Lamentaciones 5
1 Acuérdate, oh Yavé, de lo que nos sucedió. Ve y mira nuestro oprobio.
Remember, O Yahweh, what hath befallen us, Look around, and see our reproach:
2 Nuestra heredad pasó a extraños, Nuestras casas a extranjeros.
Our inheritance, turned over to foreigners, our houses, to aliens.
3 Somos huérfanos, sin padre. Nuestras madres son como viudas.
Orphans, have we become, and fatherless, our mothers, are widows indeed.
4 Tenemos que pagar el agua que bebemos. Pagamos también nuestra leña.
Our water—for silver, have we drunk, our wood—for a price, cometh in.
5 Los que nos siguen están sobre nuestras nucas. Trabajamos y no tenemos descanso.
Upon our necks, are our pursuers, We labour, and there is allowed us no rest.
6 Tuvimos que someternos a Egipto y a Asiria Para tener suficiente pan.
To Egypt, have we stretched out our hand, to Assyria, to be satisfied with bread.
7 Nuestros antepasados pecaron, no existen. Nosotros cargamos sus iniquidades.
Our fathers, sinned, and are not, and, we, their iniquities, have borne.
8 Unos esclavos nos dominan. No hay uno que nos libre de su mano.
Slaves, have ruled over us, There is none to set free from their hand.
9 Para conseguir nuestro pan arriesgamos nuestras vidas A causa de la espada en la región despoblada.
At the risk of our life, do we bring in our bread, because of the sword of the desert.
10 Nuestra piel arde como un horno A causa de los ardores del hambre.
Our skin, as with a furnace, is scorched, because of the hot winds of famine.
11 Violaron a las mujeres en Sion, A las doncellas en los pueblos de Judá.
Women—in Zion, were ravished, virgins, in the cities of Judah!
12 Los magistrados fueron colgados de las manos, Y los ancianos no fueron respetados.
Princes, by their hand, have been hanged, The faces of elders, not honoured.
13 Los jóvenes trabajan en la piedra del molino, Y los niños se tambalean bajo el peso de la leña.
Young men, a millstone, have lifted, and, youths, under wood, have staggered.
14 Los ancianos se fueron de la puerta. Los jóvenes abandonaron su música.
Elders, from the gates, have ceased. Young men, from their music.
15 Cesó la alegría de nuestros corazones. Nuestra danza se convirtió en duelo,
Ceased hath the joy of our hearts, Changed to mourning, our dance.
16 La corona cayó de nuestra cabeza. ¡Ay de nosotros, porque pecamos!
Fallen is the crown of our head. Surely woe to us, for we have sinned.
17 A causa de esto nuestro corazón está enfermo. A causa de estas cosas se nublan nuestros ojos.
For this cause, faint is our heart, For these things, dimmed are our eyes:
18 Porque la Montaña Sion está desolada, Y las zorras se pasean por ella.
Because of Mount Zion, which is desolate, jackals, have gone prowling therein.
19 Sin embargo Tú, oh Yavé, permaneces para siempre. Tu trono es de generación en generación.
Thou, O Yahweh, unto times age-abiding, dost remain, Thy throne, from generation to generation:
20 ¿Te olvidarás para siempre de nosotros? ¿Nos abandonarás tanto tiempo?
Wherefore shouldst thou perpetually forget us? forsake us, to length of days?
21 Oh Yavé, devuélvenos a Ti, Y seremos restaurados. Renueva nuestros días para que sean como los de antaño.
Bring us back, O Yahweh, unto thyself, and we will come back! Renew our days, as of old;
22 A menos que nos hayas desechado por completo, Y estés sumamente airado contra nosotros.
For though thou hast not, utterly rejected, us, thou art wroth with us—exceedingly!
