Proverbios 5
1 Hijo mío, atiende a mi sabiduría, E inclina tu oído a mi entendimiento,
My son, attend unto my wisdom; incline thine ear to my understanding:
2 Para que guardes discreción Y tus labios conserven conocimiento.
That thou mayest preserve discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.
3 Porque los labios de la mujer inmoral destilan miel, Y su paladar es más suave que el aceite.
For the lips of a strange woman drop honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil:
4 Pero su propósito es amargo como el ajenjo Y agudo como espada de dos filos.
But her latter end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on Sheol; (Sheol h7585)
6 No considera el camino de la vida. Sus sendas son inestables, pero ella no lo sabe.
So that she findeth not the level path of life: her ways are unstable [and] she knoweth [it] not.
7 Ahora, pues, hijos, escúchenme. No se aparten de las palabras de mi boca:
Now therefore, [my] sons, hearken unto me, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
8 Aleja de ella tu camino. No te acerques a la puerta de su casa
Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
9 No sea que des a otros tu vigor, Y tus años al cruel.
Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:
10 No sea que los extraños se llenen de tus fuerzas, Y tu esfuerzo se quede en casa ajena.
Lest strangers be filled with thy strength; and thy labours [be] in the house of an alien;
11 Gemirás cuando te llegue el desenlace, Y se consuma la carne de tu cuerpo.
And thou mourn at thy latter end, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,
12 Entonces dirás: ¡Cómo aborrecí la corrección, Y mi corazón menospreció la reprensión!
And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
13 ¡No hice caso a la voz de mis maestros, Ni presté oído a mis instructores!
Neither have I obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!
14 Casi en la cima de todo mal estuve En medio de la asamblea y de la congregación.
I was well nigh in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
15 Bebe el agua de tu propia cisterna, Y el agua fresca de tu propio pozo.
Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.
16 ¿Se derramarán afuera tus manantiales, Tus corrientes de aguas por las plazas?
Should thy springs be dispersed abroad, and rivers of water in the streets?
17 ¡Sean solamente tuyos, Y no de extraños contigo!
Let them be for thyself alone, and not for strangers with thee.
18 Sea bendito tu manantial Y regocíjate con la esposa de tu juventud,
Let thy fountain be blessed; and rejoice in the wife of thy youth.
19 Como hermosa venada o graciosa gacela, Sus pechos te satisfagan en todo tiempo, Y recréate siempre con su amor.
[As] a loving hind and a pleasant doe, let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.
20 ¿Por qué, hijo mío, estarás apasionado con mujer ajena, Y abrazarás el seno de una extraña?
For why shouldest thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?
21 Porque los caminos del hombre están ante los ojos de Yavé. Él observa todas sus sendas.
For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he maketh level all his paths.
22 En su propia iniquidad quedará atrapado el inicuo. Será atado con las cuerdas de su propio pecado.
His own iniquities shall take the wicked, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sin.
23 Morirá por falta de corrección, Extraviado en la inmensidad de su locura.
He shall die for lack of instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.
