Salmos 38

1 Oh Yavé, no me reprendas con tu indignación, Ni me castigues con tu ardiente ira.

Yahweh, when you are angry [with me], do not rebuke/scold me and punish me!

2 Porque tus flechas se clavaron en mí, Y tu mano descendió sobre mí.

[Now it is as though] you have shot your arrows at me and wounded me; you have struck me and knocked me down.

3 Nada íntegro hay en mi cuerpo a causa de tu indignación, Ni hay paz en mis huesos a causa de mi pecado.

Because you have been angry with me, I am suffering great pain. Because of my sin, my whole body is diseased.

4 Porque mis iniquidades sobrepasan mi cabeza, Y como pesada carga se agravan sobre mí.

All my sins are [like a flood] that covers my head; they are like a load that is very heavy, with the result that I cannot carry it.

5 Mis heridas hieden y supuran por causa de mi locura.

Because I have done foolish things, I have sores that have become worse, and they stink.

6 Estoy encorvado y abatido en gran manera. Todo el día ando ensombrecido

[Sometimes] I am bent over, and [sometimes] I lie prostrate; I am sad/cry all day.

7 Porque mis órganos internos están llenos de ardor, Y nada sano hay en mi cuerpo.

My body is burning with fever, and I am very ill.

8 Estoy debilitado y molido en extremo. Gimo a causa de la perturbación de mi corazón.

I am completely exhausted, and I have no strength. I am very distressed, and I groan with pain.

9 ¡Oh ʼAdonay, ante Ti está todo mi deseo, Y mi suspiro no te es oculto!

Yahweh, you know that I desire [to be healed]; you hear me while I am groaning.

10 Mi corazón palpita, me falta el vigor, Y aun la luz de mis ojos me falta.

My heat is pounding heavily, and all my strength is gone. I am no longer able to see well.

11 Mis amigos y mis compañeros están lejos de mi herida. Mis allegados permanecen a distancia.

My friends and neighbors stay away from me because of my sores; even my own family stays away from me.

12 Los que buscan mi vida Me arman trampas. Los que procuran ofenderme Me amenazan con destrucción y traman fraudes todo el día.

And those who want to kill me set traps to catch me; those who want to harm me discuss ways to get rid of me; they plot against me all day.

13 Pero yo, como si fuera sordo no escucho, Y soy como un mudo, que no abre su boca.

Now I act like I’m deaf, and do not listen [to what they say]. I act like I cannot talk, so I say nothing [to reply to them].

14 Sí, soy como un hombre que no oye, Y en cuya boca no hay respuesta.

I act like a man who does not answer [when people talk to him], because he cannot hear anything.

15 Porque en Ti, oh Yavé, espero. Tú, ʼAdonay, mi ʼElohim, me responderás.

But Yahweh, I trust in you. My Lord God, you will answer me.

16 Porque dije: No se alegren de mí. No se engrandezcan contra mí cuando mi pie resbale,

I said to you, “Do not cause [me to die, with the result that] my enemies will rejoice! Do not cause me to stumble, with the result that they will be very happy!”

17 Porque estoy a punto de caer Y mi dolor está continuamente ante mí.

I say that because I am about to fall down, and I constantly have pain.

18 Por tanto, confieso mi iniquidad. Me contristé por mi pecado.

I confess the wrong things that I have done; I am [very] sorry for the sins that I have committed.

19 Pero mis enemigos son vigorosos y fuertes, Y se aumentaron los que me aborrecen sin causa.

My enemies are healthy and strong; there are many people who hate me for no reason.

20 Los que pagan mal por bien me son hostiles, Porque sigo lo bueno.

Those who do evil things to me in return for my doing good things to them oppose me because I try to do what is right.

21 ¡No me desampares, oh Yavé, mi ʼElohim! ¡No te alejes de mí!

Yahweh, do not abandon me! My God, do not stay far from me!

22 ¡Apresúrate a socorrerme, oh ʼAdonay, salvación mía!

Lord, you are the one who saves/rescues me; Quickly [come and] help me!
