Josué 15
1 La parte que le tocó en suerte a la tribu de los hijos de Judá, según sus familias, iba hacia el límite de Edom, hacia el desierto de Zin al extremo sur.
This was the land allotted to the tribe of Judah, by families: it stretched south to the border of Edom, to the wilderness of Zin in the far south.
2 Su límite por el lado sur iba desde la costa del mar Salado, desde la bahía que mira hacia el sur,
Their boundary began at the end of the Salt Sea—the bay that faces south—
3 y seguía por el sur hacia la subida de Acrabim, pasaba hasta Zin, subía por el sur de Cades Barnea y pasaba por Hebrón, y después de subir por Adar, volvía a Carca.
and then went south of Scorpion Pass through the wilderness of Zin, then heading south from Kadesh-barnea to Hezron. From there it went up to Addar and then turned towards Karka,
4 De allí pasaba a Asmón y seguía hasta el arroyo de Egipto, y terminaba en el mar. Éste les será el límite del sur.
passing through Azmon and out to the Wadi of Egypt, ending at the sea. This was their southern border.
5 El límite oriental era el mar Salado hasta la desembocadura del Jordán. El límite del norte era desde la costa del mar en la desembocadura del Jordán,
The eastern border of Judah was the Salt Sea, up to where the Jordan River ends. The northern boundary ran from the northern bay of the sea where the Jordan ends
6 y el lindero subía a Bet-hogla, pasaba al norte de Bet-arabá y subía hasta la piedra de Bohán, hijo de Rubén.
up to the border of Beth-hoglath, and then north of Beth-arabah to the Stone of Bohan (Reuben's son).
7 El lindero subía después desde el valle de Acor hasta Debir, y por el norte volvía hacia Gilgal, que se encuentra frente a la subida de Adumim, situada al lado sur del valle. Después el límite pasaba por las aguas de En-semes, y terminaba en En-rogel.
From there it went to the border of Debir through the valley of Achor, and turned north towards Gilgal, opposite the heights of Adummim to the south of the valley. Then the boundary continued to the waters of En-shemesh and out to En-rogel.
8 El lindero subía por el valle del hijo de Hinom, en el lado sur de donde estaban los jebuseos, es decir, Jerusalén, y subía a la cumbre de la montaña que está delante del valle de Hinom hacia el occidente, en el extremo norte del valle de Refaim.
The boundary then went through the valley of Ben-hinnom, along the southern slopes of the Jebusites, (that is Jerusalem), then on up to the top of the mountain overlooking the valley of Hinnom right up to the northern end of the valley of Rephaim.
9 Desde la cumbre de la montaña el límite volvía hasta la fuente de las aguas de Neftoa, y salía a las ciudades de la montaña Efrón, luego rodeaba a Baala, la cual es Quiriat-jearim.
From there the boundary ran from the top of the mountain to the water spring at Nephtoah and on to the towns on Mount Ephron. Then it bent towards Ballah (Kiriath-jearim).
10 De Baala el límite giraba al occidente hasta la montaña Seír, y pasaba por la ladera de la montaña Jearim, por el norte, que es Quesalón, y descendía a Bet-semes, y pasaba a Timná.
Then the boundary moved around to the west of Baalah to Mount Seir and passed along the northern slope of Mount Jearim to the town of Kesalon, down to Beth Shemesh and on to Timnah.
11 Después la línea partía hacia la ladera de Ecrón, al norte, y giraba hacia Sicrón y después de pasar por la montaña Baala, salía a Jabneel, y el límite terminaba en el mar.
The boundary then ran to the north slope of Ekron, and bent towards Shikkeron, passing Mount Baalah, out to Jabneel, and ending at the sea.
12 El límite occidental era el mar Grande. Estos son los límites alrededor de los hijos de Judá, según sus familias.
The western boundary was the coastline of the Great Sea. These were the boundaries around the tribe of Judah, by families.
13 Pero a Caleb, hijo de Jefone, le dio su porción entre los hijos de Judá, conforme a la Palabra de Yavé [dada] a Josué, la ciudad de Arba, padre de Anac, la cual es Hebrón.
The Lord had instructed Joshua to allocate some land in Judah's territory to Caleb, son of Jephunneh, and so he was given the town of Kiriath-arba, or Hebron. (Arba was the father of Anak.)
14 Caleb echó de allí a tres de los hijos de Anac: a Sesai, Aimán y Talmai, descendientes de Anac.
Caleb drove out three family groups—Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, descendants of Anak.
15 De allí subió contra los habitantes de Debir. Antiguamente el nombre de Debir era Quiriat-séfer.
From there he went to attack the inhabitants of Debir (previously known as Kiriath-sepher).
16 Entonces Caleb dijo: Al que ataque a Quiriat-sefer, y la conquiste, le daré a mi hija Acsa como esposa.
Caleb announced, “Whoever attacks Kiriath-sepher and captures it, I will give him my daughter Acsah to marry.”
17 Otoniel, hijo de Cenaz, hermano de Caleb, la conquistó. Y él le dio como esposa a su hija Acsa.
Othniel, son of Kenaz, brother of Caleb, captured the town so Caleb gave him his daughter Acsah to marry.
18 Aconteció que cuando la llevaba, él la incitó a que pidiera a su padre un campo. Ella desmontó del asno, por lo cual Caleb le dijo: ¿Qué quieres?
When she came to him, she encouraged him to ask her father for a field. When she got off her donkey, Caleb asked her, “What do you want?”
19 Ella entonces respondió: Dame una bendición. Porque me diste una tierra de sequedal, dame también fuentes de agua. Y él le dio las fuentes de arriba y las fuentes de abajo.
She replied, “Please give me a blessing. Since you have already given me land that's like the desert, please give me springs of water as well.” So he gave her both the upper and the lower springs.
20 Esta es la heredad de la tribu de los hijos de Judá, según sus familias.

63 Pero los hijos de Judá no pudieron echar a los jebuseos que habitaban en Jerusalén. Así que los jebuseos viven con los hijos de Judá en Jerusalén hasta hoy.
However, the tribe of Judah could not drive out the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so the Jebusites live among the tribe of Judah in Jerusalem to this very day.
