Job 41
1 ¿Puedes tú sacar con un anzuelo el cocodrilo, atar con una cuerda su lengua?
Canst thou draw out the leviathan with a hook, or canst thou tie his tongue with a cord?
2 ¿Pondrás una soga en su nariz, y perforarás con garfio su quijada?
Canst thou put a ring in his nose, or bore through his jaw with a buckle?
3 ¿Se acercará a ti con palabras sumisas o te hablará con lisonjas?
Will he make many supplications to thee, or speak soft words to thee?
4 ¿Hará un pacto contigo para que lo tomes como esclavo perpetuo?
Will he make a covenant with thee, and wilt thou take him to be a servant for ever?
5 ¿Jugarás con él como con un pájaro? ¿Lo atarás para entretener a tus niñas?
Shalt thou play with him as with a bird, or tie him up for thy handmaids?
6 ¿Los comerciantes harán negocio por él? ¿Lo cortarán en trozos entre los mercaderes?
Shall friends cut him in pieces, shall merchants divide him?
7 ¿Podrás abrirle el cuero con lancetas, o su cabeza con arpones?
Wilt thou fill nets with his skin, and the cabins of fishes with his head?
8 Pon tu mano sobre él. Recuerda la batalla con él. No lo volverás a hacer.
Lay thy hand upon him: remember the battle, and speak no more.
9 Ciertamente la esperanza de esta pelea queda frustrada. Un hombre desfallece con solo verlo.
Behold his hope shall fail him, and in the sight of all he shall be cast down.
10 Nadie se atreve a despertarlo. ¿Entonces quién puede estar en pie delante de Mí?
I will not stir him up, like one that is cruel: for who can resist my countenance?
11 ¿Quién me dio primero a Mí, para que Yo le restituya? Todo lo que hay debajo del cielo es mío.
Who hath given me before that I should repay him? All things that are under heaven are mine.
12 No guardaré silencio acerca de sus miembros, ni de su gran fuerza ni de su excelente figura.
I will not spare him, nor his mighty words, and framed to make supplication.
13 ¿Quién levanta la primera capa de su envoltura y penetra a través de su doble coraza?
Who can discover the face of his garment? or who can go into the midst of his mouth?
14 ¿Quién abre la parte posterior de su boca rodeada de dientes espantosos?
Who can open the doors of his face? his teeth are terrible round about.
15 Sus fuertes escamas son su orgullo, cerradas entre sí como firme sello,
His body is like molten shields, shut close up with scales pressing upon one another.
16 tan unidas la una con la otra que ni el aire pasa entre ellas.
One is joined to another, and not so much as any air can come between them:
17 Están soldadas, cada una a su vecina, trabadas entre sí, no se pueden separar.
They stick one to another and they hold one another fast, and shall not be separated.
18 Su estornudo lanza destellos de luz. Sus ojos son como los párpados de la aurora.
His sneezing is like the shining of fire, and his eyes like the eyelids of the morning.
19 De la parte posterior de su boca salen llamaradas y se escapan centellas de fuego.
Out of his mouth go forth lamps, like torches of lighted fire.
20 De sus fosas nasales sale vapor como el de una olla que hierve al fuego.
Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, like that of a pot heated and boiling.
21 Su aliento enciende los carbones. Salen llamaradas de las partes posteriores de su boca.
His breath kindleth coals, and a flame cometh forth out of his mouth.
22 En su nuca se asienta la fuerza. Ante él cunde el terror.
In his neck strength shall dwell, and want goeth before his face.
23 Los pliegues de su carne son compactos. Están firmes en él y no se mueven.
The members of his flesh cleave one to another: he shall send lightnings against him, and they shall not be carried to another place.
24 Su corazón es duro como la piedra, como la piedra inferior de un molino.
His heart shall be as hard as a stone, and as firm as a smith’s anvil.
25 Cuando se levanta, tiemblan los valientes, y por el quebrantamiento, retroceden.
When he shall raise him up, the angels shall fear, and being affrighted shall purify themselves.
26 La espada no lo alcanza, ni la lanza, ni la lanceta, ni la flecha, ni la lanza arrojadiza.
When a sword shall lay at him, it shall not be able to hold, nor a spear, nor a breastplate.
27 Para él el hierro es como pasto, y el bronce, madera carcomida.
For he shall esteem iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood.
28 No lo ahuyentan las flechas. Las piedras de la honda le son como rastrojo.
The archer shall not put him to flight, the stones of the sling are to him like stubble.
29 Los garrotes le son como hojarasca. Se burla del brillo del arma arrojadiza.
As stubble will he esteem the hammer, and he will laugh him to scorn who shaketh the spear.
30 Por debajo tiene conchas puntiagudas, se extiende como un trillo sobre el lodo.
The beams of the sun shall be under him, and he shall strew gold under him like mire.
31 Hace lo profundo del mar hervir como una olla. Lo convierte como una olla de ungüento.
He shall make the deep sea to boil like a pot, and shall make it as when ointments boil.
32 Detrás de él brilla una estela de agua como barba encanecida.
A path shall shine after him, he shall esteem the deep as growing old.
33 Nada hay semejante a él sobre la tierra. Fue hecho exento de temor.
There is no power upon earth that can be compared with him who was made to fear no one.
34 Menosprecia todo lo elevado. Es rey de todos los hijos del orgullo.
He beholdeth every high thing, he is king over all the children of pride.
