San Mateo 22
1 Jesús les habló otra vez en parábolas:
Yeshua answered and spoke again in parables to them, saying,
2 El reino celestial puede compararse a un rey que hizo fiesta de bodas para su hijo.
"The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king, who made a marriage feast for his son,
3 Envió a sus esclavos a llamar a los invitados a la fiesta de bodas, pero no quisieron ir.
and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage feast, but they would not come.
4 Volvió a enviar a otros esclavos y dijo: Anuncien a los invitados: Miren, preparé mi banquete. Sacrifiqué mis novillos y las reses engordadas. Todo está dispuesto. Vengan a la fiesta de bodas.
Again he sent out other servants, saying, 'Tell those who are invited, "Look, I have made ready my dinner. My cattle and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the marriage feast."'
5 Pero ellos no tomaron en cuenta la invitación. Se fueron, uno a su campo, el otro a su negocio,
But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise,
6 y los demás detuvieron a los esclavos [enviados], los maltrataron y los mataron.
and the rest grabbed his servants, and treated them shamefully, and killed them.
7 Entonces el rey se enfureció, envió sus ejércitos, mató a aquellos homicidas y quemó su ciudad.
The king was enraged, and sent his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.
8 Después dijo a sus esclavos: La boda a la verdad está preparada, pero los invitados no eran dignos.
"Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding is ready, but those who were invited weren't worthy.
9 Por tanto vayan a las encrucijadas de los caminos y llamen a cuantos hallen a la fiesta de bodas.
Go therefore to the intersections of the highways, and as many as you may find, invite to the marriage feast.'
10 Y cuando aquellos esclavos salieron a los caminos, reunieron a todos los que hallaron, tanto malos como buenos, y el salón de bodas se llenó de invitados.
And those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all they found, both bad and good, and the wedding was filled with those reclining.
11 Pero cuando el rey entró a ver a los invitados, encontró allí a un hombre que no estaba vestido con traje de boda.
But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man who did not have on wedding clothing,
12 Y le dijo: Amigo, ¿cómo entraste aquí sin traje de boda? Pero él enmudeció.
and he said to him, 'Friend, how did you come in here not wearing wedding clothing?' He was speechless.
13 Entonces el rey dijo a los sirvientes: Átenlo de pies y manos y échenlo a la oscuridad de afuera. Allí será el llanto y el crujido de los dientes,
Then the king said to the servants, 'Bind him hand and foot, and throw him into the outer darkness; there is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.'
14 porque muchos son [los] llamados, pero pocos [los ]escogidos.
For many are called, but few chosen."
15 Entonces los fariseos se fueron y deliberaron cómo enredarlo en alguna palabra.
Then the Pharisees went and took counsel how they might entrap him in his talk.
16 Le enviaron a los discípulos de ellos con los herodianos para que dijeran: Maestro, sabemos que eres veraz y enseñas con verdad el camino de Dios. No te cuidas de nadie, pues no miras la apariencia de los hombres.
They sent their talmidim to him, along with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that you are honest, and teach the way of God in truth, no matter whom you teach, for you are not partial to anyone.
17 Dinos. ¿Qué te parece? ¿Es lícito pagar tributo a César, o no?
Tell us therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?"
18 Pero Jesús entendió la malicia de ellos y respondió: ¿Por qué me tientan, hipócritas?
But Yeshua perceived their wickedness, and said, "Why do you test me, you hypocrites?
19 Muéstrenme la moneda del tributo. Y ellos le presentaron un denario.
Show me the tax money." They brought to him a denarius.
20 Les preguntó: ¿De quién es la imagen y la inscripción?
He asked them, "Whose is this image and inscription?"
21 Contestaron: De César. Entonces les ordenó: Den, pues, a César lo de César, y a Dios lo de Dios.
They said to him, "Caesar's." Then he said to them, "Give therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's."
22 Al oír [esto] se maravillaron, lo dejaron y salieron.
When they heard it, they were astonished, and left him, and went away.
23 Aquel día se le acercaron [los] saduceos, quienes dicen que no hay resurrección, y le preguntaron:
On that day Sadducees came to him, the ones saying that there is no resurrection. And they asked him,
24 Maestro, Moisés dijo: Si alguno muere y no tiene hijos, su hermano se casará con la esposa de él y levantará descendencia a su hermano.
saying, "Teacher, Moses said, 'If a man dies, having no children, his brother is to marry his wife, and raise up offspring for his brother.'
25 Ahora bien, había entre nosotros siete hermanos. El primero que se casó, murió, y como no tenía descendencia, dejó su esposa a su hermano.
Now there were with us seven brothers. The first married and died, and having no offspring, left his wife to his brother.
26 De la misma manera, también el segundo y el tercero, hasta el séptimo.
In like manner the second also, and the third, to the seventh.
27 Al final de todos, murió la mujer.
After them all, the woman died.
28 En la resurrección, ¿de cuál de los siete será esposa? Porque todos la tuvieron.
In the resurrection therefore, whose wife will she be of the seven? For they all had her."
29 Jesús les respondió: Están errados porque no entienden las Escrituras ni el poder de Dios.
But Yeshua answered them, "You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God.
30 Porque en la resurrección, no se casan ni son dados en casamiento, sino son como los ángeles en el cielo.
For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are like the angels in heaven.
31 Pero en cuanto a la resurrección de los muertos, ¿no leyeron lo dicho por Dios a ustedes:
But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read that which was spoken to you by God, saying,
32 Yo soy el Dios de Abraham, de Isaac, y de Jacob? Dios no es Dios de muertos sino de vivos.
'I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?' God is not the God of the dead, but of the living."
33 La multitud oyó y se maravilló de su doctrina.
When the crowds heard it, they were astonished at his teaching.
34 Entonces, al oír los fariseos que [Jesús] silenció a los saduceos, se pusieron de acuerdo.
But the Pharisees, when they heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, gathered themselves together.
35 Uno de ellos, para tentarlo, le preguntó:
One of them, a Law scholar, asked him a question, testing him.
36 Maestro, ¿cuál es [el ]gran Mandamiento en la Ley?
"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?"
37 Le respondió: Amarás al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma y con toda tu mente.
He said to him, "'You are to love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'
38 Éste es el grande y primer Mandamiento,
This is the great and first commandment.
39 y el segundo es semejante a éste: Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo.
A second likewise is this, 'You are to love your neighbor as yourself.'
40 De estos dos Mandamientos dependen toda la Ley y los profetas.
The whole Law and the Prophets depend on these two commandments."
41 Se reunieron los fariseos y Jesús les preguntó:
Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Yeshua asked them a question,
42 ¿Qué piensan ustedes del Cristo? ¿De quién es Hijo? Le respondieron: De David.
saying, "What do you think of the Messiah? Whose son is he?" They said to him, "Of David."
43 Les preguntó: ¿Pues cómo David en espíritu lo llama Señor? Dice:
He said to them, "How then does David in the Ruach call him Lord, saying,
44 Dijo el Señor a mi Señor: Siéntate a mi mano derecha Hasta que ponga a tus enemigos debajo de tus pies.
'The Lord said to my Lord, sit on my right hand, until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet'?
45 Pues si David lo llama Señor, ¿cómo es su Hijo?
"If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?"
46 Nadie le podía responder, y desde aquel día nadie más se atrevió a preguntarle algo.
No one was able to answer him a word, neither did anyone dare ask him any more questions from that day forth.
