1 Seis días antes de la Pascua Jesús fue a Betania, a la casa de Lázaro, a quien había resucitado.
Jesus, therefore, six days before the passover, came unto Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from among the dead.
2 Allí le prepararon una cena. Marta servía y Lázaro era uno de los reclinados con Él.
So they made for him a supper, there; and, Martha, was ministering, but, Lazarus, was one of them who were reclining with him.
3 María tomó una libra de perfume de nardo puro de mucho valor, ungió los pies de Jesús y los secó con sus cabellos. La casa se llenó con la fragancia del perfume.
Mary, therefore, taking a pound of pure nard perfume, very precious, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped, with her hair, his feet; and, the house, was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
4 Pero Judas Iscariote, uno de sus discípulos, el que iba a traicionarlo, preguntó:
[But] Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples, he that was about to deliver him up, saith—
5 ¿Por qué no se vendió este perfume por 300 denarios para dar a [los ]pobres?
Why was, this perfume, not sold for three hundred denaries, and given unto the destitute?
6 Pero dijo esto, no porque le importaban los pobres, sino porque era ladrón, y como tenía la bolsa, robaba lo que se echaba [en ella].
Howbeit he said this, not that, for the destitute, he cared, but because, a thief, he was, and holding, the bag, used to carry away, what was cast therein.
7 Entonces Jesús [le] dijo: Déjala, lo guardaba para el día de preparación para mi sepultura.
Jesus, therefore, said—Let her alone, that, for the day of my burial, she may observe it;
8 Siempre tienen a los pobres con ustedes, pero a Mí no me tienen siempre.
For, the destitute, always, have ye with you, whereas, me, not always, have ye.
9 Muchos judíos supieron que estaba allí, y fueron, no solo para ver a Jesús, sino también a Lázaro a quien había resucitado.
The great multitude of the Jews, therefore, got to know that he was, there, and came, not on account of Jesus only, but that, Lazarus also, they might see, whom he had raised from among the dead.
10 Pero los principales sacerdotes hicieron un complot para matar también a Lázaro,
But the High-priests took counsel, that Lazarus also, they might put to death;
11 porque por causa de él, muchos judíos iban y creían en Jesús.
because, many of the Jews, by reason of him, were withdrawing, and believing on Jesus.
12 Al día siguiente, cuando oyeron que Jesús iba a Jerusalén, la gran multitud que acudió a la fiesta,
On the morrow, the great multitude that had come unto the feast, hearing that Jesus was coming into Jerusalem,
13 tomaron ramas de palmera y salieron a recibirlo. Clamaban: ¡Hosanna! ¡Bendito el que viene en el Nombre del Señor, el Rey de Israel!
took the branches of the palm trees, and went out to meet him, and began crying aloud—Hosanna! Blessed is he that is coming in the name of the Lord, —even the King of Israel!
14 Jesús halló un pollino y [se] montó sobre él, como está escrito:
And Jesus, finding a young ass, took his seat thereon, just as it is written—
15 No temas, hija de Sion. Mira, tu Rey viene montado en un pollino de asna.
Do not fear, O daughter of Zion! Lo! thy king, cometh, sitting upon the colt of an ass.
16 Al principio sus discípulos no entendieron esto, pero cuando Jesús fue glorificado, recordaron que esto estaba escrito con respecto a Él y que así le hicieron.
These things, his disciples noticed not, at the first; but, when Jesus was glorified, then, remembered they that, these things, had, for him, been written, —and that, these things, they had done unto him.
17 La multitud que estaba con Él daba testimonio de cómo resucitó a Lázaro.
The multitude, therefore, that was with him when he called, Lazarus, out of the tomb, and raised him from among the dead, was bearing witness.
18 Por esto la multitud salió a recibirlo, porque oyeron que Él hizo esta señal.
On this account, the multitude met him also, because they heard that he had done, this sign.
19 Por tanto los fariseos se dijeron: ¿Ustedes ven que así nada logran? ¡Miren, todos se van tras Él!
the Pharisees, therefore, said among themselves—Ye observe that ye are profiting nothing: See! the world, after him, hath gone away.
20 Entre los que subían a adorar en la fiesta había algunos griegos.
Now there were certain Greeks, from among them who were coming up that they might worship in the feast.
21 Éstos se acercaron a Felipe, quien era de Betsaida de Galilea, y le rogaban: Señor, deseamos ver a Jesús.
These, therefore, came unto Philip, him who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, —and were requesting him, saying—Sir! We desire to see, Jesus.
22 Felipe fue y se lo comentó a Andrés, y los dos se lo dijeron a Jesús.
Philip cometh, and telleth Andrew: Andrew and Philip come, and tell Jesus.
23 Jesús les respondió: Llegó la hora para que el Hijo del Hombre sea glorificado.
But, Jesus, answereth them, saying—The hour hath come, that the Son of Man should be glorified!
24 En verdad, en verdad les digo: Si el grano de trigo que cayó en la tierra no muere, permanece él solo, pero si muere, produce mucho fruto.
Verily! Verily, I say unto you: Except, the kernel of wheat, shall fall into the ground, and die, it, alone, abideth; but, if it die, much fruit, it beareth.
25 El que ama su vida, la pierde. El que aborrece su vida en este mundo, la guardará para vida eterna. (aiōnios g166)
He that loveth his life, loseth it; but, he that hateth his life, in this world, unto life age-abiding, shall guard it. (aiōnios g166)
26 Si alguno me sirve, sígame. Donde Yo estoy, allí también estará mi servidor. Si alguno me sirve, mi Padre lo honrará.
If, with me, anyone be ministering, with me, let him be following; and, where, I, am, there, my minister also, shall be. If anyone, with me, be ministering, the Father, will honour him.
27 Ahora mi alma está turbada. ¿Y qué digo? ¿Padre, sálvame de esta hora? Pero para esto llegué a esta hora.
Now, is my soul troubled, —and what can I say? Father! save me from this hour? But, on this account, came I unto this hour. Father, glorify thy name!
28 ¡Padre, glorifica tu Nombre! Entonces vino una voz del cielo: ¡Lo he glorificado y volveré a glorificarlo!
There came, therefore, a voice out of heaven—I both have glorified it, and will glorify it again.
29 La multitud presente que escuchó, decía que fue un trueno. Otros decían que un ángel le habló.
[So], the multitude that was standing by, and heard it, were saying—It hath, thundered. Others, were saying—A messenger, unto him, hath spoken.
30 Jesús dijo: Esta voz no vino por causa de Mí, sino por causa de ustedes.
Jesus answered, and said—Not for my sake, hath this voice come, but, for your sake.
31 Ahora es [el] juicio de este mundo. El príncipe de este mundo será echado fuera.
Now, is there, a judging, of this world, —Now, the ruler of this world, shall be cast out;
32 Cuando Yo sea levantado en la tierra, a todos atraeré a Mí mismo.
And, I, if I be lifted up out of the earth, will draw, all, unto myself.
33 Decía esto para dar a entender de qué manera iba a morir.
But, this, he was saying, signifying, by what manner of death, he was about to die.
34 Entonces la gente le respondió: Por la Ley sabemos que el Cristo permanece para siempre. ¿Cómo dices Tú que es necesario que el Hijo del Hombre sea levantado? ¿Quién es este Hijo del Hombre? (aiōn g165)
The multitude, therefore, answered him—We, have heard, out of the law, that, the Christ, abideth evermore; How then dost, thou, say, —It behoveth the Son of Man to be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man? (aiōn g165)
35 Jesús les respondió: La Luz está entre ustedes aún por poco tiempo. Anden mientras tienen la Luz, para que no los sorprenda [la] oscuridad, porque el que anda en la oscuridad no sabe a dónde va.
Jesus, therefore, said unto them—Yet a little while, the light, is, among you: Walk, while ye have, the light, lest, darkness, on you should lay hold; and, he that walketh in darkness, knoweth not whither he drifteth.
36 Mientras tengan la Luz, crean en la Luz, para que sean hijos de Luz. Jesús habló esto, salió y se ocultó de ellos.
While, the light, ye have, believe on the light, that, sons of light, ye may become. These things, spake Jesus, —and, departing, was hid from them.
37 Aunque [Jesús] hizo tan grandes señales delante de ellos, no creían en Él,
And, although such signs, as these, he had done before them, they were not believing on him: —
38 para que se cumpliera la Palabra del profeta Isaías: Señor, ¿quién creyó nuestro anuncio? ¿Y a quién se reveló el brazo del Señor?
that, the word of Isaiah the prophet, might be fulfilled, which said—Lord! who believed, what we have heard? And, the arm of the Lord, to whom, was it revealed?
39 Por esto no podían creer, como Isaías dijo en otra ocasión:
On this account, they could not believe, because, again, said Isaiah—
40 Cegó los ojos de ellos, y endureció su corazón para que no miren con los ojos, ni entiendan con el corazón, y se conviertan, y Yo los sane.
He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; lest they should see with their eyes, and should understand with their heart, and should turn, —and I should heal them.
41 Isaías dijo esto porque vio la gloria de Él, y habló acerca de Él.
These things, said Isaiah, because he saw his glory, and spake concerning him.
42 Sin embargo, muchos magistrados creyeron en Él, pero por causa de los fariseos no confesaban para no ser expulsados de la congregación judía,
Nevertheless, however, even from among the rulers, many believed on him; but, because of the Pharisees, they were not confessing him, lest, excommunicants from the synagogue, they should be made;
43 porque amaban más el esplendor de los hombres que la gloria de Dios.
for they loved the glory of men, more than the glory of God.
44 Entonces Jesús dijo: El que cree en Mí, no cree en Mí, sino en el que me envió.
And, Jesus, cried aloud, and said—He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me;
45 El que me ve, ve al que me envió.
And, he that vieweth me, vieweth him that sent me.
46 Yo, [la] Luz, vine al mundo para que todo el que cree en Mí no permanezca en la oscuridad.
I, a light, into the world have come, that, no one who believeth on me, in darkness, should abide.
47 Si alguno oye mis Palabras y no las guarda, Yo no lo juzgo, porque no vine a juzgar al mundo, sino a salvarlo.
And, if anyone shall hearken unto my sayings, and not guard them, I, am not judging him; for I came not that I might judge the world, but that I might save the world.
48 El que me rechaza y no recibe mis Palabras tiene quien lo juzgue. La Palabra que hablé es la que lo juzgará en el día final.
He that setteth me aside, and receiveth not my sayings, hath that which is to judge him: The word that I spake, that, will judge him, in the last day.
49 Porque Yo no hablé por iniciativa propia, sino el Padre Quien me envió me dio Mandamiento: Qué decir y qué hablar.
Because, I, out of myself, spake not, but, the Father who sent me, hath, himself, given me commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
