Juan 16

1 Estas cosas les he hablado para que no tengan tropiezo.

These things have I spoken to you, that you may not be scandalized.

2 Los expulsarán de las congregaciones, y aun viene [la] hora cuando cualquiera que los mate, piense que ofrece servicio a Dios.

They will put you out of the synagogues: yea, the hour cometh, that whosoever killeth you, will think that he doth a service to God.

3 Harán esto porque no conocieron al Padre ni a Mí.

And these things will they do to you; because they have not known the Father, nor me.

4 Les he dicho esto para que cuando les llegue su hora, recuerden que Yo se lo dije. No les dije esto desde el principio porque [Yo] estaba con ustedes.

But these things I have told you, that when the hour shall come, you may remember that I told you of them.

5 Pero ahora voy a Quien me envió, y ninguno de ustedes me pregunta: ¿A dónde vas?

But I told you not these things from the beginning, because I was with you. And now I go to him that sent me, and none of you asketh me: Whither goest thou?

6 Porque les he hablado estas cosas, la tristeza llenó su corazón.

But because I have spoken these things to you, sorrow hath filled your heart.

7 Pero Yo les digo la verdad: Les conviene que Yo vaya, porque si no voy, el Intercesor no vendrá a ustedes. Pero si voy, lo enviaré.

But I tell you the truth: it is expedient to you that I go: for if I go not, the Paraclete will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.

8 Cuando Él venga, convencerá al mundo de pecado, de justicia y de juicio:

And when he is come, he will convince the world of sin, and of justice, and of judgment.

9 de pecado, porque no creen en Mí,

Of sin: because they believed not in me.

10 de justicia, porque voy al Padre y ustedes no Me verán más,

And of justice: because I go to the Father; and you shall see me no longer.

11 y de juicio, porque el príncipe de este mundo ha sido juzgado.

And of judgment: because the prince of this world is already judged.

12 Aún tengo muchas cosas que decirles, pero ahora no pueden soportarlas.

I have yet many things to say to you: but you cannot bear them now.

13 Cuando el Espíritu de la verdad venga los guiará a toda la verdad. Porque no hablará por iniciativa propia, sino hablará todo lo que oirá y les proclamará las cosas que vienen.

But when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will teach you all truth. For he shall not speak of himself; but what things soever he shall hear, he shall speak; and the things that are to come, he shall shew you.

14 Él me glorificará porque tomará de lo mío y se lo hará saber.

He shall glorify me; because he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it to you.

15 Todo cuanto tiene el Padre es mío. Por eso dije que toma de lo mío y se lo hará saber.

All things whatsoever the Father hath, are mine. Therefore I said, that he shall receive of mine, and shew it to you.

16 Dentro de poco tiempo ya no me verán, y un poco más tarde me volverán a ver.

A little while, and now you shall not see me; and again a little while, and you shall see me: because I go to the Father.

17 Entonces sus discípulos se dijeron: ¿Qué es esto que nos dice: Dentro de poco tiempo ya no me verán, y un poco más tarde me volverán a ver porque voy al Padre?

Then some of the disciples said one to another: What is this that he saith to us: A little while, and you shall not see me; and again a little while, and you shall see me, and, because I go to the Father?

18 Se preguntaban qué era eso, pues no entendían lo que Jesús decía.

They said therefore: What is this that he saith, A little while? we know not what he speaketh.

19 Jesús comprendió que querían saber mejor y les preguntó: ¿Se preguntan unos a otros acerca de lo que dije: Dentro de poco [tiempo] ya no me verán, y un poco más tarde me volverán a ver?

And Jesus knew that they had a mind to ask him; and he said to them: Of this do you inquire among yourselves, because I said: A little while, and you shall not see me; and again a little while, and you shall see me?

20 En verdad, en verdad les digo que ustedes llorarán y lamentarán, y el mundo se regocijará. Ustedes se entristecerán, pero su tristeza se convertirá en gozo.

Amen, amen I say to you, that you shall lament and weep, but the world shall rejoice; and you shall be made sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.

21 Cuando la mujer da a luz tiene dolor, porque llegó su hora. Pero cuando da a luz al hijo, ya no recuerda la angustia por el gozo del nacimiento de un ser humano.

A woman, when she is in labour, hath sorrow, because her hour is come; but when she hath brought forth the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.

22 Ahora ustedes también están tristes, pero los veré otra vez. Ustedes gozarán, y nadie les quitará su gozo.

So also you now indeed have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice; and your joy no man shall take from you.

23 Aquel día nada me preguntarán. En verdad, en verdad les digo, que el Padre les dará todo lo que pidan en mi Nombre.

And in that day you shall not ask me any thing. Amen, amen I say to you: if you ask the Father any thing in my name, he will give it you.

24 Hasta ahora nada pidieron en mi Nombre. Pidan y recibirán, para que su gozo sea completado.

Hitherto you have not asked any thing in my name. Ask, and you shall receive; that your joy may be full.

25 Estas cosas les he hablado en alegorías. Viene una hora cuando ya no les hablaré en alegorías, sino claramente les anunciaré con respecto al Padre.

These things I have spoken to you in proverbs. The hour cometh, when I will no more speak to you in proverbs, but will shew you plainly of the Father.

26 Aquel día pedirán en mi Nombre. No les digo que Yo rogaré al Padre por ustedes,

In that day you shall ask in my name; and I say not to you, that I will ask the Father for you:

27 porque el mismo Padre los ama, pues ustedes me han amado y han creído que Yo descendí de Dios.

For the Father himself loveth you, because you have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.

28 Salí del Padre y vine al mundo. De nuevo, dejo el mundo y voy al Padre.

I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again I leave the world, and I go to the Father.

29 Sus discípulos le dijeron: En verdad ahora hablas con claridad y no usas alegoría.

His disciples say to him: Behold, now thou speakest plainly, and speakest no proverb.

30 Entendemos que sabes todas las cosas y no necesitas que alguien te pregunte. Por esto creemos que saliste de Dios.

Now we know that thou knowest all things, and thou needest not that any man should ask thee. By this we believe that thou camest forth from God.

31 Jesús les preguntó: ¿Ahora creen?

Jesus answered them: Do you now believe?

32 Ciertamente llegó la hora cuando serán esparcidos cada uno por su lado y me dejarán solo. Aunque no estoy solo, porque el Padre está conmigo.

Behold, the hour cometh, and it is now come, that you shall be scattered every man to his own, and shall leave me alone; and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

33 Les he dicho esto para que en Mí tengan paz. En el mundo tienen aflicción, pero ¡tengan ánimo! Yo he vencido al mundo.

These things I have spoken to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you shall have distress: but have confidence, I have overcome the world.
