Salmos 73

1 Ciertamente ʼElohim es bueno con Israel, Con los que son puros de corazón.

“BOOK III. A psalm of Asaph.” Truly God is good to Israel, —To those who are pure in heart.

2 En cuanto a mí, casi se deslizan mis pies. Por poco resbalan mis pasos.

Yet my feet almost gave way; My steps had well nigh slipped:

3 Porque tuve envidia de los arrogantes Al ver la prosperidad de los perversos.

For I was envious of the proud, When I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

4 Porque no hay dolores en su muerte, Y su cuerpo está lleno de grasa.

For they have no pains even to their death; Their bodies are in full health.

5 No pasan trabajos como los otros hombres, Ni son plagados como los demás.

They have not the woes of other men, Neither are they smitten like other men.

6 Por tanto la arrogancia es su collar. Los envuelve un manto de violencia.

Therefore pride encircleth their neck as a collar; Violence covereth them as a garment.

7 Los ojos se les saltan por la gordura, Y logran con creces los deseos del corazón.

From their bosom issueth their iniquity; The designs of their hearts burst forth.

8 Se burlan y hablan perversamente de opresión. Hablan con altanería.

They mock, and speak of malicious oppression; Their words are haughty;

9 Ponen su boca hacia el cielo, Pero su boca desfila por la tierra.

They stretch forth their mouth to the heavens, And their tongue goeth through the earth;

10 Por tanto su pueblo vuelve a este lugar, Y bebe aguas en abundancia.

Therefore his people walk in their ways, And there drink from full fountains.

11 Y dicen: ¿Cómo puede ʼEL saber? ¿Hay conocimiento en ʼElyón?

And they say, “How doth God know? How can there be knowledge with the Most High?”

12 Ciertamente así son los perversos, Y fácilmente aumentan su riqueza.

Behold these are the ungodly! Yet they are ever prosperous; they heap up riches.

13 En verdad, en vano guardé puro mi corazón, Y lavé mis manos en inocencia.

Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain; In vain have I washed my hands in innocence.

14 Pues soy azotado todo el día, Y castigado cada mañana.

For every day have I been smitten; Every morn have I been chastened.

15 Si dijera yo: Hablaré como ellos, Claro que traicionaría a la generación de tus hijos.

If I should resolve to speak like them, Surely I should be treacherous to the family of thy children.

16 Cuando meditaba para entender esto, Fue ardua tarea para mí.

So, when I studied to know this, It was painful to my eyes;

17 Hasta que al entrar en el Santuario de ʼEL Percibí el fin de ellos.

Until I went into the sanctuaries of God, And considered what was their end.

18 Ciertamente los colocaste en deslizaderos, Los lanzaste a la destrucción.

Behold! thou hast set them on slippery places; Thou castest them down into unseen pits.

19 ¡Cómo son destruidos de repente! ¡Son absolutamente consumidos por repentinos terrores!

How are they brought to desolation in a moment, And utterly consumed with sudden destruction!

20 Como cuando uno despierta de un sueño, Así ʼAdonay, cuando Tú despiertes, Despreciarás su apariencia.

As a dream when one awaketh, Thou, O Lord! when thou awakest, wilt make their vain show a derision.

21 Cuando mi corazón se amargaba Y me sentía traspasado,

When my heart was vexed And I was pierced in my reins,

22 Era entonces torpe e ignorante, Como una bestia ante Ti.

Then was I stupid and without understanding; I was like one of the brutes before thee.

23 Sin embargo, yo siempre estoy contigo. Tú sostienes mi mano derecha.

Yet am I ever under thy care; By my right hand thou dost hold me up.

24 Me guiarás con tu consejo, Y después me recibirás en gloria.

Thou wilt guide me with thy counsel, And at last receive me in glory.

25 ¿A quién tengo yo en el cielo sino a Ti? Y fuera de Ti, nada deseo en la tierra.

Whom have I in heaven but thee, And whom on earth do I love in comparison with thee?

26 Mi cuerpo y mi corazón desfallecen, Pero ʼElohim es la Fuerza de mi corazón Y mi Porción para siempre.

Though my flesh and my heart fail, God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

27 Porque ciertamente los que se alejan de Ti perecerán. Tú destruyes a aquellos que son infieles a Ti.

For, lo! they who are far from thee perish; Thou destroyest all who estrange themselves from thee.

28 En cuanto a mí, la cercanía de ʼElohim es mi dicha. En ʼAdonay Yavé está mi refugio, Para que cuente todas tus obras.

But it is good for me to draw near to God; I put my trust in the Lord Jehovah, That I may declare all thy works.
