Juan 9
1 Cuando pasaba, [Jesús] vio a un hombre ciego de nacimiento.
And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man who was blind from his birth.
2 Sus discípulos le preguntaron: Maestro, ¿quién pecó, éste o sus padres, para que naciera ciego?
And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who sinned, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
3 Jesús respondió: No pecó éste ni sus padres, sino [está ciego] para que las obras de Dios se manifiesten en él.
Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be revealed in him.
4 Mientras es día nos es necesario realizar las obras del que me envió. Viene [la] noche cuando nadie puede trabajar.
I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
5 Mientras [Yo] esté en el mundo, soy [la] Luz del mundo.
As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
6 Después de decir esto escupió en la tierra, hizo barro con la saliva, untó el barro sobre los ojos [del ciego]
When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
7 y le dijo: Vé, lávate en el estanque de Siloé, que significa enviado. [El ciego] fue, se lavó y cuando regresó veía.
And said to him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, ( which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went away therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
8 Los vecinos y los que antes veían que era un mendigo, decían: ¿No es éste el que se sentaba y mendigaba?
The neighbours therefore, and they who before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?
9 Otros decían: Éste es. Y otros: No, pero se le parece. Él decía: Soy yo.
Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.
10 Entonces le preguntaron: ¿Cómo te fueron abiertos los ojos?
Therefore they said to him, How were thy eyes opened?
11 Él respondió: El hombre que se llama Jesús hizo barro, me untó los ojos y me dijo: Vé al Siloé y lávate. Por tanto fui, me lavé y vi.
He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed my eyes, and said to me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.
12 Le preguntaron: ¿Dónde está Él? Contestó: No sé.
Then said they to him, Where is he? He said, I know not.
13 Entonces llevaron al que había sido ciego ante los fariseos,
They brought to the Pharisees him that before was blind.
14 porque el día cuando Jesús hizo barro y le abrió los ojos era sábado.
And it was the sabbath when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.
15 Otra vez los fariseos le preguntaron como vio. Y él les respondió: Me puso barro sobre los ojos, me lavé y veo.
Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said to them, He put clay upon my eyes, and I washed, and do see.
16 Entonces algunos de los fariseos decían: Este hombre no es de Dios, porque no guarda el sábado. Otros preguntaban: ¿Cómo puede un hombre pecador hacer señales como éstas? Y había división entre ellos.
Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not from God, because he keepeth not the sabbath. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.
17 Volvieron a preguntar al que había sido ciego: ¿Tú qué dices del que te abrió los ojos? Él respondió: Que es profeta.
They say to the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thy eyes? He said, He is a prophet.
18 Pero los judíos no creyeron que él había sido ciego y que vio. Por tanto llamaron a los padres del que vio
But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.
19 y les preguntaron: ¿Éste es su hijo de quien ustedes dicen que nació ciego? ¿Cómo ve ahora?
And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see?
20 Entonces sus padres respondieron: Sabemos que éste es nuestro hijo y que nació ciego.
His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:
21 Pero cómo ve ahora, no lo sabemos. Quién le abrió los ojos, no lo sabemos. Pregúntenle, tiene edad. Él hablará por él mismo.
But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.
22 Sus padres dijeron esto porque temían a los judíos, pues estos ya habían acordado que si alguno lo confesaba como el Cristo, fuera expulsado de la congregación.
These words his parents spoke, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man confessed that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.
23 Por esto sus padres dijeron: Tiene edad, pregúntenle.
Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.
24 Llamaron por segunda vez al hombre que había sido ciego, y le dijeron: ¡Da gloria a Dios! Nosotros sabemos que este hombre es pecador.
Then again they called the man that was blind, and said to him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.
25 Entonces él respondió: Si es pecador, no lo sé. Una cosa sé: Que yo era ciego y ahora veo.
He answered and said, Whether he is a sinner, I know not: one thing I know, that, though I was blind, now I see.
26 Insistieron: ¿Qué te hizo? ¿Cómo te abrió los ojos?
Then they said to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thy eyes?
27 Les respondió: Ya les dije y no escucharon. ¿Por qué quieren oír otra vez? ¿También ustedes quieren ser sus discípulos?
He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: Why would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples?
28 Lo insultaron: ¡Tú eres discípulo de Él, pero nosotros somos discípulos de Moisés!
Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses’ disciples.
29 Nosotros sabemos que Dios [le] habló a Moisés, pero no sabemos de dónde es Éste.
We know that God spoke to Moses: as for this man, we know not where he is from.
30 El hombre respondió: Lo asombroso es que ustedes no sepan de dónde es, y a mí me abrió los ojos.
The man answered and said to them, Why here is a marvellous thing, that ye know not where he is from, and yet he hath opened my eyes.
31 Sabemos que Dios no oye a pecadores, pero sí oye a quien es temeroso de Él y hace su voluntad.
Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man is a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
Since the world began hath it not been heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind. (aiōn g165)
33 Si Éste no viniera de Dios, nada podría hacer.
If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.
34 [Ellos] respondieron: Tú naciste completamente en pecados, ¿y nos enseñas? Y lo expulsaron de la congregación.
They answered and said to him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
35 Jesús oyó que lo expulsaron, y cuando lo halló le preguntó: ¿Crees tú en el Hijo del Hombre?
Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said to him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?
36 Él respondió: ¿Quién es, Señor, para que crea en Él?
He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I may believe on him?
37 Jesús le contestó: No solo lo viste. Es el que habla contigo.
And Jesus said to him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.
38 Y él dijo: Creo, Señor. Y lo adoró.
And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
39 Jesús dijo: Yo vine a este mundo para juicio, a fin de que los que no ven, vean, y los que ven, sean cegados.
And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they who see not may see; and that they who see may be made blind.
40 [Algunos] fariseos que estaban con Él oyeron esto y le preguntaron: ¿Nosotros también somos ciegos?
And some of the Pharisees who were with him heard these words, and said to him, Are we blind also?
41 Jesús les respondió: Si fueran ciegos, no tendrían pecado. Pero ahora [porque] dicen que ven, su pecado permanece.
Jesus said to them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
