San Mateo 16
1 Entonces algunos escribas y fariseos de Jerusalén se acercaron a Jesús para tentarlo. Le pidieron que les mostrara una señal del cielo.
And the Pharisees and Sadducees having come, tempting, questioned Him, to show to them a sign from Heaven,
2 Pero Él les respondió:
and He answering said to them, “Evening having come, you say, Fair weather, for the sky is red,
and at morning, Foul weather today, for the sky is red—gloomy; hypocrites, you indeed know to discern the face of the sky, but the signs of the times you are not able!
4 Esta generación perversa y adúltera demanda una señal milagrosa, pero no le será dada otra señal que la señal de Jonás. Después los dejó y salió.
An evil and adulterous generation seeks a sign, and a sign will not be given to it, except the sign of Jonah the prophet”; and having left them He went away.
5 Los discípulos llegaron a la otra orilla. Olvidaron llevar pan.
And His disciples having come to the other side, forgot to take loaves,
6 Jesús les dijo: Estén atentos y guárdense de la levadura de los fariseos y saduceos.
and Jesus said to them, “Beware, and take heed of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees”;
7 Entonces razonaban entre ellos: [Dice esto ]porque no trajimos pan.
and they were reasoning in themselves, saying, “Because we took no loaves.”
8 Al saberlo, Jesús les preguntó: Oh faltos de fe, ¿por qué piensan ustedes que no tienen pan?
And Jesus having known, said to them, “Why reason you in yourselves, you of little faith, because you took no loaves?
9 ¿Aún no entienden? ¿No recuerdan los cinco panes de los 5.000, y cuántos cestos recogieron?
Do you not yet understand, nor remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many hand-baskets you took up?
10 ¿Ni los siete panes de los 4.000, y cuántas canastas recogieron?
Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets you took up?
11 ¿No entienden que no les hablo de pan, sino de guardarse de la levadura de los fariseos y saduceos?
How do you not understand that I did not speak to you of bread—to take heed of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees?”
12 Entonces entendieron que no les dijo guardarse de la levadura del pan, sino de la enseñanza de los fariseos y saduceos.
Then they understood that He did not say to take heed of the leaven of the bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
13 Después de llegar Jesús a los alrededores de Cesarea de Filipo, preguntaba a sus discípulos: ¿Quién dicen los hombres que es el Hijo del Hombre?
And Jesus, having come to the parts of Caesarea Philippi, was asking His disciples, saying, “Who do men say I am—the Son of Man?”
14 Ellos contestaron: Unos, Juan el Bautista, otros Elías, y otros Jeremías o alguno de los profetas.
And they said, “Some, John the Immerser, and others, Elijah, and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.”
15 Les preguntó: Y ustedes, ¿quién dicen que soy Yo?
He says to them, “And you—who do you say I am?”
16 Simón Pedro contestó: Tú eres el Cristo, el Hijo del Dios viviente.
And Simon Peter answering said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
17 Jesús respondió: Inmensamente feliz eres, Simón, hijo de Jonás, porque no te lo reveló carne ni sangre, sino mi Padre celestial.
And Jesus answering said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jona, because flesh and blood did not reveal [it] to you, but My Father who is in the heavens.
18 Yo también te digo que tú eres Pedro, y sobre esta roca edificaré mi iglesia, y [las] puertas del Hades no prevalecerán contra ella. (Hadēs g86)
And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My Assembly, and [the] gates of Hades will not prevail against it; (Hadēs g86)
19 Te daré las llaves del reino celestial, y todo lo que prohíbas en la tierra ya fue prohibido en el cielo, y todo lo que permitas en la tierra ya fue permitido en el cielo.
and I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of the heavens, and whatever you may bind on the earth will be having been bound in the heavens, and whatever you may loose on the earth will be having been loosed in the heavens.”
20 Entonces ordenó a los discípulos que a nadie dijeran que Él es el Cristo.
Then He charged His disciples that they may say to no one that He is Jesus the Christ.
21 Desde entonces Jesús comenzó a decir a sus discípulos que Él debía ir a Jerusalén y padecer mucho de parte de los ancianos, de los principales sacerdotes y de los escribas, y morir y ser resucitado al tercer día.
From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that it is necessary for Him to go away to Jerusalem, and to suffer many things from the elders, and chief priests, and scribes, and to be put to death, and the third day to rise.
22 Pero Pedro lo tomó aparte y comenzó a reprenderlo: ¡Dios tenga compasión de Ti, Señor! De ningún modo te suceda esto.
And having taken Him aside, Peter began to rebuke Him, saying, “Be kind to Yourself, Lord; this will not be to You”;
23 Entonces Él dio la vuelta y le dijo a Pedro: ¡Colócate detrás de Mí, Satanás! Me eres tropiezo, pues no piensas lo de Dios, sino lo de los hombres.
and He having turned, said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling-block to Me, for you do not mind the things of God, but the things of men.”
24 Entonces Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: Si alguno quiere seguirme, niéguese a sí mismo, tome su cruz y sígame.
Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wills to come after Me, let him disown himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me,
25 Porque el que quiera salvar su vida, la perderá, pero el que pierda su vida por causa de Mí, la hallará.
for whoever may will to save his life will lose it, and whoever may lose his life for My sake will find it;
26 Pues, ¿qué aprovechará el hombre si gana todo el mundo y pierde su vida? O ¿qué dará el hombre a cambio de su alma?
for what is a man profited if he may gain the whole world, but of his life suffer loss? Or what will a man give as an exchange for his life?
27 Porque el Hijo del Hombre vendrá en la gloria de su Padre con sus ángeles, y entonces recompensará a cada uno según sus obras.
For the Son of Man is about to come in the glory of His Father, with His messengers, and then He will reward each according to his work.
28 En verdad les digo que hay algunos de los que están aquí, ¡que de ningún modo prueben muerte hasta que vean que el Hijo del Hombre viene en su reino!
Truly I say to you, there are certain of those standing here who will not taste of death until they may see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.”
