Números 9
1 El mes primero del año segundo de su salida de la tierra de Egipto, Yavé habló a Moisés en el desierto de Sinaí:
One year after the Israelis left Egypt, during the month of March, while they were in the Sinai Desert, Yahweh said to Moses/me,
2 Los hijos de Israel celebrarán la Pascua en su tiempo señalado.
“Tell the Israeli people that they must celebrate the Passover [Festival again].
3 El día 14 de este mes, entre las dos noches, la celebrarán en su tiempo señalado. La celebrarán conforme a todos sus Estatutos y Ordenanzas.
They must do it on the fourteenth day of this month, early in the evening, and they must obey all the instructions about it [that I gave you previously].”
4 Moisés habló a los hijos de Israel para que celebraran la Pascua,
So Moses/I told the people what Yahweh had said about celebrating the Passover.
5 y el mes primero, a los 14 días del mes, entre las dos noches, celebraron la Pascua en el desierto de Sinaí. Como Yavé ordenó a Moisés, así hicieron los hijos de Israel.
The people celebrated it, there in the Sinai Desert, in the evening of the fourteenth day of the month, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses/me.
6 Sin embargo, hubo algunos varones que se contaminaron por causa de una persona muerta, y no pudieron celebrar la Pascua aquel día. Acudieron a Moisés y Aarón en aquel día, y
But some of the Israeli people had touched a corpse, and as a result they had become unfit to celebrate the Passover. So they asked Aaron and Moses/me,
7 les dijeron: Nosotros estamos impuros a causa de un muerto. ¿Por qué se nos impide ofrecer sacrificio a Yavé con los demás hijos de Israel en el tiempo señalado?
“It is true that we have touched a corpse. But why should that prevent us from celebrating the Passover Festival and offering sacrifices to Yahweh like everyone else [RHQ]?”
8 Moisés les respondió: Esperen hasta que yo oiga lo que Yavé ordene con respecto a ustedes.
Moses/I replied, “Wait here until I go into the Sacred Tent and find out what Yahweh says about it.”
9 Yavé habló a Moisés:
[So Moses/I went into the tent and asked Yahweh what he/I should tell the people], and this is what Yahweh said:
10 Habla a los hijos de Israel: Cualquier hombre de ustedes o de sus descendientes que esté impuro por causa de una persona muerta, o que esté lejos de viaje, podrá celebrar la Pascua para Yavé.
“Tell this to the Israeli people: If any of you or your descendants touch a corpse and as a result become unacceptable to me, or if you are away from home on a long trip [at the time to celebrate the Passover], you will still be permitted to celebrate it.
11 La celebrará el mes segundo, el día 14 del mes al llegar la noche, y la comerá con panes sin levadura y hierbas amargas.
But you must celebrate it exactly one month later, early in the evening of the fourteenth day of that month. Eat the meat of the lamb for the Passover Festival with bread that is baked without yeast and eat bitter herbs.
12 No dejarán nada del cordero pascual para la mañana siguiente, ni le quebrarán algún hueso. La celebrarán conforme a todo el estatuto de la Pascua.
Do not leave any of it until the next morning. And do not break any of the lamb’s bones. Obey all the regulations about celebrating the Passover.
13 Pero el hombre que esté puro, y no esté de viaje, si deja de celebrar la Pascua, esa persona será cortada de su pueblo. Por cuanto no ofreció el sacrificio para Yavé en el tiempo señalado, ese hombre llevará su pecado.
But if any of you has not done anything that would make you unfit to celebrate the Passover Festival, and you are not away from home on a long trip, and you do not sacrifice to me at the proper time, you will no longer be allowed to associate with my people. (You will be punished/I will punish you).
14 Si un extranjero vive con ustedes y desea celebrar la Pascua para Yavé, lo hará conforme al estatuto de la Pascua y conforme a su ordenanza. Un solo estatuto habrá para ustedes, tanto para el extranjero como para el nativo de la tierra.
Foreigners who live among you may also celebrate the Passover Festival, if they obey all my commands concerning it.”
15 El día cuando fue erigido el Tabernáculo, la nube cubrió el Tabernáculo del Testimonio. Desde la llegada de la noche hasta la mañana hubo una apariencia como de fuego sobre el Tabernáculo.
On the day that the Sacred Tent was set up, a cloud covered it. From the time that the sun set until the time that the sun rose [the next day], the cloud resembled a [huge] fire. And that is what happened every day [that we/the Israelis were in the desert].
16 Así sucedía continuamente: la nube lo cubría de día y una apariencia como de fuego estaba de noche.
17 Cuando la nube se alzaba del Tabernáculo, los hijos de Israel salían, y en el lugar donde la nube se detenía, allí acampaban los hijos de Israel.
When the cloud rose up and started to move [to a new location], we/they followed it. When the cloud stopped, we/the Israelis stopped there and set up their tents.
18 Al mandato de Yavé salían los hijos de Israel, y al mandato de Yavé acampaban. Mientras la nube permanecía sobre el Tabernáculo, ellos permanecían en el campamento.
We/They traveled when Yahweh, [by causing the cloud to move or stop], signaled to us/them when to move and when to stop. When the cloud stayed over the Sacred Tent, we/the Israelis stayed at that place.
19 Cuando la nube se detenía sobre el Tabernáculo muchos días, los hijos de Israel guardaban la ordenanza de Yavé, y no salían.
Sometimes the cloud stayed over the tent for a long time, so when that happened, we/they did not travel.
20 Otras veces la nube permanecía sobre el Tabernáculo cierto número de días. Acampaban y salían según el mandato de Yavé.
Sometimes the cloud remained over the tent for only a few days. We/The people stopped and set up our/their tents as Yahweh commanded us/them, and we/they traveled [to a new location] when Yahweh commanded us/them to do that.
21 A veces la nube permanecía desde la llegada de la noche hasta la mañana. Cuando la nube se levantaba por la mañana, ellos se movían. [Si permanecía] durante el día y la noche, cuando la nube se levantaba, ellos salían.
Sometimes the cloud stayed in one place for only one day. When that happened, when the cloud rose up [into the sky] the next morning, then we/they traveled. Whenever the cloud moved, during the day or during the night, we/they traveled.
22 O si la nube permanecía sobre el Tabernáculo dos días, un mes o un año, los hijos de Israel permanecían acampados y no se movían. Pero cuando ella se levantaba, ellos salían.
If the cloud stayed over the Sacred Tent for two days, or for a month, or for a year, during that time we/they stayed where we/they were. But when the cloud rose up [into the sky], we/they started to travel.
23 Por orden de Yavé acampaban, y por su orden salían. Así guardaban la ordenanza de Yavé según el mandato de Yavé dado por medio de Moisés.
When Yahweh commanded us/them to [stop and] set up our/their tents, we/they did that. When he told us/them to move, we/they moved. We/They did whatever Yahweh told Moses/me that we/they should do.
