Joel 2

1 ¡Toquen trompeta en Sion! ¡Suene alarma en mi Montaña Santa! ¡Tiemblen todos los habitantes de la tierra! Porque viene el día de Yavé. Ciertamente está cerca.

Blowe the trumpet in Zion, and shoute in mine holy mountaine: let all the inhabitants of the lande tremble: for the day of the Lord is come: for it is at hand.

2 Día de oscuridad y de falta de luz, como negrura que se extiende sobre las montañas. Es un pueblo grande y poderoso. Nunca hubo algo igual, ni lo habrá en los años de muchas generaciones.

A day of darkenesse, and of blacknesse, a day of cloudes, and obscuritie, as the morning spred vpon the mountaines, so is there a great people, and a mighty: there was none like it from the beginning, neither shalbe any more after it, vnto the yeeres of many generations.

3 Un fuego devora delante de él. Tras él quema la llama. Como un jardín de Edén era la tierra antes de ellos, pero será un desolado desierto después de ellos y nada en absoluto se les escapa.

A fire deuoureth before him, and behinde him a flame burneth vp: the land is as the garden of Eden before him, and behinde him a desolate wildernesse, so that nothing shall escape him.

4 Su apariencia tiene aspecto de corceles, de jinetes que galopan.

The beholding of him is like the sight of horses, and like the horsemen, so shall they runne.

5 Con un estrépito de carruajes brincan en las cumbres de las montañas. Con el chasquido de llamas de fuego devoran la hojarasca, como pueblo poderoso dispuesto para la batalla.

Like the noyse of charrets in the toppes of the mountaines shall they leape, like the noyse of a flame of fire that deuoureth the stubble, and as a mightie people prepared to the battel.

6 Los pueblos tiemblan delante de él, palidecen todos los semblantes.

Before his face shall the people tremble: all faces shall gather blackenesse.

7 Corren cual valientes, escalan el muro como guerreros, cada cual marcha en su fila y no abandona su rumbo.

They shall runne like strong men, and goe vp to the wall like men of warre, and euery man shall goe forward in his wayes, and they shall not stay in their paths.

8 No se estorban unos a otros, cada cual marcha por su camino. Cuando irrumpen a través de las defensas no rompen filas.

Neither shall one thrust another, but euery one shall walke in his path: and when they fall vpon the sword, they shall not be wounded.

9 Asaltan la ciudad, escalan el muro, suben a las casas, y como ladrones, penetran por las ventanas.

They shall runne to and from in the citie: they shall runne vpon the wall: they shall clime vp vpon the houses, and enter in at ye windowes like ye thiefe.

10 Delante de ellos tiembla la tierra y se estremecen los cielos, el sol y la luna se oscurecen y las estrellas retiran su fulgor.

The earth shall tremble before him, ye heauens shall shake, the sunne and the moone shalbe darke, and the starres shall withdraw their shining,

11 Yavé da su voz ante su ejército. Su campamento es muy grande, poderoso el que ejecuta su Palabra. ¡Porque grande y terrible es el día de Yavé! ¿Quién lo podrá soportar?

And the Lord shall vtter his voyce before his hoste: for his hoste is very great: for he is strog that doeth his word: for the day of the Lord is great and very terrible, and who can abide it?

12 Pero aun ahora, Yavé dice: ¡Regresen a Mí de todo corazón, con ayuno, llanto y lamento!

Therefore also now the Lord sayth, Turne you vnto me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning,

13 Rasguen su corazón, y no sus ropas. Regresen a Yavé su ʼElohim, Quien es clemente y compasivo, lento para la ira y grande en misericordia, y se duele del castigo.

And rent your heart, and not your clothes: and turne vnto the Lord your God, for he is gratious, and mercifull, slowe to anger, and of great kindnes, and repenteth him of the euill.

14 Quizás se vuelva, se conduela, y a su paso deje una bendición, [es decir], una ofrenda vegetal y una libación para Yavé, el ʼElohim de ustedes.

Who knoweth, is he wil returne and repent and leaue a blessing behinde him, euen a meate offring, and a drinke offring vnto ye Lord your God?

15 ¡Toquen trompeta en Sion, proclamen ayuno! ¡Convoquen asamblea,

Blowe the trumpet in Zion, sanctifie a fast, call a solemne assembly.

16 congreguen al pueblo, santifiquen la asamblea, reúnan a los ancianos, reúnan a los niños y a los bebés! ¡Salga el novio de su habitación, y la novia de su tálamo!

Gather the people: sanctifie the congregation, gather the elders: assemble the children, and those that sucke the breastes: let the bridegrome go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her bride chamber.

17 ¡Lloren los sacerdotes entre la entrada y el altar! Y digan los ministros de Yavé: Oh Yavé, perdona a tu pueblo. No entregues tu heredad al oprobio, a la burla entre los gentiles. ¿Por qué se dirá entre los pueblos: Dónde está su ʼElohim?

Let the Priestes, the ministers of the Lord weepe betweene the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O Lord, and giue not thine heritage into reproche that the heathen should rule ouer them. Wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?

18 Entonces Yavé se llenará de celo por su tierra y de compasión por su pueblo.

Then will the Lord be ielous ouer his land, and spare his people.

19 Yavé responderá y dirá a su pueblo: Miren, Yo les envío trigo, vino y aceite. Serán saciados con ellos. Y nunca más los pondré como oprobio de las naciones.

Yea, the Lord wil answere and say vnto his people, Beholde, I will send you corne, and wine, and oyle, and you shalbe satisfied therewith: and I will no more make you a reproche among the heathen,

20 Alejaré de ustedes al del norte, lo dispersaré por tierra seca y desolada. Su vanguardia estará hacia el mar oriental, y su retaguardia hacia el mar occidental. Se esparcirá su hediondez, y se extenderá su pestilencia, porque hizo grandes cosas.

But I will remooue farre off from you the Northren armie, and I will driue him into a land, barren and desolate with his face toward the East sea, and his end to the vtmost sea, and his stinke shall come vp, and his corruption shall ascend, because he hath exalted himselfe to do this.

21 ¡Regocíjate y alégrate, oh tierra, y no temas, porque Yavé hizo proezas!

Feare not, O land, but be glad, and reioyce: for the Lord wil do great things.

22 No teman, animales del campo, porque los pastos del desierto germinarán, porque el árbol dará su fruto, y la vid y la higuera producirán abundante fruto.

Be not afrayde, ye beastes of the fielde: for the pastures of the wildernesse are greene: for the tree beareth her fruite: the figge tree and the vine do giue their force.

23 ¡Alégrense, oh hijos de Sion y regocíjense en Yavé su ʼElohim! Porque en su justicia les da la lluvia, la temprana y la tardía como antes.

Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and reioyce in the Lord your God: for he hath giuen you the rayne of righteousnes, he wil cause to come downe for you the rayne, euen the first raine, and the latter raine in the first moneth.

24 Las eras se llenarán de trigo, los lagares rebosarán de vino nuevo y aceite.

And the barnes shalbe full of wheate, and the presses shall abound with wine and oyle.

25 Les restituiré los años que devoraron el saltón, el saltamontes, el cigarrón y la langosta, mi gran ejército que envié contra ustedes.

And I will render you the yeeres that the grashopper hath eaten, the canker worme and the caterpiller and the palmer worme, my great hoste which I sent among you.

26 Comerán en abundancia, se saciarán y alabarán el Nombre de Yavé su ʼElohim, porque hizo prodigios por ustedes. Nunca más mi pueblo será avergonzado.

So you shall eate and be satisfied and praise the Name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt marueilously with you: and my people shall neuer be ashamed.

27 Sabrán que Yo estoy en medio de Israel, que Yo soy Yavé su ʼElohim y que no hay algún otro. Mi pueblo nunca más será avergonzado.

Ye shall also know, that I am in the middes of Israel, and that I am the Lord your God and none other, and my people shall neuer be ashamed.

28 Después de esto derramaré mi Espíritu sobre todo ser humano. Sus hijos y sus hijas profetizarán, sus ancianos tendrán sueños y sus jóvenes tendrán visiones.

And afterward will I powre out my Spirit vpon all flesh: and your sonnes and your daughters shall prophecie: your olde men shall dreame dreames, and your yong men shall see visions,

29 También sobre los esclavos y las esclavas derramaré mi Espíritu en aquellos días.

And also vpon the seruants, and vpon the maydes in those dayes wil I powre my Spirit.

30 Haré prodigios en los cielos y en la tierra, sangre, fuego y columnas de humo.

And I will shewe wonders in the heauens and in the earth: blood and fire, and pillars of smoke.

31 El sol se convertirá en tinieblas y la luna en sangre, antes que llegue el día grande y terrible de Yavé.

The sunne shalbe turned into darkenesse, and the moone into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come.

32 Sucederá que todo el que invoque el nombre de Yavé será salvo, porque en la Montaña Sion y en Jerusalén quedará un remanente, según dijo Yavé. Y entre los supervivientes estarán los que Yavé llamó.

But whosoeuer shall call on the Name of the Lord, shalbe saued: for in mount Zion, and in Ierusale shalbe deliuerance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant, whom the Lord shall call.
