Proverbios 14
1 La mujer sabia edifica su casa, La necia con sus manos la derriba.
The wise woman buildeth her house; But the foolish teareth it down with her hands.
2 El que anda en su rectitud teme a Yavé, Pero el de caminos torcidos lo desprecia.
He who walketh in uprightness feareth the LORD; But he who is perverse in his ways despiseth him.
3 En la boca del necio hay una vara para su espalda, Pero los sabios son protegidos por sus labios.
In the mouth of the foolish pride is a scourge; But the lips of the wise preserve them.
4 Donde no hay bueyes el establo está limpio, Pero mucho rendimiento hay por la fuerza del buey.
Where there are no oxen, the crib is clean; But there is great increase by the strength of the ox.
5 El testigo veraz no miente, Pero el testigo falso respira mentiras.
A faithful witness doth not lie; But a false witness poureth forth lies.
6 El burlador busca la sabiduría y no la halla, Pero el conocimiento es fácil para el que tiene entendimiento.
The scoffer seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not; But knowledge is easy to the man of understanding.
7 Apártate de la presencia del necio, Porque en él no hallarás palabras de conocimiento.
Go from the presence of a foolish man; For thou hast not perceived in him the lips of knowledge.
8 Entender el camino es sabiduría del sagaz, Pero la necedad de los necios es engaño.
The wisdom of the prudent is in giving heed to his way; But the folly of fools is deceit.
9 Se burla el necio del pecado, Pero entre los rectos hay buena voluntad.
Fools make a mock at sin; But with the upright is favor.
10 El corazón conoce su propia amargura, Y en su alegría no participa el extraño.
The heart knoweth its own bitterness. And a stranger cannot intermeddle with its joy.
11 La casa de los perversos será asolada, Pero la morada de los rectos florecerá.
The house of the wicked shall be destroyed; But the tent of the upright shall flourish.
12 Hay camino que al hombre parece derecho, Pero su fin es camino de muerte.
There is a way which seemeth right to a man, But its end is the way to death.
13 Aun entre risas llora el corazón, Y el final de la alegría es tristeza.
Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful, And the end of joy is grief.
14 El insensato se hartará de sus propios caminos, Pero el hombre bueno estará satisfecho con el suyo.
The perverse in heart shall be filled with his own ways; And from himself shall the good man be satisfied.
15 El ingenuo cree cualquier cosa, Pero el prudente considera sus pasos.
The simple man believeth every word; But the prudent looketh well to his steps.
16 El sabio teme y se aparta del mal, Pero el necio se lanza confiado.
The wise man feareth, and departeth from evil; But the fool is haughty and confident.
17 El que fácilmente se aíra hará locuras, Y el hombre perverso será aborrecido.
He who is hasty in his anger will commit folly; And the man of wicked devices will be hated.
18 Los ingenuos heredan insensatez, Pero el prudente se corona de conocimiento.
The simple inherit folly; But the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
19 Los perversos se inclinarán ante los buenos, Y los perversos ante las puertas del justo.
The evil bow before the good; Yea, the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
20 El pobre es odiado aun por su vecino, Pero muchos son los que aman al rico.
The poor is hated even by his own neighbor; But the rich hath many friends.
21 El que menosprecia a su prójimo peca, Pero el que se compadece de los pobres es inmensamente feliz.
He who despiseth his neighbor sinneth; But happy is he who hath mercy on the poor.
22 ¿No yerran los que piensan mal? Pero misericordia y verdad son para los que piensan el bien.
Do not they who devise evil fail of their end? But they who devise good meet with kindness and truth.
23 En toda labor hay fruto, Pero la palabra solo de labios lleva a la indigencia.
In all labor there is profit; But the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.
24 Corona de los sabios es su riqueza, Pero la insensatez de los necios es locura.
Riches are a crown to the wise; But the promotion of fools is folly.
25 Un testigo veraz salva vidas, Pero el engañador habla mentiras.
A true witness saveth lives; But a deceitful witness poureth forth lies.
26 En el temor a Yavé hay fuerte confianza Que servirá de refugio a los hijos.
In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence; Yea, to his children he will be a refuge.
27 El temor a Yavé es manantial de vida, Que aparta de las trampas de la muerte.
The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life; By it men escape from the snares of death.
28 En la multitud de pueblo está la gloria del rey, Y en la falta de pueblo la flaqueza del gobernante.
In a numerous people is the glory of a king; But the want of people is the destruction of a prince.
29 El que tarda en airarse tiene gran entendimiento, Pero el impulsivo exalta la necedad.
He who is slow to anger is of great understanding. But he who is of a hasty spirit setteth folly on high.
30 Un corazón tranquilo es vida para el cuerpo, Pero la envidia es carcoma en los huesos.
A quiet heart is the life of the flesh; But the ferment of passion is rottenness to the bones.
31 El que oprime al pobre afrenta a su Hacedor, Pero lo honra el que favorece al necesitado.
He who oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker; But he who hath mercy on the poor honoreth him.
32 Por su propia maldad será derribado el perverso, Pero el justo tiene refugio en su muerte.
By his wickedness the wicked is thrust down; But the righteous hath hope even in death.
33 En el corazón del que tiene entendimiento reposa la sabiduría, Aun en medio de necios se da a conocer.
Wisdom resteth quietly in the heart of the wise; But in the breast of fools it will be made known.
34 La justicia enaltece a una nación, Pero el pecado es afrenta para los pueblos.
Righteousness exalteth a people; But the reproach of nations is sin.
35 La benevolencia del rey es para el esclavo prudente, Pero su enojo contra el que lo avergüenza.
The king's favor is toward a wise servant; But his wrath is against him that causeth shame.
