Números 20
1 Toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel llegó al desierto de Zin el mes primero, y el pueblo permaneció en Cades. Allí murió Miriam, y fue sepultada.
The children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came into the wilderness of Zin in the first month: and the people stayed in Kadesh; and Miriam died there, and was buried there.
2 Se reunieron contra Moisés y Aarón porque no había agua para la congregación.
There was no water for the congregation: and they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.
3 El pueblo contendió contra Moisés: ¡Ojalá hubiéramos perecido cuando nuestros hermanos murieron delante de Yavé!
The people strove with Moses, and spoke, saying, "We wish that we had died when our brothers died before Jehovah.
4 ¿Por qué trajiste a la congregación de Yavé a este desierto para que nosotros y nuestro ganado muramos aquí?
Why have you brought the assembly of Jehovah into this wilderness, that we should die there, we and our animals?
5 ¿Y por qué nos hicieron salir de Egipto para traernos a este miserable lugar? No es lugar de sementeras, de higueras, de viñas, ni de granadas. Ni siquiera hay agua para beber.
Why have you made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in to this evil place? It is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink."
6 Moisés y Aarón se fueron de delante de la congregación a la entrada del Tabernáculo de Reunión. Cayeron sobre sus rostros, y la gloria de Yavé se mostró a ellos.
Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly to the door of the Tent of Meeting, and fell on their faces: and the glory of Jehovah appeared to them.
7 Entonces Yavé habló a Moisés:
Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
8 Toma la vara. Tú y tu hermano Aarón reúnan la asamblea. Hablen a la peña ante los ojos de ellos, y ella dará sus aguas. Les sacarás agua de la peña y darás de beber a la congregación y a sus ganados.
"Take the rod, and assemble the congregation, you, and Aaron your brother, and speak to the rock before their eyes, that it give forth its water; and you shall bring forth to them water out of the rock; so you shall give the congregation and their livestock drink."
9 Moisés tomó la vara de delante de Yavé, como le ordenó.
Moses took the rod from before Jehovah, as he commanded him.
10 Moisés y Aarón congregaron la asamblea frente a la peña, y él les dijo: Oigan ahora, rebeldes. ¿Les sacaremos agua de esta peña?
Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock, and he said to them, "Hear now, you rebels; shall we bring you water out of this rock for you?"
11 Entonces Moisés alzó su mano y golpeó la peña con su vara dos veces, y salió agua abundante y bebieron, tanto la congregación como su ganado.
Moses lifted up his hand, and struck the rock with his rod twice: and water came forth abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their livestock.
12 Pero Yavé dijo a Moisés y a Aarón: Por cuanto no creyeron en Mí para santificarme a vista de los hijos de Israel, no introducirán a esta congregación en la tierra que les di.
Jehovah said to Moses and Aaron, "Because you did not believe in me, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them."
13 Estas son las aguas de Meriba donde los hijos de Israel contendieron contra Yavé, y Él manifestó su santidad entre ellos.
These are the waters of Meribah; because the children of Israel strove with Jehovah, and he was sanctified in them.
14 Moisés envió mensajeros desde Cades al rey de Edom, y dijeron: Tu hermano Israel dice: Tú sabes toda la calamidad que nos aconteció,
Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom, saying: "Thus says your brother Israel: You know all the travail that has happened to us:
15 cómo nuestros antepasados bajaron a Egipto, cómo estuvimos en Egipto largo tiempo y cómo los egipcios nos maltrataron a nosotros y a nuestros antepasados.
how our fathers went down into Egypt, and we lived in Egypt a long time; and the Egyptians dealt ill with us, and our fathers:
16 Pero cuando clamamos a Yavé, oyó nuestra voz, envió a su Ángel y nos sacó de Egipto. Ahora, mira, estamos en Cades, ciudad que se encuentra en el extremo de tu territorio.
and when we cried to Jehovah, he heard our voice, and sent an angel, and brought us forth out of Egypt: and look, we are in Kadesh, a city in the uttermost of your border.
17 Te rogamos que nos permitas pasar por tu tierra. No pasaremos por labranzas ni viñas, ni beberemos agua de ningún pozo. Iremos por el camino real, sin apartarnos ni a derecha ni a izquierda, hasta que pasemos tu territorio.
"Please let us pass through your land: we will not pass through field or through vineyard, neither will we drink of the water of the wells: we will go along the king's highway; we will not turn aside to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed your border."
18 Pero Edom le respondió: No pasarás por mi tierra. De otro modo, saldré contra ti con la espada.
Edom said to him, "You shall not pass through me, lest I come out with the sword against you."
19 Los hijos de Israel respondieron: Iremos por el camino real, y si nosotros y nuestros ganados bebemos tus aguas, pagaremos el precio. Solo se trata de pasar a pie.
The children of Israel said to him, "We will go up by the highway; and if we drink of your water, I and my livestock, then will I give its price: let me only, without doing anything else, pass through on my feet."
20 Pero él dijo: No pasarás. Y Edom salió contra él con mucho pueblo y mano fuerte.
He said, "You shall not pass through." Edom came out against him with many people, and with a strong hand.
21 Así Edom se negó a dejar pasar a Israel por su territorio, e Israel se desvió de él.
Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border, so Israel turned away from him.
22 Los hijos de Israel, toda aquella congregación, salieron de Cades, y fueron hacia la montaña Hor.
They traveled from Kadesh: and the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came to Mount Hor.
23 Yavé habló a Moisés y Aarón en la montaña Hor, en los confines de la tierra de Edom:
Jehovah spoke to Moses and Aaron in Mount Hor, by the border of the land of Edom, saying,
24 Aarón será reunido a su pueblo, pues no entrará en la tierra que Yo di a los hijos de Israel, por cuanto fueron rebeldes a mi Palabra en las aguas de Meriba.
"Aaron shall be gathered to his people; for he shall not enter into the land which I have given to the children of Israel, because you rebelled against my word at the waters of Meribah.
25 Toma a Aarón y a su hijo Eleazar, y hazlos subir a la montaña Hor.
Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up to Mount Hor;
26 Quítale a Aarón sus ropas, y viste con ellas a su hijo Eleazar. Aarón será reunido a su pueblo y morirá allí.
and strip Aaron of his garments, and put them on Eleazar his son: and Aaron shall be taken, and shall die there."
27 Moisés hizo como Yavé le mandó, y subieron a la montaña Hor ante los ojos de toda la congregación.
Moses did as Jehovah commanded: and they went up into Mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation.
28 Entonces Moisés despojó a Aarón de sus ropas y vistió a su hijo Eleazar con ellas. Y Aarón murió allí en la cumbre de la montaña. Luego Moisés y Eleazar descendieron de la montaña.
Moses stripped Aaron of his garments, and put them on Eleazar his son; and Aaron died there on the top of the mountain: and Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain.
29 Al ver toda la congregación que Aarón falleció, toda la casa de Israel le hizo duelo durante 30 días.
When all the congregation saw that Aaron was dead, they wept for Aaron thirty days, even all the house of Israel.
