Salmos 106
1 ¡Aleluya! Den gracias a Yavé, Porque Él es bueno, Porque para siempre es su misericordia.
Praise the Lord! Thank the Lord, for he is good! His trustworthy love lasts forever.
2 ¿Quién puede contar las proezas de Yavé? ¿Quién proclama toda su alabanza?
Who can give an account of all the wonderful things the Lord has done? Who can give him all the praise he is due?
3 ¡Dichosos los que guardan recto juicio, Los que practican justicia en todo tiempo!
Happy are those who treat people fairly, who always do what is right.
4 Acuérdate de mí, oh Yavé, Según tu buena voluntad para tu pueblo. Visítame con tu salvación,
Please remember me when you are generous to your people; think of me when you come to save.
5 Para que yo vea el bien de tus escogidos, Para que me regocije por la alegría de tu pueblo, Que me gloríe con tu heredad.
Let me see your chosen people prosperous; let me be happy together with your nation; let me share in being proud of you with those who belong to you.
6 Como nuestros antepasados pecamos. Cometimos iniquidad. Nos portamos perversamente.
We have sinned just like our forefathers. We have done wrong. We are guilty.
7 Nuestros antepasados no entendieron tus maravillas en Egipto. No recordaron tus numerosas bondades, Sino se rebelaron junto al mar, en el mar Rojo.
They didn't pay attention to the wonderful things you did. They didn't keep in mind how much you loved them, but chose to rebel at the sea, the Red Sea.
8 Pero Él los salvó por amor a su Nombre Para que fuera evidente su poder.
Even so he saved them because of the kind of person he is, and to show his power
9 Reprendió al mar Rojo Y lo secó, Y los condujo por las profundidades, Como por un desierto.
He gave his order to the Red Sea, and it dried up. He led his people across the seabed as if it were a desert.
10 Así los salvó de [la] mano del que [los] odiaba, Y los redimió de la mano del enemigo.
He rescued them from those who hated them; he saved them from their enemies' power.
11 Cubrieron las aguas a sus adversarios, No quedó ni uno de ellos.
The water drowned their enemies—none of them survived,
12 Entonces creyeron a sus Palabras, Y cantaron su alabanza.
Then his people trusted in what he promised, and sang his praises.
13 Muy pronto olvidaron sus obras. No esperaron su consejo.
But they quickly forgot what he had done for them, and they didn't listen to his advice.
14 Con avidez desearon comer en el desierto, Y en lugar despoblado tentaron a ʼElohim.
They were filled with desperate cravings in the wilderness; they provoked God in the desert.
15 Él les dio lo que pidieron, Pero envió mortandad sobre ellos.
He gave them what they wanted, but sent them a plague as well.
16 Tuvieron envidia de Moisés en el campamento, Y de Aarón, el consagrado a Yavé.
In the camp the people became jealous of Moses, and of Aaron, the Lord's holy priest.
17 Se abrió la tierra Y se tragó a Datán, Y cubrió al grupo de Abiram.
The earth split open and swallowed up Dathan; it buried Abiram and his followers.
18 Un fuego se encendió contra su grupo. La llama devoró a los perversos.
Fire broke out among them—a flame that burned them up.
19 Hicieron un becerro en Horeb. Se postraron ante una imagen de fundición.
At Mount Sinai they made a calf, they bowed down before a metal idol.
20 Así cambiaron la Gloria de ellos Por la imagen de un becerro que come hierba.
They replaced their God of glory with a bull that eats grass!
21 Olvidaron al ʼEL, su Salvador, Quien hizo grandes cosas en Egipto,
They forgot God, their Savior, who had done marvelous things in Egypt;
22 Maravillas en la tierra de Cam, Portentos en el mar Rojo.
performing miracles in the land of Ham, doing amazing things at the Red Sea.
23 Por tanto Él dijo que los destruiría. Si no fuera porque Moisés su escogido, Se puso en la brecha delante de Él Con la intención de que no los destruyera.
So he said he was going to destroy them But Moses, his chosen leader, placed himself between the Lord and the people to persuade the Lord not to destroy them in his anger.
24 Luego despreciaron [la] tierra deseable. No creyeron en la Palabra de Él,
Later the people refused to enter the Promised Land; they didn't trust him to do as he'd promised.
25 Sino murmuraron en sus tiendas. No escucharon la voz de Yavé.
They complained in their tents about the Lord, and refused to obey what he told them.
26 Por tanto les juró Que caerían en el desierto,
So he raised his hand to give them a serious warning that he would bring them down in the wilderness,
27 Que dispersaría su descendencia entre las naciones Y los esparciría por las tierras.
that he would disperse their descendants among the heathen nations, scattering them among countries far away.
28 Se unieron también a Baal-peor Y comieron lo sacrificado a los muertos.
They gave their allegiance to Baal Peor, and ate food sacrificed to the dead.
29 Así [lo] provocaron a ira con sus obras, Y una mortandad irrumpió entre ellos.
They provoked the Lord by what they did, making him angry, so a plague broke out among them.
30 Pero Finees se levantó e intervino, Y la mortandad se detuvo,
But Phinehas took a stand for the Lord and intervened, and the plague was stopped in its tracks.
31 Y le fue atribuido como justicia Por todas las generaciones para siempre.
He has been considered as a man who lived right from that time on and for all generations.
32 También [lo] provocaron a ira en las aguas de Meriba, Y salió mal Moisés por causa de ellos,
They also angered him at the waters of Meribah where things went badly for Moses because of them.
33 Porque hicieron rebelar su espíritu, Y él habló precipitadamente con sus labios.
They upset him so much that he spoke without thinking in the heat of the moment.
34 No destruyeron a los pueblos, Como Yavé les mandó,
They did not destroy the heathen peoples as the Lord had told them to do,
35 Sino se mezclaron con gentiles. Aprendieron sus prácticas,
but instead they joined in with them and adopted their way of life.
36 Y sirvieron a sus ídolos, Los cuales fueron una trampa.
They worshiped their pagan idols which became a trap for them.
37 Sacrificaron sus hijos y sus hijas a los demonios
The even sacrificed their sons and daughters to these demons.
38 Y derramaron sangre inocente, La sangre de sus hijos y de sus hijas, A quienes sacrificaron a los ídolos de Canaán, Y la tierra fue contaminada con la sangre.
They shed the blood of innocent children, their sons and daughters, sacrificing them to the idols of Canaan. By doing so they defiled the land with blood.
39 Así se contaminaron con las prácticas de ellos, Y se prostituyeron con sus hechos.
The also defiled themselves by what they did: their actions were spiritual adultery.
40 Por tanto la ira de Yavé se encendió contra su pueblo, Y Él repugnó su heredad.
So the Lord was angry with his people—he loathed those who belonged to him.
41 Los entregó en [la] mano de los gentiles, Y aquellos que los odiaban gobernaron sobre ellos.
He handed them over to the heathen nations. These people who hated them now became their rulers.
42 Sus enemigos también los oprimieron, Y fueron sometidos bajo su poder.
Their enemies dominated and subdued them with their power.
43 Muchas veces los libró, Pero ellos se rebelaron contra su consejo en su designio, Y así se hundieron en su iniquidad.
The Lord repeatedly rescued them, but they continued with their rebellious ideas, until they were finally destroyed by their own sins.
44 Sin embargo, Él miraba su angustia Y escuchaba su clamor.
Despite all this, the Lord was moved by their suffering; he heard their sad cries.
45 Recordaba su Pacto por amor a ellos, Y se compadecía según la grandeza de su misericordia.
He remembered the agreement he had made with them, and he held back because of his great kindness and love.
46 También promovió que fueran [objeto] de misericordia Por parte de todos los que los tenían cautivos.
He made the people who captured them treat them with mercy.
47 Oh Yavé, ʼElohim nuestro, sálvanos. Recógenos de entre las naciones, Para que demos gracias a tu santo Nombre Y nos gloriemos en tus alabanzas.
Save us, Lord, our God! Bring us back together from among the nations, so we can thank you and declare how magnificent and holy you are.
48 ¡Bendito sea Yavé, el ʼElohim de Israel, Desde la eternidad hasta la eternidad! Y todo el pueblo diga: ¡Amén! ¡Aleluya!
How wonderful is the Lord, the God of Israel, who lives forever and ever! Let all the people say “Amen”! Praise the Lord!
