Números 35

1 Yavé habló a Moisés frente a Jericó en las llanuras de Moab, junto al Jordán:

And the LORD spake unto Moses in the plains of Moab by Jordan [near] Jericho, saying,

2 Ordena a los hijos de Israel que de su herencia en propiedad, den a los levitas ciudades en las cuales puedan vivir, y las tierras de pastos de las ciudades en torno a ellas.

Command the children of Israel, that they give unto the Levites of the inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in; and ye shall give [also] unto the Levites suburbs for the cities round about them.

3 Las ciudades les servirán de morada y las tierras de pastos serán para su ganado, sus animales domésticos y todas sus bestias.

And the cities shall they have to dwell in; and the suburbs of them shall be for their cattle, and for their goods, and for all their beasts.

4 Las tierras de pastos de las ciudades que darán a los levitas desde el muro de la ciudad hacia fuera, serán de 450 metros alrededor.

And the suburbs of the cities, which ye shall give unto the Levites, [shall reach] from the wall of the city and outward a thousand cubits round about.

5 Medirán 900 metros fuera de la ciudad por el límite oriental, por el límite sur, por el límite occidental y por la parte norte. La ciudad quedará en el centro. Esto será de ellos como tierras de pastos para las ciudades.

And ye shall measure from without the city on the east side two thousand cubits, and on the south side two thousand cubits, and on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits; and the city [shall be] in the midst: this shall be to them the suburbs of the cities.

6 De las ciudades que den a los levitas, seis ciudades serán de refugio, las cuales darán para que se refugie allá el homicida. Además de ellas, les darán 42 ciudades.

And among the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites [there shall be] six cities for refuge, which ye shall appoint for the manslayer, that he may flee thither: and to them ye shall add forty and two cities.

7 Darán 48 ciudades con sus tierras de pastos a los levitas.

[So] all the cities which ye shall give to the Levites [shall be] forty and eight cities: them [shall ye give] with their suburbs.

8 En cuanto a las ciudades que les darán de la posesión de los hijos de Israel [a los levitas], tomarán más [ciudades] de [la tribu] que tenga más, y menos de la que tenga menos. Cada uno cederá de sus ciudades a los levitas en proporción a la propiedad que heredó.

And the cities which ye shall give [shall be] of the possession of the children of Israel: from [them that have] many ye shall give many; but from [them that have] few ye shall give few: every one shall give of his cities unto the Levites according to his inheritance which he inheriteth.

9 Luego Yavé habló a Moisés:

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

10 Habla a los hijos de Israel: Cuando pasen el Jordán hacia la tierra de Canaán,

Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come over Jordan into the land of Canaan;

11 escogerán ciudades que servirán de asilo para ustedes, adonde el homicida que mate a alguno sin intención pueda refugiarse.

Then ye shall appoint you cities to be cities of refuge for you; that the slayer may flee thither, which killeth any person at unawares.

12 Tales ciudades les servirán de refugio frente al vengador, y así el homicida no morirá antes de presentarse a juicio ante la asamblea.

And they shall be unto you cities for refuge from the avenger; that the manslayer die not, until he stand before the congregation in judgment.

13 Así, pues, de las ciudades que darán, tendrán seis ciudades de refugio.

And of these cities which ye shall give six cities shall ye have for refuge.

14 Establecerán tres ciudades de refugio a este lado del Jordán y otras tres ciudades en la tierra de Canaán.

Ye shall give three cities on this side Jordan, and three cities shall ye give in the land of Canaan, [which] shall be cities of refuge.

15 Estas seis ciudades serán para refugio a los hijos de Israel, al extranjero y al que resida entre ustedes, para que se refugie allí todo el que mate a otro sin intención.

These six cities shall be a refuge, [both] for the children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for the sojourner among them: that every one that killeth any person unawares may flee thither.

16 Pero si lo golpea con instrumento de hierro y muere, es homicida y morirá.

And if he smite him with an instrument of iron, so that he die, he [is] a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

17 Si lo golpea con una piedra en la mano, con la cual pueda matar, y muere, es homicida. El homicida morirá.

And if he smite him with throwing a stone, wherewith he may die, and he die, he [is] a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

18 Si lo golpea con un instrumento de madera en la mano, que pueda matar, y muere, es homicida y morirá.

Or [if] he smite him with an hand weapon of wood, wherewith he may die, and he die, he [is] a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

19 El vengador de la sangre, él mismo matará al homicida. En el momento cuando lo encuentre, lo matará.

The revenger of blood himself shall slay the murderer: when he meeteth him, he shall slay him.

20 Si por odio lo empuja, o lanza algo contra él deliberadamente, y muere,

But if he thrust him of hatred, or hurl at him by laying of wait, that he die;

21 o si por enemistad lo golpea con la mano y muere, el agresor morirá. Es homicida. El vengador de la sangre matará al asesino cuando lo encuentre.

Or in enmity smite him with his hand, that he die: he that smote [him] shall surely be put to death; [for] he [is] a murderer: the revenger of blood shall slay the murderer, when he meeteth him.

22 Pero si casualmente, sin enemistad, lo empuja o lanza sobre él cualquier objeto sin premeditación,

But if he thrust him suddenly without enmity, or have cast upon him any thing without laying of wait,

23 o sin verlo hace caer sobre él alguna piedra que lo mate, y muere, sin ser su enemigo ni procuran su mal,

Or with any stone, wherewith a man may die, seeing [him] not, and cast [it] upon him, that he die, and [was] not his enemy, neither sought his harm:

24 entonces la asamblea juzgará entre el que hirió, el herido y el vengador de la sangre según estas Leyes.

Then the congregation shall judge between the slayer and the revenger of blood according to these judgments:

25 Así la asamblea librará al homicida de la mano del vengador de la sangre, y la asamblea hará que vuelva a su ciudad de refugio donde se refugió. Allí vivirá hasta la muerte del sumo sacerdote que fue ungido con el aceite del Santuario.

And the congregation shall deliver the slayer out of the hand of the revenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to the city of his refuge, whither he was fled: and he shall abide in it unto the death of the high priest, which was anointed with the holy oil.

26 Pero si el homicida sale fuera del límite de su ciudad de refugio donde se refugió,

But if the slayer shall at any time come without the border of the city of his refuge, whither he was fled;

27 y el vengador de la sangre lo encuentra fuera del límite de su ciudad de refugio, y el vengador de la sangre mata al homicida, aquél no será culpable de sangre,

And the revenger of blood find him without the borders of the city of his refuge, and the revenger of blood kill the slayer; he shall not be guilty of blood:

28 porque el homicida debió vivir en su ciudad de refugio hasta la muerte del sumo sacerdote. Solo después de la muerte del sumo sacerdote, el homicida podrá regresar a la tierra de su posesión.

Because he should have remained in the city of his refuge until the death of the high priest: but after the death of the high priest the slayer shall return into the land of his possession.

29 Estas cosas les servirán de estatuto legal en sus generaciones, en todo lugar donde vivan.

So these [things] shall be for a statute of judgment unto you throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

30 Cualquiera que mate a alguno, morirá por el testimonio de testigos, pero el testimonio de un solo testigo no bastará para que muera una persona.

Whoso killeth any person, the murderer shall be put to death by the mouth of witnesses: but one witness shall not testify against any person [to cause him] to die.

31 No aceptarán rescate por la vida del homicida, porque está condenado a muerte. Ciertamente morirá.

Moreover ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which [is] guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death.

32 Tampoco aceptarán rescate del que se asiló en su ciudad de refugio para que vuelva a vivir en su tierra antes de la muerte del sacerdote.

And ye shall take no satisfaction for him that is fled to the city of his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.

33 No profanarán la tierra en la cual están, porque la sangre profana la tierra. La tierra no tendrá sacrificio que apacigua por la sangre que fue derramada en ella, excepto con la sangre del que la derramó.

So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye [are: ] for blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.

34 No contaminarán la tierra donde ustedes viven, en medio de la cual Yo moro, porque Yo, Yavé, moro en medio de los hijos de Israel.

Defile not therefore the land which ye shall inhabit, wherein I dwell: for I the LORD dwell among the children of Israel.
