Proverbios 13
1 El hijo sabio acepta la disciplina de su padre, Pero el burlador no escucha la corrección.
A wise son [heareth] his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.
2 Del fruto de su boca el hombre comerá el bien, Pero el alma de los traidores se nutre de violencia.
A man shall eat good by the fruit of [his] mouth: but the soul of the transgressors [shall eat] violence.
3 El que guarda su boca preserva su vida, Pero al que mucho abre sus labios le vendrá ruina.
He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: [but] he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
4 El alma del perezoso desea, y nada alcanza, Pero el alma del diligente será prosperada.
The soul of the sluggard desireth, and [hath] nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
5 El justo aborrece la palabra de mentira, Pero el perverso es odioso y trae deshonra.
A righteous [man] hateth lying: but a wicked [man] is lothsome, and cometh to shame.
6 La justicia guarda al de perfecto camino, Pero la perversidad arruina al pecador.
Righteousness keepeth [him that is] upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.
7 Hay quienes se enriquecen, y nada tienen, Y hay quienes son pobres, y tienen grandes riquezas.
There is that maketh himself rich, yet [hath] nothing: [there is] that maketh himself poor, yet [hath] great riches.
8 El rescate de la vida del hombre puede ser su riqueza, Pero el pobre no escucha censuras.
The ransom of a man's life [is] his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.
9 La luz de los justos brilla de alegría, Pero la lámpara de los impíos se apagará.
The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be extinguished.
10 Con la soberbia solo se provoca contienda, Pero con los que admiten consejo está la sabiduría.
Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well-advised [is] wisdom.
11 Riqueza sin esfuerzo se desvanece, Pero el que recoge con mano laboriosa la aumenta.
Wealth [gotten] by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labor shall increase.
12 La esperanza que tarda es tormento del corazón, Pero árbol de vida es el deseo cumplido.
Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but [when] the desire cometh, [it is] a tree of life.
13 El que menosprecia la palabra será destruido, Pero el que teme el mandamiento será recompensado.
Whoever despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.
14 La enseñanza del sabio es manantial de vida, Que aparta de las trampas de la muerte.
The law of the wise [is] a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
15 El buen entendimiento produce gracia, Pero el camino de los traidores es duro.
Good understanding giveth favor: but the way of transgressors [is] hard.
16 El sagaz actúa con conocimiento, Pero el necio despliega su insensatez.
Every prudent [man] dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open [his] folly.
17 El mensajero perverso caerá en desgracia, Pero el enviado fiel es medicina.
A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful embassador [is] health.
18 Miseria y oprobio para el que rechaza la corrección, Pero el que acepta la reprensión será honrado.
Poverty and shame [shall be to] him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honored.
19 El deseo cumplido deleita el alma, Apartarse del mal es repugnancia a los necios.
The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but [it is] abomination to fools to depart from evil.
20 El que anda con sabios será sabio, Pero el que se reúne con los necios sufrirá daño.
He that walketh with wise [men] shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
21 La adversidad persigue a los pecadores, Para los justos abunda el bien.
Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repaid.
22 La herencia del bueno queda en su familia, Pero la riqueza del pecador está reservada para el justo.
A good [man] leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner [is] laid up for the just.
23 El barbecho de los pobres abunda en alimento, Pero es arrasado por falta de justicia.
Much food [is in] the tillage of the poor: but there is [that is] destroyed for want of judgment.
24 El que detiene el castigo aborrece a su hijo, El que lo ama prontamente lo disciplina.
He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
25 El justo come y sacia su apetito, Pero el estómago de los perversos padece escasez.
The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want.
