Proverbios 21
1 Como los repartimientos de las aguas, Así el corazón del rey está en la mano de Yavé. A todo lo que quiere lo inclina.
THE king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
2 Todo camino del hombre es recto en su propia opinión, Pero Yavé pesa los corazones.
Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts.
3 Yavé prefiere el derecho y la justicia en vez de los sacrificios.
To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.
4 Ojos altivos, corazón arrogante, Y la lámpara de los perversos son pecado.
An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.
5 Los planes del diligente solo traen ganancia, Los del precipitado, solo indigencia.
The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.
6 Acumular tesoros con boca mentirosa Es vanidad ilusoria y trampa de muerte.
The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.
7 La violencia de los impíos los arrastrará, Por cuanto se niegan a obrar con justicia.
The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.
8 La senda del vicioso es torcida y extraña, Las acciones del puro son rectas.
The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.
9 Más vale vivir en rincón de azotea, Que en casa espaciosa con mujer rencillosa.
It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.
10 Afán del perverso es desear el mal, Su prójimo nunca halla favor ante sus ojos.
The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.
11 Cuando el burlador es castigado, el simple se hace prudente, Y cuando el sabio es instruido, adquiere conocimiento.
When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
12 El justo considera la casa del impío, Y precipita al impío a la ruina.
The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.
13 El que cierra sus oídos al clamor del pobre No será escuchado cuando grite.
Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.
14 Un regalo en secreto aplaca la ira, Y un soborno bajo el manto, el gran furor.
A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.
15 Alegría para el justo es que se haga justicia, Pero terror para los que practican iniquidad.
It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.
16 Hombre que se extravía del camino de la sabiduría Va a parar a la asamblea de los difuntos.
The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
17 El que ama el deleite será un hombre pobre, Quien ama el vino y los ungüentos no enriquecerá.
He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
18 El impío está en lugar del justo y El que pervierte ocupa el puesto de los rectos.
The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.
19 Más vale habitar en tierra desierta, Que con mujer rencillosa e iracunda.
It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.
20 Preciosos tesoros y aceite hay en la casa del sabio, Pero el hombre insensato los dilapida.
There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.
21 El que va tras la justicia y la misericordia Halla vida, prosperidad y honra.
He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.
22 El sabio conquista la ciudad de los poderosos, Y humilla la fortaleza en la que ella confía.
A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.
23 El que guarda su boca y su lengua Guarda su alma de penurias.
Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
24 El soberbio presuntuoso tiene por nombre insolente, Y obra con saña y furor.
Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.
25 Los deseos del perezoso lo matan, Pues sus manos no quieren trabajar.
The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.
26 Todo el día desea y desea más, Pero el justo da y no escatima.
He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
27 Los sacrificios del perverso son repugnancia, ¡Cuánto más cuando los ofrece con malicia!
The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?
28 El testigo falso perecerá, Pero el que atiende, habla perpetuamente.
A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.
29 El perverso se presenta desafiante, Pero el recto examina su camino.
A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way.
30 No hay habilidad, ni inteligencia, Ni consejo frente a Yavé.
There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the Lord.
31 El caballo es preparado para el día de la batalla, Pero la victoria es de Yavé.
The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the Lord.
