Números 16
1 Coré, hijo de Itsar, hijo de Coat, hijo de Leví, Datán y Abirán, hijos de Eliab, y On, hijo de Pelet, de los hijos de Rubén, se envanecieron.
Then took Korah, son of Izhar son of Kohath son of Levi, —and Dathan and Abiram sons of Eliab, and On, son of Peleth sons of Reuben;
2 Se levantaron contra Moisés con 250 hombres de los hijos de Israel, jefes de la congregación, miembros del consejo, varones de renombre.
and rose up before Moses, with certain men of the sons of Israel, two hundred and fifty, —princes of assembly, called to the stated meeting, men of renown;
3 Se reunieron contra Moisés y Aarón y les dijeron: ¡Ya basta de ustedes! Porque toda la congregación, todos ellos son santos, y Yavé también está en medio de ellos. ¿Por qué, pues, se enaltecen ustedes sobre la congregación de Yavé?
and gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron and said unto them Too much for you, when, all the assembly, are, all of them, holy, and in the midst of them, is Yahweh, —Wherefore, then, should ye set yourselves up, above the convocation of Yahweh?
4 Cuando Moisés [lo] oyó cayó sobre su rostro,
And, when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face.
5 y habló a Coré y a todo su séquito: Por la mañana Yavé mostrará quién es suyo y quién es santo. Acercará a Él al que escoja. Lo acercará a Él mismo.
Then spake he unto Korah, and unto all his assembly, saying, In the morning, will Yahweh make known who are his, and who is the holy one and will cause him to come near unto himself, —yea him whom he shall choose, will he cause to come near unto himself.
6 Hagan esto: Coré y todo su séquito tomen incensarios.
This do, —Take to you censers, Korah and all his assembly;
7 Y mañana, pongan fuego en ellos y quemen incienso delante de Yavé. El hombre a quien Yavé escoja, ése será el santo. ¡Esto les baste, hijos de Leví!
and place therein fire, and put thereon incense before Yahweh, to-morrow, So shall it be—that, the man whom Yahweh shall choose, he shall be the holy one. Too much for you ye sons of Levi!
8 Moisés dijo además a Coré: Oigan ahora, hijos de Leví:
And Moses said unto Korah, —Hear, I pray you, ye sons of Levi!
9 ¿Les es poco que el ʼElohim de Israel los apartó de la congregación de Israel, los acercó a Él para que ministren en el servicio del Tabernáculo de Yavé, y estén delante de la congregación para ministrarles?
Is it too small a thing for you that the God of Israel hath separated you from the assembly of Israel, to bring you near unto himself, —to do the laborious work of the habitation of Yahweh, and to stand before the assembly, to wait upon them?
10 Que a ti te ha traído, y contigo a todos tus hermanos, los hijos de Leví, ¿pero ahora pretenden también el sacerdocio?
But having brought thee near, and all thy brethren the sons of Levi with thee, must ye seek priesthood also?
11 Tú y todo tu séquito se confabularon contra Yavé, pues ¿quién es Aarón para que murmuren contra él?
Wherefore thou and all thine assembly, are conspiring against Yahweh, —But Aaron, what is he, that ye should murmur against him?
12 Entonces Moisés mandó a llamar a Datán y Abirán, hijos de Eliab, pero ellos respondieron: No subiremos.
Then sent Moses, to call for Dathan and for Abiram sons of Eliab, —and they said We will not come up:
13 ¿Es poco que nos hiciste salir de una tierra que fluye leche y miel para hacernos morir en el desierto, y que además insistas en dominarnos de manera absoluta?
Was it, a small thing, that thou didst bring us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to put us to death in the desert but thou must, continue even to lord it, over us?
14 Tampoco nos introdujiste en la tierra que fluye leche y miel, ni nos diste en heredad campos y vides. ¿Pretendes arrancar los ojos a estos hombres? ¡No iremos!
Certainly not into a land flowing with milk and honey, hast thou brought us, nor given unto us an inheritance of field and vineyard, —The eyes of those men, wilt thou dig out? We will not come up.
15 Entonces Moisés se enardeció muchísimo y dijo a Yavé: No aceptes su ofrenda. No tomé de ellos ni un asno. A ninguno de ellos hice mal.
Then was Moses very angry, and he said unto Yahweh, Do not thou have respect unto their meal-offering. Not one ass, from them, have I taken, neither have I wronged one of them.
16 Después dijo Moisés a Coré: Tú y todo tu séquito preséntense mañana delante de Yavé, tú, ellos y Aarón.
And Moses said unto Korah, Thou, and all thine assembly, come ye before Yahweh, —thou, and they, and Aaron to-morrow.
17 Tome cada uno su incensario y pongan incienso en ellos. Acérquense a Yavé, cada uno con su incensario. 250 incensarios, tú y Aarón, cada uno con su incensario.
And take ye each man his censer and put thereon incense, then shall ye bring near before Yahweh, each man his censer, two hundred and fifty Censers, —and, thou and Aaron, each man his censer.
18 Entonces cada uno tomó su incensario, echaron incienso en ellos y pusieron fuego en ellos. Se mantuvieron en la entrada del Tabernáculo de Reunión con Moisés y Aarón.
So they took each man his censer and put thereon fire, and placed thereon incense, —and took their stand at the entrance of the tent of meeting with Moses and Aaron.
19 Coré hizo reunir contra ellos a toda la asamblea en la entrada al Tabernáculo de Reunión. Entonces la gloria de Yavé se mostró a toda la asamblea.
And Korah gathered together against them all the assembly, unto the entrance of the tent of meeting, —then appeared the glory of Yahweh, unto all the assembly.
20 Yavé habló a Moisés y a Aarón:
Then spake Yahweh unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying:
21 Apártense de en medio de esta congregación, y los consumiré en un instante.
Separate yourselves out of the midst of this assembly, —that I may consume them in a moment.
22 Pero ellos cayeron sobre sus rostros, y dijeron: ¡ʼElohim, ʼElohim del espíritu de todo ser humano! ¿No es un solo hombre el que pecó? ¿Por qué te enojas contra toda la congregación?
And they fell upon their faces and said, O GOD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, —shall, one man, sin, and against all the assembly, wilt thou be wroth.
23 Entonces Yavé habló a Moisés:
And Yahweh spake unto Moses, saying,
24 Habla a la asamblea: Apártense de alrededor de las tiendas de Coré, Datán y Abirán.
Speak unto the assembly, saying, —Get ye up from round about the habitation of Korah, Dathan and Abiram.
25 Entonces Moisés se levantó y fue a Datán y Abirán, y los ancianos de Israel lo siguieron.
So Moses rose up, and went, unto Dathan and Abiram, —then went, after him the elders of Israel.
26 Y habló a la asamblea: ¡Apártense ahora de las tiendas de estos hombres perversos, y no toquen nada de ellos para que no sean barridos con todos sus pecados!
And he spake unto the assembly, saying—Remove I pray you from beside the tents of these lawless men, and do not touch aught that pertaineth unto them, —lest ye be carried off, in all their sins.
27 Entonces se apartaron de los alrededores de las tiendas de Coré, Datán y Abirán. Pero Datán y Abirán salieron erguidos en la entrada de sus tiendas, con sus esposas, sus hijos y sus pequeños.
So they went up from beside the habitation of Korah, Dathan and Abiram on every side, —and, Dathan and Abiram, came out and stationed themselves at the entrance of their tents, with their wives and their sons and their little ones.
28 Moisés dijo: Por medio de esto sabrán que Yavé me envió a hacer todas estas obras, porque esto no es obra mía:
Then said Moses, Hereby, shall ye know, that, Yahweh hath sent me, to do all these works, —verily, not out of my own heart:
29 Si éstos mueren como muere cualquier hombre, y si son sentenciados como se sentencia a cualquier hombre, entonces Yavé no me envió.
If, as all human beings die, these do die, and the visitation of all human beings, be visited upon them, Yahweh, hath not sent me.
30 Pero si Yavé crea algo extraño, y la tierra abre su boca y se los traga con todas sus cosas, y descienden vivos al Seol, entonces entenderán que estos hombres despreciaron a Yavé. (Sheol h7585)
But, if, a creation, Yahweh create, and the ground open wide her mouth and swallow them up, with all that pertain unto them, and so they go down alive unto hades, then shall ye know, that these men have despised Yahweh. (Sheol h7585)
31 Aconteció que al terminar de hablar todas estas palabras, se abrió la tierra que estaba debajo de ellos.
And it came to pass as he made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground which was under them, clave asunder;
32 La tierra abrió su boca, y se los tragó a ellos, a sus familias, a todos los hombres que estaban con Coré y todos sus bienes.
and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up them, and their households, —and all the human beings who pertained unto Korah, with all their goods:
33 Y ellos, con todo lo que poseían, descendieron vivos al Seol. Los tragó la tierra y desaparecieron de en medio de la congregación. (Sheol h7585)
so, they, and all that pertained unto them, went down, alive unto hades, —and the earth, closed upon them, and they perished out of the midst of the convocation. (Sheol h7585)
34 Todos los israelitas que estaban alrededor de ellos huyeron cuando oyeron sus gritos, pues decían: ¡No sea que la tierra nos trague a nosotros!
And, all Israel who were round about them, fled at their cry, —for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up.
35 Salió fuego de Yavé que consumió a los 250 hombres que ofrecían el incienso.
Fire also came forth, from Yahweh, —and consumed the two hundred and fifty men, who offered the incense.
36 Entonces Yavé habló a Moisés:
Then spake Yahweh unto Moses, saying:
37 Dí a Eleazar, hijo del sacerdote Aarón, que recoja los incensarios de entre el incendio, porque están consagrados, y esparza allí las brasas.
Say unto Eleazar, son of Aaron the priest, that he take up the censers out of the midst of the burning, and the fire, scatter thou yonder, —for they have been hallowed.
38 Con los incensarios de los que pecaron contra sus vidas, harán planchas martilladas para recubrir el altar, por cuanto los presentaron ante Yavé y están consagrados. Serán una señal para los hijos de Israel.
As for the censers of these sinners against their own persons, they shall be made into beaten-out plates as an overlay for the altar, for they had brought them near before Yahweh and hallowed them, —so shall they become a sign unto the sons of Israel.
39 Entonces el sacerdote Eleazar tomó los incensarios de bronce con los cuales se presentaron los que fueron quemados y los laminaron para recubrir el altar,
And Eleazar the priest took the censers of bronze, which the consumed men had brought near, —and beat them out into plates for overlaying the altar:
40 como recuerdo para los hijos de Israel con respecto a que ningún extraño, que no sea de la descendencia de Aarón, puede ofrecer incienso a Yavé, para que no sea como Coré y como su séquito, según Yavé habló por medio de Moisés.
a memorial unto the sons of Israel, That no stranger, who is not of the seed of Aaron, shall draw near to offer incense before Yahweh, —lest he become like Korah and like his assembly, As spake Yahweh by the hand of Moses with regard thereto.
41 Al día siguiente, sin embargo, toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel murmuró contra Moisés y Aarón: ¡Ustedes son los que causaron la muerte del pueblo de Yavé!
And all the assembly of the sons of Israel murmured, on the morrow, against Moses and against, Aaron, saying, —Ye, have caused the death of the people of Yahweh.
42 Aconteció que cuando se juntó la congregación contra Moisés y Aarón, miraron hacia el Tabernáculo de Reunión. Ahí estaba la nube que lo cubrió, y se manifestó la gloria de Yavé.
And it came to pass, when the assembly gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, that they turned towards the tent of meeting, and lo! the cloud had covered it: and the glory of Yahweh, appeared.
43 Entonces Moisés y Aarón fueron al frente del Tabernáculo de Reunión.
And Moses and Aaron came in, before the tent of meeting.
44 Yavé habló a Moisés:
Then spake Yahweh unto Moses, saying:
45 ¡Apártense de en medio de esta congregación porque voy a consumirlos en un instante! Entonces cayeron sobre sus rostros,
Lift yourselves up out of the midst of this assembly, that I may consume them, as in a moment, —And they fell upon their faces.
46 y Moisés dijo a Aarón: ¡Toma el incensario, pon en él fuego del altar y ponle incienso encima! ¡Apresúrate, vé hacia la congregación y haz sacrificio que apacigua por ellos, porque la ira salió de la Presencia de Yavé, la mortandad comenzó!
Then said Moses unto Aaron—Take the censer and place thereon fire, from off the altar, and put incense [thereon], and, going quickly into the assembly, put a propitiatory-covering over them, —for wrath hath gone forth from before Yahweh the plague, hath begun.
47 Entonces, tal como Moisés habló, Aarón tomó el incensario y corrió hacia el medio de la asamblea, y ¡ciertamente la mortandad había comenzado entre el pueblo! Pero él puso el incienso e hizo sacrificio que apacigua a favor del pueblo.
Then took Aaron, as Moses spake, and ran into the midst of the convocation, and lo! the plague had begun among the people, —so he placed the incense, and put a propitiatory-covering over the people:
48 Se puso entre los muertos y los vivos, y la mortandad fue detenida.
thus did he take his stand between the dead and the living, —and the plague was restrained.
49 Sin embargo, los que murieron en aquella mortandad fueron 14.700, además de los que murieron por causa de Coré.
And so it was that they who died in the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, —besides them who died over the matter of Korah.
50 Aarón volvió a la puerta del Tabernáculo de Reunión donde estaba Moisés, pues la mortandad fue detenida.
And Aaron returned unto Moses, unto the entrance of the tent of meeting, —when, the plague, had been restrained.
