Proverbios 8
1 ¿No clama la sabiduría, Y el entendimiento hace oír su voz?
Behold, wisdom calleth, and understanding sendeth forth her voice,
2 En las cimas de las alturas junto al camino, En las encrucijadas de los senderos, allí está ella.
On the top of high places, by the wayside, at the house where there are [many] paths doth she place herself.
3 Junto a las puertas, en la entrada de la ciudad, En el acceso a las puertas, ella da voces:
Alongside of gates, at the opening of the city, at the entrance of the town[-doors] doth she call loudly,
4 ¡Oh hombres, a ustedes clamo! Mi voz se dirige a los hijos de los hombres.
Unto you, O men, I call, and my voice [goeth forth] to the sons of men,
5 Oh simples, aprendan prudencia. Y ustedes, insensatos, dispongan su corazón.
Learn, O ye simple, to understand prudence: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.
6 Escuchen, porque diré cosas excelentes, Y abriré mis labios para cosas rectas.
Hear! for of noble things will I speak; and the opening of my lips shall be of what is equitable.
7 Mi boca pronunciará verdad. La maldad es repugnancia para mis labios.
For truth uttereth my palate ever, and the abomination of my lips is wickedness.
8 Todas las palabras de mi boca son con justicia. En ellas nada hay torcido o perverso.
In righteousness are all the sayings of my mouth, there is in them nothing crooked or perverse.
9 Son claras para el que entiende Y rectas para los que hallan el conocimiento.
They are all evident to the man of understanding, and correct to those that have obtained knowledge.
10 Reciban mi enseñanza y no plata, Conocimiento, mejor que oro fino.
Accept my correction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.
11 Pues mejor es la sabiduría que las perlas. Nada de lo que desees podrá compararse con ella.
For wisdom is better than pearls; and all the things that men wish for are not equal to her.
12 Yo, la sabiduría, moro con la prudencia, Y descubro el conocimiento y la discreción.
I wisdom dwell with prudence, and the knowledge of discreet thoughts do I discover.
13 El temor a Yavé es aborrecer el mal. Aborrezco la soberbia, la arrogancia, el mal camino y la boca perversa.
The fear of the Lord is to hate evil, pride and arrogance, and the evil way: and the mouth of perverseness do I hate.
14 Mío es el consejo y la eficiente sabiduría. Mía es la inteligencia y mía la valentía.
Mine are counsel and sound wisdom: I am understanding; mine is might.
15 Por mí reinan los reyes, Y los magistrados administran justicia.
Through me do kings reign, and chieftains give decrees [in] righteousness.
16 Por mí gobiernan los príncipes Y los nobles que juzgan la tierra.
Through me do princes rule, and the nobles, even all the judges of the earth.
17 Yo amo a los que me aman. Me hallan los que temprano me buscan.
I indeed love those that love me: and those that seek me earnestly shall find me.
18 Las riquezas y la honra están conmigo, Riquezas y justicia perdurables.
Riches and honor are with me, yea, enduring wealth and righteousness.
19 Mi fruto es mejor que el oro, Aun que el oro puro, Y mi ganancia mejor que la plata escogida.
My fruit is better than gold, and than fine gold; and my products, than choice silver.
20 Yo ando por camino de justicia, Por los senderos de equidad,
On the road of righteousness do I walk firmly, in the midst the paths of justice:
21 Para hacer que los que me aman obtengan su heredad. Y para que yo llene sus tesoros.
That I may cause those that love me to inherit a lasting possession; and their treasures will I fill
22 Yavé me poseía en el principio, Ya de antiguo, antes de sus obras.
The Lord created me as the beginning of his way, the first of his works from the commencement,
23 Eternamente estaba establecida, Antes de haber tierra.
From eternity was I appointed chief, from the beginning, from the earliest times of the earth.
24 Nací antes que existieran los océanos, Antes que existieran las fuentes de muchas aguas.
When there were yet no depths, was I brought forth; when there were yet no springs laden heavily with water.
25 Antes que las montañas fueran fundadas, Antes de las colinas, fui yo engendrada.
Before the mountains were yet sunk down, before the hills was I brought forth:
26 Cuando Él no había hecho la tierra, ni los campos, Ni el primer polvo del mundo.
While as yet he had not made the land and open fields, nor the chief of the dust of the world.
27 Cuando estableció los cielos, allí estaba yo. Cuando trazó el horizonte sobre la superficie del océano,
When he prepared the heavens, I was there; when he drew a circle over the face of the deep;
28 Cuando afirmó los cielos arriba, Cuando afirmó las fuentes del océano,
When he fastened the skies above; when the springs of the deep became strong;
29 Cuando señaló al mar su estatuto, Para que las aguas no traspasaran su mandato, Cuando estableció los fundamentos de la tierra,
When he assigned to the sea his decree, that the waters should not transgress his order: when he established firmly the foundations of the earth:
30 Yo estaba junto a Él como arquitecto. Diariamente era su deleite. Me regocijaba ante Él siempre.
Then was I near him, as a nursling: and I was day by day [his] delights, playing before him at all times;
31 Me regocijaba en su tierra habitada, Y tenía mi deleite con los hijos de los hombres.
Playing in the world, his earth; and having my delights with the sons of men.
32 Ahora pues, hijos, escúchenme. Inmensamente felices los que guardan mis caminos.
And now, O children [of men], hearken unto me! for happy those that observe my ways.
33 Atiendan la instrucción, sean sabios Y no la menosprecien.
Hear correction, and be wise, and reject it not.
34 ¡Inmensamente feliz es el hombre que me escucha, Que vigila en mis portones cada día, Que espera en el umbral de mis entradas!
Happy is the man that hearkeneth unto me, watching day by day at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.
35 Porque el que me halla, Halla la vida y alcanza el favor de Yavé.
For he who findeth me findeth life, and he obtaineth favor from the Lord.
36 Pero el que peca contra mí, defrauda su propia alma. Todos los que me aborrecen aman la muerte.
But he that sinneth against me doth violence to his own soul: all those that hate me love death.
