Josué 17

1 Este fue el sorteo para la tribu de Manasés, por ser el primogénito de José. A Maquir, el primogénito de Manasés y padre de Galaad, le tocó en suerte Galaad y Basán, porque él era un varón de guerra.

This was the lot for the tribe of Manasseh, for he was the firstborn of Joseph. As for Makir the firstborn of Manasseh, the father of Gilead, because he was a man of war, therefore he had Gilead and Bashan.

2 También se echaron suertes para los otros hijos de Manasés según sus familias: para los hijos de Abiezer, de Helec, de Asriel, de Siquem, de Hefer y de Semida. Estos fueron los hijos varones de Manasés, hijo de José, según sus familias.

So this was for the rest of the descendants of Manasseh according to their families: for the descendants of Abiezer, for the descendants of Helek, for the descendants of Asriel, for the descendants of Shechem, for the descendants of Hepher, and for the descendants of Shemida: these were the male descendants of Manasseh the son of Joseph according to their families.

3 Pero Zelofehad, hijo de Hefer, hijo de Galaad, hijo de Maquir, hijo de Manasés, no tuvo hijos, sino hijas, cuyos nombres son Maala, Noa, Hogla, Milca, y Tirsa.

But Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Makir, the son of Manasseh, had no sons, but daughters: and these are the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

4 Éstas se presentaron delante del sacerdote Eleazar, de Josué, hijo de Nun, y de los jefes, y dijeron: Yavé ordenó a Moisés que nos diera herencia entre nuestros hermanos. Así fue como él nos dio una heredad entre los hermanos del padre de ellas, conforme a la Palabra de Yavé.

They came near before Eleazar the priest, and before Joshua the son of Nun, and before the leaders, saying, "The LORD commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our brothers." Therefore according to the commandment of the LORD he gave them an inheritance among the brothers of their father.

5 A Manasés le tocaron en suerte diez partes, además de la tierra de Galaad y de Basán, que está al otro lado del Jordán.

Ten parts fell to Manasseh, besides the land of Gilead and Bashan, which is beyond the Jordan;

6 Porque las hijas de Manasés obtuvieron herencia entre los hijos de él, y la tierra de Galaad correspondió al resto de los hijos de Manasés.

because the daughters of Manasseh had an inheritance among his sons. The land of Gilead belonged to the rest of the sons of Manasseh.

7 El límite de Manasés iba desde Aser hasta Micmetat, que estaba al este de Siquem. Luego el límite iba hacia el sur, hasta los habitantes de En-tapúa.

The border of Manasseh was from Asher to Michmethath, which is before Shechem. The border went along to the right hand to Jashub and to En Tappuah.

8 La tierra de Tapúa fue de Manasés, pero Tapúa, que estaba en el límite de Manasés, fue de los hijos de Efraín.

The land of Tappuah belonged to Manasseh; but Tappuah, on the border of Manasseh, belonged to the descendants of Ephraim.

9 El límite bajaba por el arroyo de Caná, hacia el sur del arroyo. Estas ciudades de Efraín están entre las ciudades de Manasés. El límite de Manasés estaba en el lado norte del arroyo, y terminaba en el mar.

The border went down to Wadi Kanah, southward of the wadi. These cities belonged to Ephraim among the cities of Manasseh. The border of Manasseh was on the north side of the wadi, and ended at the sea.

10 El lado sur era de Efraín y el lado norte de Manasés, y el mar era su límite. Por el norte se encontraba con Aser, y por el este, con Isacar.

Southward it was Ephraim's, and northward it was Manasseh's, and the sea was his border. They reached to Asher on the north, and to Issachar on the east.

11 En Isacar y en Aser, Manasés tenía Bet-seán y sus aldeas, Ibleam y sus aldeas, los habitantes de Dor y sus aldeas, los habitantes de Endor y sus aldeas, los habitantes de Taanac y sus aldeas, y los habitantes de Megido y sus aldeas, tres regiones montañosas.

And Manasseh had in Issachar and in Asher, Beth Shean and its towns, and Ibleam and its towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of Endor and its towns, and the inhabitants of Taanach and its towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns; three regions.

12 Pero los hijos de Manasés no pudieron echar a los habitantes de aquellas ciudades, por lo cual el cananeo persistió en vivir en aquella tierra.

Yet the descendants of Manasseh couldn't drive out the inhabitants of those cities; but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.

13 Sucedió que cuando los hijos de Israel fueron fuertes, sometieron a los cananeos a trabajo forzado, pero no los echaron completamente.

It happened, when the children of Israel had grown strong, that they put the Canaanites to forced labor, and did not utterly drive them out.

14 Entonces los hijos de José hablaron a Josué: ¿Por qué nos diste como herencia una sola suerte y una sola parte, aunque somos un pueblo numeroso, al cual Yavé bendijo de este modo?

The descendants of Joseph spoke to Joshua, saying, "Why have you given me just one lot and one part for an inheritance, since I am a great people, because the LORD has blessed me so far?"

15 Josué les respondió: Si ustedes son un pueblo numeroso, suban al bosque y desmonten allí en la tierra de los ferezeos y de los refaítas, ya que la región montañosa de Efraín es estrecha para ustedes.

Joshua said to them, "If you are a great people, go up to the forest, and clear land for yourself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the Rephaim; since the hill country of Ephraim is too narrow for you."

16 Pero los hijos de José le respondieron: No nos bastará esa región montañosa. Todos los cananeos que viven en la tierra del valle tienen carruajes de hierro, tanto los que están en Bet-seán y en sus aldeas, como los que están en el valle de Jezreel.

The descendants of Joseph said, "The hill country is not enough for us. All the Canaanites who dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both those who are in Beth Shean and its towns, and those who are in the Valley of Jezreel."

17 Entonces Josué respondió a la casa de José, Efraín y Manasés: Ustedes son un pueblo numeroso y tienen gran fuerza. No tendrán una sola parte,

Joshua spoke to the house of Joseph, even to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, "You are a great people, and have great power. You shall not have one lot only;

18 sino que la región montañosa será de ustedes, porque aunque es bosque, ustedes lo talarán y la poseerán hasta sus límites, porque desposeerán al cananeo, aunque tenga carruajes de hierro y sea fuerte.

but the hill country shall be yours. Although it is a forest, you shall cut it down, and its farthest extent shall be yours; for you shall drive out the Canaanites, though they have chariots of iron, and though they are strong."
