Josué 8
1 Yavé dijo a Josué: ¡No temas ni desmayes! Toma contigo a toda la gente de guerra. Vé y sube a Hai. Mira, Yo entregué en tu mano al rey de Hai, su pueblo, su ciudad y su tierra.
Forsothe the Lord seide to Josue, Nether drede thou `withoutforth, `nether drede thou withynne; take with thee al the multitude of fiyteris, and rise thou, and stie in to the citee of Hay; lo, Y haue bitake in thin hond the king therof, and the puple, and the citee, and the lond.
2 Tú harás con Hai y su rey como hiciste con Jericó y su rey, solo que podrán tomar para ustedes su botín y su ganado. Prepara una emboscada contra la ciudad, por detrás.
And thou schalt do to the citee of Hay, and to the king therof, as thou didist to Gerico, and to the king therof; sotheli ye schulen take to you the prey, and alle lyuynge beestis; sette thou `aspies, ethir buyschementis, to the citee bihynde it.
3 Josué se levantó con toda la gente de guerra para subir contra Hai. Escogió Josué 30.000 hombres fuertes, a los cuales envió de noche.
And Josue roos, and al the oost of fiyteris with hym, to stie in to Hay; and bi nyyte he sente thretti chosen thousynde of stronge men;
4 Les mandó: Miren, pondrán una emboscada a la ciudad, detrás de ella. No se alejen mucho de la ciudad, y estén todos preparados.
and comaundide to hem, and seide, Sette ye buyschementis bihynde the citee, and go ye not ferthere; and alle ye schulen be redi;
5 Después yo y todo el pueblo que está conmigo nos acercaremos a la ciudad, y cuando ellos salgan contra nosotros, como hicieron antes, huiremos delante de ellos.
forsothe Y, and the tothir multitude which is with me, schulen come on the contrarie side ayens the citee; and whanne thei schulen go out ayens vs, as we diden bifore, we schulen fle, and turne the backis,
6 Ellos saldrán tras nosotros, y haremos que se aparten de la ciudad, porque dirán: ¡Huyen de nosotros como la primera vez!
til thei pursuen, and ben drawun away ferthir fro the citee; for thei schulen gesse, that we schulen fle as bifore.
7 Mientras huimos de ellos, ustedes saldrán de la emboscada y tomarán la ciudad, pues Yavé su ʼElohim la entregó en su mano.
Therfor while we schulen fle, and thei pursue, ye schulen ryse fro the buyschementis, and schulen waste the citee; and youre Lord God schal bitake it in to youre hondis.
8 Cuando la ocupen, la incendiarán con fuego. Harán conforme a la Palabra de Yavé. Miren que se lo mandé.
And whanne ye han take it, `brenne ye it; `so ye schulen do alle thingis, as Y comaundide.
9 Entonces Josué los envió, y fueron a la emboscada. Se ubicaron entre Bet-ʼEl y Hai, al occidente de Hai. Josué pasó aquella noche en medio del pueblo.
And Josue lefte hem, and thei yeden to the place of buyschementis, and saten bitwixe Bethel and Hay, at the west coost of the citee of Hay. Forsothe Josue dwellide `in that nyyt in the myddis of the puple.
10 Josué se levantó muy de mañana, pasó revista al pueblo, y subió al frente del pueblo contra Hai junto con los ancianos de Israel.
And he roos eerli, and noumbride felowis, and stiede with the eldere in the frount of the oost, and was cumpassid with the helpe of fiyteris.
11 Toda la gente de guerra que lo acompañaba subió también y se acercaban hasta llegar frente a la ciudad. Acamparon al lado norte de Hai, y dejó el valle por medio entre él y Hai.
And whanne thei hadden come, and hadden stied ayens the citee, thei stoden at the north coost of the citee, bitwixe which citee and hem the valei was in the myddis.
12 Entonces tomó unos 5.000 hombres, y los emboscó entre Bet-ʼEl y Hai, al occidente de la ciudad.
`Sotheli he hadde chose fyue thousynde men, and hadde sette in buyschementis bitwixe Bethauen and Hay, in the west part of the same citee.
13 Así dispusieron al pueblo: todo el ejército al norte de la ciudad, y su retaguardia al occidente de la ciudad, mientras Josué pasó la noche en el medio del valle.
Sotheli al the tothir oost dresside scheltroun to the north, so that the laste men of the multitude touchiden the west coost of the citee. Therfor Josue yede in that nyyt, and stood in the myddis of the valei;
14 Sucedió que cuando el rey de Hai vio esto, los hombres de la ciudad se apresuraron. Él y todo su pueblo madrugaron y salieron a la batalla contra Israel en el lugar designado frente al Arabá, pero no sabía que había una emboscada contra él detrás de la ciudad.
and whanne the kyng of Hai had seyn that, he hastide eerli, and yede out with al the oost of the citee, and he dresside scheltrun ayens the deseert; and wiste not that buyschementis weren hid bihinde the bak.
15 Entonces Josué y todo Israel fingieron que estaban derrotados y huyeron por el camino del desierto.
Forsothe Josue and al the multitude `of Israel yauen place, feynynge drede, and fleynge bi the weie of wildirnesse; and thei crieden togidere,
16 Todo el pueblo que estaba en la ciudad fue convocado para perseguirlos. Persiguieron a Josué y se apartaron de la ciudad.
and excitiden hem silf togidere, and pursueden hem. And whanne thei hadden go awey fro the citee,
17 No quedó ni un hombre en Hai o en Bet-ʼEl que no saliera a perseguir a Israel, y dejaron abierta la ciudad.
and sothely not oon hadde left in the citee of Hai and Bethauen, that `pursuede not Israel, and thei leften the citees opyn, as thei hadden broke out,
18 Entonces Yavé dijo a Josué: Extiende la lanza que llevas en tu mano hacia Hai, porque la entregaré en tu mano. Y Josué extendió hacia la ciudad la lanza que tenía en su mano.
the Lord seide to Josue, `Reise thou the scheeld which is in thin hond, ayens the citee of Hay; for Y schal yyue it to thee.
19 Tan pronto como él la extendió, los emboscados salieron rápidamente de su lugar y corrieron. Entraron en la ciudad, la capturaron y se apresuraron a ponerle fuego.
And whanne he hadde reisid the scheld ayens the citee, buyschementis, that weren hid, riseden anoon; and thei yeden to the citee, and token, and brenten it.
20 Cuando los hombres de Hai volvieron la cara y miraron, ciertamente la humareda de la ciudad subía al cielo. No tuvieron lugar para huir, ni por un lado ni por el otro, porque el pueblo que huía al desierto regresó contra sus perseguidores.
Forsothe the men of the citee, that pursueden Josue, bihelden, and siyen the smoke of the citee stie `til to heuene; and thei myyten no more fle hidur and thidur; most sithen thei that hadden feyned fliyt, and yeden to wildirnesse, withstoden stronglieste `ayens the pursueris.
21 Pues Josué y todo Israel, al ver que los de la emboscada habían tomado la ciudad, y que la humareda de la ciudad subía, regresaron y atacaron a los hombres de Hai.
And Josue siy, and al Israel, that the citee was takun, and the smoke of the citee stiede; and he turnede ayen, and smoot the men of Hay.
22 Los otros salieron de la ciudad a su encuentro, y así quedaron en medio de Israel, unos por una parte y otros por la otra. Así los mataron hasta que no quedó algún sobreviviente ni fugitivo.
Sotheli also thei that hadden take and brent the citee, yeden out of the cytee ayens her men, and bigunnen to smyte the myddil men of enemyes; and whanne aduersaries weren slayn `on euer ethir part, so that no man of so greet multitude was sauyd,
23 Pero el rey de Hai fue capturado vivo y lo llevaron a Josué.
thei tokun also the kyng of Hay lyuynge, and brouyten to Josue.
24 Cuando Israel puso fin a la matanza de todos los habitantes de Hai en el campo, aun en el desierto hasta donde los persiguieron, y todos cayeron a filo de espada hasta que fueron consumidos, sucedió que todo Israel regresó a Hai y la arrasaron a filo de espada.
Therfor, whanne alle men weren slayn, that pursueden Israel goynge to deseert, and felden bi swerd in the same place, the sones of Israel turneden ayen, and smytiden the citee.
25 Los que cayeron en aquel día, hombres y mujeres, fueron 12.000, todos los de Hai,
Forsothe thei that `felden doun in the same dai, fro man `til to womman, weren twelue thousynde of men, alle men of the citee of Hay.
26 porque Josué no retrajo su mano con la cual sostenía la lanza hasta que exterminó a todos los habitantes de Hai.
Sotheli Josue withdrow not the hond, which he hadde dressid an hiy holdynge `the scheld, til alle the dwelleris of Hay weren slayn.
27 Israel tomó como botín solo los animales y el despojo de la ciudad, conforme a la Palabra que Yavé ordenó a Josué.
Forsothe the sones of Israel departiden to hem silf the werk beestis, and the preye of the citee, as the Lord comaundide to Josue;
28 Luego Josué incendió a Hai y la redujo a un montón de ruinas perpetuas, una desolación que se mantiene hasta hoy.
which brente the citee, and made it an euerlastynge biriel.
29 Colgó de un árbol al rey de Hai hasta la llegada de la noche, pero al ocultarse el sol, Josué dio orden para que bajaran su cadáver del árbol. Lo echaron en la entrada de la ciudad e hicieron levantar sobre él un gran montón de piedras, que permanece hasta hoy.
And he hangide the king therof in a iebat, `til to the euentid and the goynge doun of the sunne. And Josue comaundide, and thei puttiden doun his deed bodi fro the cros; and thei `castiden forth him in thilke entryng of the citee, and gaderiden on hym a greet heep of stoonus, which heep dwellith `til in to present dai.
30 Entonces Josué edificó un altar a Yavé ʼElohim de Israel en la montaña Ebal,
Thanne Josue bildide an auter to the Lord God of Israel in the hil of Hebal,
31 tal como Moisés, esclavo de Yavé, ordenó a los hijos de Israel, según está escrito en el Rollo de la Ley de Moisés, un altar de piedras sin labrar sobre las cuales ningún hombre alzó herramientas de hierro. Ofrecieron holocaustos y sacrificaron ofrendas de paz a Yavé sobre él.
as Moises, the `seruaunt of the Lord, comaundide to the sones of Israel, and it is writun in the book of Moises lawe, an auter of stoonys vnpolischid, whiche yrun touchide not. And he offride theron brent sacrifice to the Lord, and he offride pesible sacrifices;
32 [Josué] escribió allí sobre las piedras una copia de la Ley de Moisés, la cual escribió en presencia de los hijos de Israel.
and he wroot on the stoonys the Deutronomye of Moises lawe, `which he hadde declarid bifor the sones of Israel.
33 Todo Israel, sus ancianos, oficiales y jueces, estaban en pie a ambos lados del Arca, ante los sacerdotes levitas que cargaban el Arca del Pacto de Yavé. Tanto extranjeros como naturales, la mitad estaba frente a la montaña Gerizim, y la otra mitad frente a la montaña Ebal, tal como Moisés esclavo de Yavé ordenó la primera vez para que bendijeran al pueblo de Israel.

And first `sotheli he blesside the puple of Israel.
34 Después de esto, [Josué] leyó todas las Palabras de la Ley: la bendición y la maldición, conforme a todo lo que está escrito en el Rollo de la Ley.
Aftir these thingis he redde alle the wordis of blessyng and of cursyng, and alle thingis that weren writun in the book of lawe.
35 No hubo palabra de todo lo que Moisés ordenó, que Josué no leyera frente a toda la congregación de Israel, tanto a mujeres como a pequeños, y al extranjero que andaba en medio de ellos.
He lefte no thing vntouchid of these thingis that Moises comaundide; but he declaride alle thingis bifor al the multitude of Israel, to wymmen, and litle children, and to comelyngis that dwelliden among hem.
