Proverbios 24
1 No envidies a los perversos, Ni desees estar con ellos.
Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.
2 Porque su corazón trama violencia, Y sus labios hablan gran injusticia.
For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.
3 Con la sabiduría se edifica una casa, Con la prudencia se afirma,
Through wisdom is a house built; and by understanding it is established:
4 Con el conocimiento se llenan sus cuartos De todo bien preciado y agradable.
And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
5 Mejor es el varón sabio que el fuerte. El hombre de conocimiento aumenta su poder.
A wise man [is] strong; and a man of knowledge increaseth strength.
6 Porque con estrategia harás tu guerra, Y en la multitud de consejeros está la victoria.
For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counselors [there is] safety.
7 La sabiduría está demasiado alta para el necio. En la puerta no abrirá su boca.
Wisdom [is] too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.
8 Al que trama el mal Lo llamarán hombre de malas intenciones.
He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.
9 La intención del insensato es pecado, El burlador es detestado por los hombres.
The thought of foolishness [is] sin: and the scorner [is] an abomination to men.
10 Si flaqueas en el día de la adversidad, También tu fuerza se reducirá.
[If] thou faintest in the day of adversity, thy strength [is] small.
11 ¡Libra a los que son llevados a la muerte! ¡Rescata a los que se tambalean hacia a la matanza!
If thou forbearest to deliver [them that are] drawn to death, and [those that are] ready to be slain;
12 Si dices: En verdad, no lo supimos. El que pesa los corazones, ¿no lo sabrá? ¿No lo sabrá el que vigila tu vida, Y paga al hombre según sus obras?
If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider [it]? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth [not] he know [it]? and will [not] he render to [every] man according to his works?
13 Come miel, hijo mío, pues es buena. Sí, el panal es dulce a tu paladar.
My son, eat thou honey, because [it is] good; and the honey-comb, [which is] sweet to thy taste:
14 Así aprópiate de la sabiduría para tu vida. Si la hallas, habrá un porvenir, Y tu esperanza no será frustrada.
So [shall] the knowledge of wisdom [be] to thy soul: when thou hast found [it], then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.
15 Oh impío, no aceches la tienda del justo Ni saquees su lugar de reposo,
Lay not wait, O wicked [man], against the dwelling of the righteous; destroy not his resting-place:
16 Porque siete veces cae el justo y se vuelve a levantar, Pero los impíos tropiezan en la calamidad.
For a just [man] falleth seven times, and riseth again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
17 Si tu enemigo cae, no te alegres, Y si tropieza, no se regocije tu corazón,
Rejoice not when thy enemy falleth, and let not thy heart be glad when he stumbleth:
18 No sea que Yavé lo vea y le desagrade, Y aparte de sobre él su enojo.
Lest the LORD see [it], and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
19 No te impacientes a causa de los malhechores, Ni tengas envidia de los pecadores,
Fret not thyself because of evil [men], neither be thou envious at the wicked;
20 Porque para el perverso no habrá buen fin, Y la lámpara de los impíos será apagada.
For there shall be no reward to the evil [man]; the candle of the wicked shall be extinguished.
21 Hijo mío: Teme a Yavé y también al rey. No te asocies con los sediciosos,
My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: [and] meddle not with them that are given to change:
22 Porque su calamidad viene de repente, Y la ruina que viene de ambos, ¿quién la conocerá?
For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?
23 También estos son dichos de los sabios: No es bueno hacer acepción de personas en el juicio.
These [things] also [belong] to the wise. [It is] not good to have respect of persons in judgment.
24 El que dice al impío: Eres justo, Lo maldecirán los pueblos, Y lo detestarán las naciones.
He that saith to the wicked, Thou [art] righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him:
25 Pero los que lo reprenden serán apreciados, Y una gran bendición vendrá sobre ellos.
But to them that rebuke [him] shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.
26 Besados serán los labios Del que responde palabras rectas.
[Every man] shall kiss [his] lips that giveth a right answer.
27 Prepara tus labores de afuera, Y disponlas en tus campos, Y después edifica tu casa.
Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thy house.
28 No testifiques sin causa contra tu prójimo, Ni engañes con tus labios.
Be not a witness against thy neighbor without cause; and deceive [not] with thy lips.
29 No digas: Le haré como él me hizo, Le retribuiré conforme a su obra.
Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.
30 Pasé junto al campo de un hombre perezoso, Por la viña de un hombre falto de entendimiento,
I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
31 Y ahí todo estaba cubierto de espinas. Su superficie estaba cubierta de ortigas, Y su muro de piedra, derribado.
And lo, it was all grown over with thorns, [and] nettles had covered the face of it, and its stone wall was broken down.
32 Observé esto y reflexioné. Lo vi y aprendí la lección:
Then I saw, [and] considered [it] well: I looked upon [it], [and] received instruction.
33 Un poco de sueño, un poco de dormitar, Un poco de cruzar las manos para descansar,
[Yet] a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
34 Así vendrá tu miseria como un vagabundo, Y tu escasez como un hombre armado.
So shall thy poverty come [as] one that traveleth; and thy want as an armed man.
