Josué 7
1 Pero los hijos de Israel fueron infieles en cuanto a lo maldito, porque Acán, hijo de Carmi, hijo de Zera, de la tribu de Judá, se apropió de lo maldito, por lo cual la ira de Yavé se encendió contra los hijos de Israel.
And the sons of Israel commit a trespass in the devoted thing, and Achan, son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, taketh of the devoted thing, and the anger of Jehovah burneth against the sons of Israel.
2 Josué envió hombres desde Jericó hasta Hai, que estaba junto a Betavén, al oriente de Bet-ʼEl, y les dijo: Suban y espíen la tierra. Ellos subieron y espiaron Hai.
And Joshua sendeth men from Jericho to Ai, which [is] near Beth-Aven, on the east of Bethel, and speaketh unto them, saying, 'Go up and spy the land;' and the men go up and spy Ai,
3 Regresaron a Josué y le dijeron: Que no suba todo el pueblo, sino que suban como 2.000 ó 3.000 hombres y tomen a Hai. No ordenes que todo el pueblo se fatigue al marchar hacia allá, porque ellos son pocos.
and they turn back unto Joshua, and say unto him, 'Let not all the people go up; let about two thousand men, or about three thousand men, go up, and they smite Ai; cause not all the people to labour thither; for they [are] few.'
4 De manera que del pueblo subieron allí como 3.000 hombres, pero huyeron de los hombres de Hai.
And there go up of the people thither about three thousand men, and they flee before the men of Ai,
5 Éstos mataron a unos 36 hombres. Los persiguieron desde la puerta de su ciudad hasta Sebarim y los derrotaron en la bajada. Y el corazón del pueblo desfalleció y se volvió como agua.
and the men of Ai smite of them about thirty and six men, and pursue them before the gate unto Shebarim, and they smite them in Morad; and the heart of the people is melted, and becometh water.
6 Entonces Josué y los ancianos de Israel rasgaron sus ropas y cayeron sobre sus rostros en tierra ante el Arca de Yavé hasta llegar la noche. Se echaron polvo sobre sus cabezas.
And Joshua rendeth his garments, and falleth on his face to the earth before the ark of Jehovah till the evening, he and the elders of Israel, and they cause dust to go up on their head.
7 Josué dijo: ¡Ay, ʼAdonay Yavé! ¿Por qué ordenaste a este pueblo pasar el Jordán y nos entregaste en las manos de los amorreos para que nos destruya? ¡Ojalá nos hubiéramos quedado a vivir al otro lado del Jordán!
And Joshua saith, 'Ah, Lord Jehovah, why hast Thou at all caused this people to pass over the Jordan, to give us into the hand of the Amorite to destroy us? — and oh that we had been willing — and we dwell beyond the Jordan!
8 ¡Ah, ʼAdonay! ¿Qué puedo decir después que Israel volvió la espalda ante sus enemigos?
Oh, Lord, what do I say, after that Israel hath turned the neck before its enemies?
9 Pues cuando el cananeo y todos los habitantes de esta tierra lo oigan, nos rodearán y cortarán nuestro nombre de la tierra, y ¿qué harás Tú por tu gran Nombre?
and the Canaanite and all the inhabitants of the land do hear, and have come round against us, and cut off our name out of the earth; and what dost Thou do for Thy great name?'
10 Pero Yavé dijo a Josué: ¡Levántate! ¿Por qué te postras así sobre tu rostro?
And Jehovah saith unto Joshua, 'Rise for thee, why [is] this? — thou [art] falling on thy face?
11 Israel pecó. Quebrantó mi Pacto que Yo les ordené. Tomaron de lo maldito y robaron. También mintieron y lo pusieron entre sus enseres.
Israel hath sinned, and also they have transgressed My covenant which I commanded them, and also taken of the devoted thing, and also stolen, and also deceived, and also put [it] among their vessels,
12 Por eso los hijos de Israel no pueden estar erguidos ante ellos, sino que vuelven la espalda ante sus enemigos, por cuanto fueron malditos. Si no destruyen a los malditos de entre ustedes, no continuaré con ustedes.
and the sons of Israel have not been able to stand before their enemies; the neck they turn before their enemies, for they have become a devoted thing; I add not to be with you — if ye destroy not the devoted thing out of your midst.
13 Levántate, santifica al pueblo y dí: Santifíquense para mañana, porque Yavé el ʼElohim de Israel dice: ¡Hay un maldito en medio de ti, oh Israel! ¡No podrás hacer frente a tus enemigos hasta que quites lo maldito de en medio de ustedes!
'Rise, sanctify the people, and thou hast said, Sanctify yourselves for to-morrow; for thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, A devoted thing [is] in thy midst, O Israel, thou art not able to stand before thine enemies till your turning aside of the devoted thing out of your midst;
14 Se acercarán, pues, mañana por la mañana por sus tribus, y la tribu que Yavé tome se acercará por familias, y la familia que Yavé tome se acercará por casas, y la casa que Yavé tome se acercará hombre por hombre.
and ye have been brought near in the morning by your tribes, and it hath been, the tribe which Jehovah doth capture doth draw near by families, and the family which Jehovah doth capture doth draw near by households, and the household which Jehovah doth capture doth draw near by men;
15 El que sea descubierto con las cosas que están bajo maldición, él y su familia serán quemados con todo lo que poseen, por cuanto traspasó el Pacto de Yavé al cometer una cosa vergonzosa en Israel.
and it hath been, he who is captured with the devoted thing is burnt with fire, he and all that he hath, because he hath transgressed the covenant of Jehovah, and because he hath done folly in Israel.'
16 Entonces Josué se levantó muy de mañana y acercó a Israel por sus tribus. Y la tribu de Judá fue señalada.
And Joshua riseth early in the morning, and bringeth Israel near by its tribes, and the tribe of Judah is captured;
17 Acercó a la tribu de Judá y la familia de los hijos de Zera fue señalada. Luego acercó a los varones de la familia de los hijos de Sera, y Zabdi fue señalado.
and he bringeth near the family of Judah, and he captureth the family of the Zarhite; and he bringeth near the family of the Zarhite by men, and Zabdi is captured;
18 Mandó que los varones de su familia se acercaran, y Acán, hijo de Carmi, hijo de Zabdi, hijo de Zera, de la tribu de Judá, fue señalado.
and he bringeth near his household by men, and Achan — son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah — is captured.
19 Entonces Josué dijo a Acán: Hijo mío, te ruego, ahora da gloria a Yavé ʼElohim de Israel y dale alabanza. Declárame ahora lo que hiciste. No me lo ocultes.
And Joshua saith unto Achan, 'My son, put, I pray thee, honour on Jehovah, God of Israel, and give to Him thanks, and declare, I pray thee, to me, what thou hast done — hide not from me.'
20 Y Acán respondió a Josué: En verdad pequé contra Yavé ʼElohim de Israel, y esto fue lo que hice:
And Achan answereth Joshua, and saith, 'Truly I have sinned against Jehovah, God of Israel, and thus and thus I have done;
21 Entre el botín vi un bello manto babilónico, 2,2 kilogramos de plata y una barra de oro de 550 gramos. Los codicié y los tomé. Ahí están escondidos bajo tierra dentro de mi tienda y la plata debajo de ello.
and I see among the spoil a goodly robe of Shinar, and two hundred shekels of silver, and one wedge of gold, whose weight [is] fifty shekels, and I desire them, and take them; and lo, they [are] hid in the earth, in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.'
22 Josué envió emisarios, los cuales fueron corriendo a la tienda y, ciertamente, el manto estaba oculto en su tienda, y la plata debajo.
And Joshua sendeth messengers, and they run unto the tent, and lo, it is hidden in his tent, and the silver under it;
23 Los tomaron de dentro de la tienda y los llevaron a Josué y a todos los hijos de Israel. Los pusieron delante de Yavé.
and they take them out of the midst of the tent, and bring them in unto Joshua, and unto all the sons of Israel, and pour them out before Jehovah.
24 Josué y todo Israel tomaron a Acán, hijo de Zera, la plata, el manto y la barra de oro, a sus hijos y sus hijas, sus bueyes, sus asnos, sus ovejas, su tienda y todo lo que poseía, y los llevaron al valle de Acor.
And Joshua taketh Achan son of Zerah, and the silver, and the robe, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his ox, and his ass, and his flock, and his tent, and all that he hath, and all Israel with him, and they cause them to go up the valley of Achor.
25 Y Josué le preguntó: ¿Por qué nos perturbaste? ¡Qué Yavé te perturbe hoy! Y todos los israelitas los apedrearon y los quemaron.
And Joshua saith, 'What! thou hast troubled us! — Jehovah doth trouble thee this day;' and all Israel cast stones at him, and they burn them with fire, and they stone them with stones,
26 Levantaron sobre él un gran montón de piedras que permanece hasta hoy. Yavé se volvió del ardor de su ira. Por eso aquel lugar se llama valle de Acor hasta hoy.
and they raise up over him a great heap of stones unto this day, and Jehovah turneth back from the heat of His anger, therefore hath [one] called the name of that place 'Valley of Achor' till this day.
