y vé a él: para que te declare lo que ha de ser de este mozo.

Take with you ten loaves of bread, some cakes, and a jar of honey, and go to him. He will tell you what will become of the child.”

4 Y la mujer de Jeroboam hízolo así: y levantóse, y fue a Silo, y vino a casa de Ahías: y Ahías no podía ya ver, que sus ojos se habían oscurecido a causa de su vejez.

Jeroboam’s wife did so, and arose and went to Shiloh, and came to Ahijah’s house. Now Ahijah could not see, for his eyes were set by reason of his age.

5 Mas Jehová había dicho a Ahías: He aquí que la mujer de Jeroboam vendrá a consultarte por su hijo que está enfermo. Tu, pues, responderle has así, y así:

Yahweh said to Ahijah, “Behold, Jeroboam’s wife is coming to inquire of you concerning her son, for he is sick. Tell her such and such; for it will be, when she comes in, that she will pretend to be another woman.”

6 Y será, que cuando ella vendrá, vendrá disimulada. Y como Ahías oyó el sonido de sus pies, que entraba por la puerta, dijo: Entra mujer de Jeroboam, ¿por qué te disimulas? empero yo soy enviado a ti con revelación dura.

So when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet as she came in at the door, he said, “Come in, Jeroboam’s wife! Why do you pretend to be another? For I am sent to you with heavy news.

7 Vé, y di a Jeroboam: Así dijo Jehová Dios de Israel: Por cuanto yo te levanté de en medio del pueblo, y te hice príncipe sobre mi pueblo Israel:

Go, tell Jeroboam, ‘Yahweh, the God of Israel, says: “Because I exalted you from among the people, and made you prince over my people Israel,

8 Y rompí el reino de la casa de David, y te lo entregué a ti: y tú no has sido como David mi siervo, que guardó mis mandamientos, y anduvo en pos de mí con todo su corazón, haciendo solamente lo que era derecho delante de mis ojos;

and tore the kingdom away from David’s house, and gave it to you; and yet you have not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in my eyes,

9 Antes hiciste lo malo sobre todos los que han sido antes de ti: que fuiste, y te hiciste otros dioses y fundiciones para enojarme, y a mí me echaste tras tus espaldas:

but have done evil above all who were before you, and have gone and made for yourself other gods, molten images, to provoke me to anger, and have cast me behind your back,

10 Por tanto he aquí que yo traigo mal sobre la casa de Jeroboam; y yo talaré de Jeroboam todo meante a la pared, así el guardado, como el desamparado en Israel: y yo barreré la posteridad de la casa de Jeroboam; como es barrido el estiércol, hasta que sea acabada.

therefore, behold, I will bring evil on the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam everyone who urinates on a wall, he who is shut up and he who is left at large in Israel, and will utterly sweep away the house of Jeroboam, as a man sweeps away dung until it is all gone.

11 El que muriere de los de Jeroboam en la ciudad, los perros le comerán: y el que muriere en el campo, comerle han las aves del cielo; porque Jehová lo ha dicho.

The dogs will eat he who belongs to Jeroboam who dies in the city; and the birds of the sky will eat he who dies in the field, for Yahweh has spoken it.”’

12 Y tú levántate y vete a tu casa, que en entrando tu pie en la ciudad, el mozo morirá;

Arise therefore, and go to your house. When your feet enter into the city, the child will die.

13 Y todo Israel le endechará, y enterrarle han; porque aquel solo de los de Jeroboam entrará en sepultura; por cuanto se ha hallado en él alguna cosa buena de Jehová Dios de Israel, en la casa de Jeroboam.

All Israel will mourn for him and bury him; for he only of Jeroboam will come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward Yahweh, the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam.

14 Y Jehová se despartará rey sobre Israel, que talará la casa de Jeroboam en este día: ¿y qué, si ahora?

Moreover Yahweh will raise up a king for himself over Israel who will cut off the house of Jeroboam. This is the day! What? Even now.

15 Y Jehová herirá a Israel, como la caña que se mueve en las aguas: y él arrancará a Israel de esta buena tierra, que él había dado a sus padres, y esparcirlos ha de la otra parte del río, por cuanto han hecho sus bosques, enojando a Jehová.

For Yahweh will strike Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water; and he will root up Israel out of this good land which he gave to their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the River, because they have made their Asherah poles, provoking Yahweh to anger.

16 Y él entregará a Israel por los pecados de Jeroboam, el cual pecó, y ha hecho pecar a Israel.

He will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, which he has sinned, and with which he has made Israel to sin.”

17 Entonces la mujer de Jeroboam se levantó, y se fue, y vino a Tersa: y entrando ella por el umbral de la casa, el mozo murió.

Jeroboam’s wife arose and departed, and came to Tirzah. As she came to the threshold of the house, the child died.

18 Y le enterraron, y todo Israel le endechó, conforme a la palabra de Jehová, que él había hablado por mano de su siervo Ahías profeta.

All Israel buried him and mourned for him, according to Yahweh’s word, which he spoke by his servant Ahijah the prophet.

19 Los otros hechos de Jeroboam, que guerras hizo, y como reinó, todo está escrito en el libro de las palabras de los días de los reyes de Israel.

The rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he fought and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

20 El tiempo que reinó Jeroboam, fueron veinte y dos años: y habiendo dormido con sus padres, reinó en su lugar Nadab su hijo.

The days which Jeroboam reigned were twenty two years; then he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his son reigned in his place.

21 Y Roboam, hijo de Salomón, reinó en Judá. De cuarenta y un años era Roboam cuando comenzó a reinar; y diez y siete años reinó en Jerusalem, ciudad que Jehová eligió de todas las tribus de Israel para poner allí su nombre. El nombre de su madre fue Naama Ammonita.

Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which Yahweh had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. His mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonitess.

22 Y Judá hizo lo malo en los ojos de Jehová, y enojáronle más que todo lo que sus padres habían hecho en sus pecados que pecaron.

Judah did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they committed, above all that their fathers had done.

23 Porque ellos también se edificaron altos, estatuas, y bosques en todo collado alto, y debajo de todo árbol sombrío.

For they also built for themselves high places, sacred pillars, and Asherah poles on every high hill and under every green tree.

24 Hubo también sodomitas en la tierra, e hicieron conforme a todas las abominaciones de las gentes, que Jehová había echado delante de los hijos de Israel.

There were also sodomites in the land. They did according to all the abominations of the nations which Yahweh drove out before the children of Israel.

25 Al quinto año del rey Roboam subió Sesac rey de Egipto contra Jerusalem.

In the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem;

26 Y tomó los tesoros de la casa de Jehová, y los tesoros de la casa real, y saqueólo todo. Y tomó todos los escudos de oro, que Salomón había hecho.

and he took away the treasures of Yahweh’s house and the treasures of the king’s house. He even took away all of it, including all the gold shields which Solomon had made.

27 E hizo el rey Roboam en lugar de ellos escudos de metal, y dióles en mano de los capitanes de los de la guardia, que guardaban la puerta de la casa real.

King Rehoboam made shields of bronze in their place, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who kept the door of the king’s house.

28 Y cuando el rey entraba en la casa de Jehová, los de la guardia los llevaban: y después los ponían en la cámara de los de la guardia.

It was so, that as often as the king went into Yahweh’s house, the guard bore them, and brought them back into the guard room.

29 Lo demás de los hechos de Roboam, y todas las cosas que hizo, ¿no están escritas en las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

Now the rest of the acts of Rehoboam, and all that he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

30 Y hubo guerra entre Roboam y Jeroboam todos los días.

There was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.

31 Y durmió Roboam con sus padres, y fue sepultado con sus padres en la ciudad de David. El nombre de su madre fue Naama Ammonita. Y reinó en su lugar Abiam su hijo.

Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in David’s city. His mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonitess. Abijam his son reigned in his place.
