Números 24

1 Cuando Balaam vio que era grato a Yavé bendecir a Israel, no fue como las otras veces, en busca de encantamientos, sino que volvió su rostro hacia el desierto.

When Balaam saw that it pleased the Lord to blesse Israel, then he went not, as certaine times before, to set diuinations, but set his face toward the wildernesse.

2 Al levantar sus ojos, Balaam vio a Israel acampado según sus tribus, y el Espíritu de ʼElohim vino sobre él.

And Balaam lift vp his eyes, and looked vpon Israel, which dwelt according to their tribes, and the Spirit of God came vpon him.

3 Y tomó su parábola: Dijo Balaam, hijo de Beor, Palabra del varón de ojo abierto.

And he vttered his parable, and sayd, Balaam the sonne of Beor hath sayde, and the man, whose eyes were shut vp, hath sayd,

4 Palabra del que oye los dichos de ʼElohim, Que contempla la visión de ʼEL-Shadday, Caído, pero con los ojos abiertos.

He hath sayde, which heard the wordes of God, and sawe the vision of the Almightie, and falling in a traunce had his eyes opened:

5 ¡Cuán hermosas son tus tiendas, oh Jacob! Tus habitaciones, ¡oh Israel!

How goodly are thy tentes, O Iaakob, and thine habitations, O Israel!

6 Como valles que se extienden, Como huertos junto al río, Como áloes plantados por Yavé, Como cedros junto a las aguas.

As the valleis, are they stretched forth, as gardes by the riuers side, as the aloe trees, which the Lord hath planted, as the cedars beside the waters.

7 De sus cántaros fluyen aguas, Y su descendencia tendrá aguas abundantes, Más exaltado que Agag será su rey, Y enaltecido su reino.

The water droppeth out of his bucket, and his seede shalbe in many waters, and his king shall be hier then Agag, and his kingdome shall bee exalted.

8 ʼElohim lo sacó de Egipto. Es para Él como los cuernos del búfalo. Devora a las naciones enemigas, Desmenuza sus huesos, Y las atraviesa con sus flechas.

God brought him out of Egypt: his strength shalbe as an vnicorne: he shall eate the nations his enemies, and bruise their bones, and shoote them through with his arrowes.

9 Se agazapa, se echa cual león. Y como leona, ¿quién lo hará despertar? ¡Benditos los que te bendigan, Y malditos los que te maldigan!

He coucheth and lieth downe as a yong lion, and as a lion: who shall stirre him vp? blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee.

10 Entonces la ira de Balac se encendió contra Balaam, y al batir sus manos, dijo Balac a Balaam: ¡Para maldecir a mis enemigos te llamé, y mira, con ésta los has bendecido tres veces!

Then Balak was very angry with Balaam, and smote his handes together: so Balak sayde vnto Balaam, I sent for thee to curse mine enemies, and beholde, thou hast blessed them nowe three times.

11 ¡Ahora pues, vete a tu lugar! Prometí llenarte de honores, pero ciertamente Yavé te privó de honor.

Therefore nowe flee vnto thy place: I thought surely to promote thee vnto honour, but loe, the Lord hath kept thee backe from honour.

12 Balaam respondió a Balac: ¿No hablé yo a los mensajeros que me enviaste:

Then Balaam answered Balak, Tolde I not also thy messengers, which thou sentest vnto me, saying,

13 Aunque Balac me diera su casa llena de plata y oro, no podría traspasar la Palabra de Yavé haciendo por mi propio impulso cosa buena ni mala? Lo que diga Yavé eso diré.

If Balak would giue me his house ful of siluer and gold, I can not passe the commandement of the Lord, to doe either good or bad of mine owne minde? what the Lord shall commaund, the same will I speake.

14 Ahora, mira, ya me voy a mi pueblo. Ven pues, y te informaré lo que este pueblo hará a tu pueblo en los días venideros.

And nowe behold, I goe vnto my people: come, I will aduertise thee what this people shall doe to thy folke in the later dayes.

15 Tomó su parábola: Palabra de Balaam, hijo de Beor, Palabra del varón cuyo ojo está abierto.

And he vttered his parable, and sayd, Balaam the sonne of Beor hath sayde, and the man whose eyes were shut vp, hath sayd,

16 Palabra del que oye las Palabras de ʼEL, Que conoce la ciencia de ʼElyón, Y contempla las visiones de Shadday. Caído, pero con ojos abiertos:

He hath said that heard the words of God, and hath the knowledge of the most High, and sawe the vision of the Almightie, and falling in a traunce had his eyes opened:

17 Lo veré, pero no ahora. Lo contemplaré, pero no de cerca. Surgirá una estrella de Jacob, Y de Israel se levantará un cetro Que aplastará las sienes de Moab Y el cráneo de todos los hijos de Set.

I shall see him, but not nowe: I shall behold him, but not neere: there shall come a starre of Iaakob, and a scepter shall rise of Israel, and shall smite the coastes of Moab, and destroy all the sonnes of Sheth.

18 Edom será desposeído. Se empobrecerá Seír, su enemigo, Pero Israel hará proezas.

And Edom shalbe possessed, and Seir shall be a possession to their enemies: but Israel shall do valiantly.

19 Uno nacido de Jacob dominará, Y aniquilará el remanente de la ciudad.

He also that shall haue dominion shall bee of Iaakob, and shall destroy the remnant of the citie.

20 Luego vio a Amalec y tomó su parábola: Cabeza de naciones es Amalec, Pero su final, destrucción perpetua.

And when he looked on Amalek, he vttered his parable, and sayd, Amalek was the first of the nations: but his latter ende shall come to destruction.

21 Al ver a los ceneos tomó su parábola: Fuerte es tu habitación, Y pusiste tu nido en la peña.

And he looked on the Kenites, and vttered his parable, and sayde, Strong is thy dwelling place, and put thy nest in the rocke.

22 Pero el ceneo será consumido. ¿Hasta cuándo Assur te mantendrá cautivo?

Neuerthelesse, the Kenite shalbe spoyled vntill Asshur cary thee away captiue.

23 Aun tomó otra parábola: ¡Ay! ¿Quién vivirá cuando ʼElohim haga estas cosas?

Againe he vttered his parable, and sayd, Alas, who shall liue when God doeth this?

24 Vendrán naves de la costa de Quitim, Someterán a Assur, y someterán a Eber, Pero también él irá a destrucción.

The ships also shall come from the coastes of Chittim, and subdue Asshur, and shall subdue Eber, and he also shall come to destruction.

25 Entonces Balaam se levantó. Fue y regresó a su lugar. También Balac salió por su camino.

Then Balaam rose vp, and went and returned to his place: and Balak also went his way.
