1 Aquel día Débora y Barac, hijo de Abinoam, elevaron este cántico:
And Deborah singeth — also Barak son of Abinoam — on that day, saying: —
2 Por tomar el mando los caudillos en Israel, Porque voluntariamente se ofreció el pueblo, ¡Bendigan a Yavé!
'For freeing freemen in Israel, For a people willingly offering themselves Bless ye Jehovah.
3 ¡Oigan, oh reyes, escuchen nobles, Porque cantaré, cantaré a Yavé! ¡Cantaré salmos a Yavé, al ʼElohim de Israel!
Hear, ye kings; give ear, ye princes, I, to Jehovah, I — I do sing, I sing praise to Jehovah, God of Israel.
4 Cuando saliste de Seír, oh Yavé, Cuando marchaste desde el campo de Edom, La tierra tembló, los cielos destilaron, Y las nubes gotearon agua.
Jehovah, in Thy going forth out of Seir, In Thy stepping out of the field of Edom, Earth trembled, also the heavens dropped, Also thick clouds dropped water.
5 Temblaron las montañas delante de Yavé, Aquella Sinaí, ante Yavé, ʼElohim de Israel.
Hills flowed from the face of Jehovah, This one — Sinai — From the face of Jehovah, God of Israel.
6 En los días de Samgar, hijo de Anat, En los días de Jael, Los caminos estaban solitarios Y los viajeros iban por senderos desviados.
In the days of Shamgar son of Anath — In the days of Jael — The ways have ceased, And those going in the paths go [in] crooked ways.
7 Vacías en Israel quedaron las aldeas Hasta que te levantaste, Débora. ¡Te levantaste, oh madre de Israel!
Villages ceased in Israel — they ceased, Till that I arose — Deborah, That I arose, a mother in Israel.
8 Cuando escogían nuevos ʼelohim, La guerra estaba a las puertas. ¿Se veía escudo y lanza Entre 40.000 en Israel?
He chooseth new gods, Then war [is] at the gates! A shield is not seen — and a spear Among forty thousand in Israel.
9 ¡Mi corazón está con los jefes de Israel, Con los voluntarios del pueblo! ¡Bendigan a Yavé!
My heart [is] to the lawgivers of Israel, Who are offering themselves willingly among the people, Bless ye Jehovah!
10 Ustedes, los que montan asnas blancas, Los que presiden en juicio, Y los que van por el camino.
Riders on white asses — Sitters on a long robe — And walkers by the way — meditate!
11 Al clamor de los repartidores En los abrevaderos, Donde se cantan los triunfos de Yavé, Los triunfos de los aldeanos de Israel. Entonces el pueblo de Yavé Bajará a las puertas.
By the voice of shouters Between the places of drawing water, There they give out righteous acts of Jehovah, Righteous acts of His villages in Israel, Then ruled in the gates have the people of Jehovah.
12 ¡Despierta, despierta, Débora! ¡Despierta, despierta, Eleva un cántico! ¡Levántate, Barac! ¡Toma a tus cautivos, oh hijo de Abinoam!
Awake, awake, Deborah; Awake, awake, utter a song; Rise, Barak, and take captive thy captivity, Son of Abinoam.
13 ¡Entonces bajaron los sobrevivientes! ¡El pueblo contra los nobles!
Then him who is left of the honourable ones He caused to rule the people of Jehovah, He caused me to rule among the mighty.
14 ¡Yavé descendió por mí contra los poderosos! De Efraín bajaron aquéllos Cuya raíz es Amalec. Te siguió Benjamín con sus gentes. De Maquir bajaron los comandantes, Y de Zabulón los que tienen El bastón de mando.
Out of Ephraim their root [is] against Amalek. After thee, Benjamin, among thy peoples. Out of Machir came down lawgivers, And out of Zebulun those drawing with the reed of a writer.
15 Los jefes de Isacar fueron con Débora. Así como Barac, También Isacar fue llevado tras él al valle. En las familias de Rubén hubo grandes decisiones del corazón.
And princes in Issachar [are] with Deborah, Yea, Issachar [is] right with Barak, Into the valley he was sent on his feet. In the divisions of Reuben, Great [are] the decrees of heart!
16 ¿Por qué te quedaste en los rediles Y escuchabas las flautas de los rebaños? Largas fueron las investigaciones del corazón en las familias de Rubén,
Why hast thou abode between the boundaries, To hear lowings of herds? For the divisions of Reuben, Great [are] the searchings of heart!
17 Mientras Galaad reposa al otro lado del Jordán, ¿Por qué se demora Dan en las naves, Y Aser se detiene en la costa del mar, Y en sus puertos se queda tranquilo?
Gilead beyond the Jordan did tabernacle, And Dan — why doth he sojourn [in] ships? Asher hath abode at the haven of the seas, And by his creeks doth tabernacle.
18 Zabulón, pueblo que expuso su vida hasta la muerte, Como Neftalí en las alturas del campo.
Zebulun [is] a people who exposed its soul to death, Naphtali also — on high places of the field.
19 Los reyes vinieron y combatieron [contra] reyes. Entonces pelearon los reyes de Canaán en Tanac Junto a las aguas de Meguido, Pero no tomaron despojos de plata,
Kings came — they fought; Then fought kings of Canaan, In Taanach, by the waters of Megiddo; Gain of money they took not!
20 Pues desde los cielos pelearon las estrellas. Desde sus órbitas combatieron contra Sísara.
From the heavens they fought: The stars from their highways fought with Sisera.
21 El arroyo de Cisón los arrastró, Arroyo antiguo, arroyo de Cisón. Marcha con fuerza, ¡oh alma mía!
The brook Kishon swept them away, The brook most ancient — the brook Kishon. Thou dost tread down strength, O my soul!
22 Entonces resonaron los cascos de corceles, El continuo galopar de sus caballos.
Then broken were the horse-heels, By pransings — pransings of its mighty ones.
23 ¡Maldigan a Meroz! dice el Ángel de Yavé. Maldigan severamente a sus habitantes, Porque no llegaron a la ayuda de Yavé, A ayudar a Yavé contra los valientes.
Curse Meroz — said a messenger of Jehovah, Cursing, curse ye its inhabitants, For they came not to the help of Jehovah, To the help of Jehovah among the mighty!
24 ¡La más bendecida entre las mujeres es Jael, La esposa de Heber ceneo, La más bendita entre las mujeres en la tienda!
Blessed above women is Jael, Wife of Heber the Kenite, Above women in the tent she is blessed.
25 Pidió agua, y le dio leche. En magnífico tazón le sirvió cuajada.
Water he asked — milk she gave; In a lordly dish she brought near butter.
26 Extendió su mano a la estaca, Y su mano derecha al mazo de artesano. A Sísara mató, machacó su cabeza. Le quebró y atravesó su sien.
Her hand to the pin she sendeth forth, And her right hand to the labourers' hammer, And she hammered Sisera — she smote his head, Yea, she smote, and it passed through his temple.
27 A los pies de ella se encorvó. Cayó, quedó tendido.
Between her feet he bowed — He fell, he lay down; Between her feet he bowed, he fell; Where he bowed, there he fell — destroyed.
28 La madre de Sísara se asoma a la ventana, Y clama por entre las celosías: ¿Por qué tarda en llegar su carruaje? ¿Por qué se detienen las ruedas de sus carruajes?
Through the window she hath looked out — Yea, she crieth out — the mother of Sisera, Through the lattice: Wherefore is his chariot delaying to come? Wherefore tarried have the steps of his chariot?
29 Las más sabias de sus damas le responden, Y aun ella se repite las palabras:
The wise ones, her princesses, answer her, Yea, she returneth her sayings to herself:
30 ¿Ya agarran el botín y lo reparten? Una doncella o dos por cada guerrero, Botín de colores para Sísara, Recamados y bordados para mi cuello. ¡Gran botín!
Do they not find? — they apportion spoil, A female — two females — for every head, Spoil of finger-work for Sisera, Spoil of embroidered finger-work, Finger-work — a pair of embroidered things, For the necks of the spoil!
31 ¡Así perezcan todos tus enemigos, oh Yavé! ¡Los que te aman sean como el sol Cuando sale en su fuerza! Y la tierra reposó 40 años.
So do all Thine enemies perish, O Jehovah, And those loving Him [are] As the going out of the sun in its might!' and the land resteth forty years.
