Josué 5

1 Sucedió que cuando todos los reyes amorreos que estaban al occidente, al otro lado del Jordán, y todos los reyes cananeos que estaban frente al mar, oyeron cómo Yavé secó las aguas del Jordán ante los hijos de Israel hasta que cruzamos, desfalleció su corazón y no hubo en ellos más aliento delante de los hijos de Israel.

And it cometh to pass when all the kings of the Amorite which [are] beyond the Jordan, towards the sea, and all the kings of the Canaanite which [are] by the sea, hear how that Jehovah hath dried up the waters of the Jordan at the presence of the sons of Israel till their passing over, that their heart is melted, and there hath not been in them any more spirit because of the presence of the sons of Israel.

2 En aquel tiempo Yavé dijo a Josué: Prepárate cuchillos de pedernal y vuelve a circuncidar, por segunda vez, a los hijos de Israel.

At that time said Jehovah unto Joshua, 'Make for thee knives of flint, and turn back, circumcise the sons of Israel a second time;'

3 Josué se preparó cuchillos de pedernal y circuncidó a los hijos de Israel en la colina de Los Prepucios.

and Joshua maketh for him knives of flint, and circumciseth the sons of Israel at the height of the foreskins.

4 La causa por la cual Josué los circuncidó fue que el pueblo que salió de Egipto, los varones, todos los guerreros, murieron por el camino en el desierto después que salieron de Egipto.

And this [is] the thing [for] which Joshua circumciseth [them]: all the people who are coming out of Egypt, who are males, all the men of war have died in the wilderness, in the way, in their coming out of Egypt,

5 Aunque todos los del pueblo que salieron estaban circuncidados, todos los del pueblo que nacieron por el camino después que salieron de Egipto, no fueron circuncidados.

for all the people who are coming out were circumcised, and all the people who [are] born in the wilderness, in the way, in their coming out from Egypt, they have not circumcised;

6 Porque los hijos de Israel anduvieron por el desierto 40 años, hasta cuando todos los guerreros que salieron de Egipto fueron consumidos por no obedecer la voz de Yavé, por lo cual Yavé les juró que no los dejaría ver la tierra que Yavé prometió a sus antepasados que nos daría, tierra que fluye leche y miel.

for forty years have the sons of Israel gone in the wilderness, till all the nation of the men of war who are coming out of Egypt, who hearkened not to the voice of Jehovah, to whom Jehovah hath sworn not to show them the land which Jehovah sware to their fathers to give to us, a land flowing with milk and honey, are consumed;

7 Pero Josué circuncidó a los hijos de ellos que Él levantó en su lugar, porque no estaban circuncidados, pues no los circuncidaron en el camino.

and their sons He raised up in their stead, them hath Joshua circumcised, for they have been uncircumcised, for they have not circumcised them in the way.

8 Cuando terminaron de circuncidar a todo el pueblo, ellos permanecieron en sus lugares en el campamento hasta que fueron sanados.

And it cometh to pass when all the nation have completed to be circumcised, that they abide in their places in the camp till their recovering;

9 Entonces Yavé dijo a Josué: Hoy quité de ustedes el reproche de Egipto. El nombre de aquel lugar es Gilgal hasta hoy.

and Jehovah saith unto Joshua, 'To-day I have rolled the reproach of Egypt from off you;' and [one] calleth the name of that place Gilgal unto this day.

10 A los 14 días del mes, al llegar la noche, los hijos de Israel acamparon en Gilgal y celebraron la Pascua en las llanuras de Jericó.

And the sons of Israel encamp in Gilgal, and make the passover on the fourteenth day of the month, at evening, in the plains of Jericho;

11 A la mañana siguiente de la Pascua, aquel mismo día, comieron del producto de la tierra: panes sin levadura y grano tostado.

and they eat of the old corn of the land on the morrow of the passover, unleavened things and roasted [corn], in this self-same day;

12 Después que comieron del producto de la tierra, cesó el maná por la mañana. No hubo más maná para los hijos de Israel. Aquel mismo año comieron del fruto de la tierra de Canaán.

and the manna doth cease on the morrow in their eating of the old corn of the land, and there hath been no more manna to the sons of Israel, and they eat of the increase of the land of Canaan in that year.

13 Sucedió que cuando Josué estaba cerca de Jericó, levantó sus ojos y ciertamente vio a un varón en pie frente a él con su espada desenvainada en su mano. Josué fue hacia él y le dijo: ¿Eres de los nuestros o de nuestros adversarios?

And it cometh to pass in Joshua's being by Jericho, that he lifteth up his eyes, and looketh, and lo, one standing over-against him, and his drawn sword in his hand, and Joshua goeth unto him, and saith to him, 'Art thou for us or for our adversaries?'

14 Él dijo: No. Más bien ciertamente vengo ahora como Capitán de la hueste de Yavé. Y Josué se postró en tierra sobre su rostro y le dijo: ¿Qué dice mi ʼAdonay a su esclavo?

And He saith, 'No, for I [am] Prince of Jehovah's host; now I have come;' and Joshua falleth on his face to the earth, and doth obeisance, and saith to Him, 'What is my Lord speaking unto His servant?'

15 El Capitán de la hueste de Yavé respondió a Josué: Quita las sandalias de tus pies, porque el lugar donde estás es santo. Y Josué hizo esto.

And the Prince of Jehovah's host saith unto Joshua, 'Cast off thy shoe from off thy foot, for the place on which thou art standing is holy;' and Joshua doth so;
