Job 12
1 Job respondió:
And Job answered and said,
2 Entonces ciertamente ustedes son el pueblo, y con ustedes se acaba la sabiduría.
No doubt but ye [are] the people, and wisdom shall die with you.
3 Pero yo tengo entendimiento como ustedes. No soy menos que ustedes. ¿Quién no sabe tales cosas?
But I have understanding as well as you; I [am] not inferior to you: yes, who knoweth not such things as these?
4 Yo soy alguien que para su amigo es motivo de risa, uno que clamó a ʼElohim y le respondió. ¡El justo e intachable es un payaso!
I am [as] one mocked by his neighbor, who calleth upon God, and he answereth him: the just upright [man is] derided.
5 El que tiene bienestar desprecia la calamidad como algo preparado para aquellos que resbalan.
He that is ready to slip with [his] feet [is as] a lamp despised in the thought of him that is at ease.
6 Prosperan las tiendas de los ladrones y los que provocan a ʼEL están seguros, aquellos que ʼEloah trae a su poder.
The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth [abundantly].
7 En efecto, pregunta ahora a las bestias, y ellas te enseñarán, a las aves del cielo, y ellas te lo dirán.
But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:
8 O habla a la tierra, y te enseñará. Los peces del mar también te lo declararán.
Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare to thee.
9 ¿Cuál de ellos no sabe que la mano de Yavé hizo esto,
Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this?
10 que en su mano está la vida de todo viviente y el hálito de toda la humanidad?
In whose hand [is] the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.
11 ¿No distingue el oído las palabras y el paladar prueba la comida?
Doth not the ear try words? and the mouth taste its food?
12 En los ancianos está la sabiduría y en la larga edad el entendimiento.
With the ancient [is] wisdom; and in length of days understanding.
13 Con Él están la sabiduría y el poder. Suyos son el consejo y el entendimiento.
With him [is] wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.
14 Si Él derriba, no será reedificado. Si Él encierra al hombre, no hay liberación.
Behold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again: he shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.
15 Si Él retiene las aguas, se secan, y si las suelta, inundan la tierra.
Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.
16 Con Él están la fortaleza y la sana sabiduría. Suyos son el que yerra y el que hace errar.
With him [is] strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver [are] his.
17 Hace andar descalzos a los consejeros y entontece a los jueces.
He leadeth counselors away spoiled, and maketh the judges fools.
18 Suelta las ataduras que imponen los reyes y ata con una cuerda sus cinturas.
He looseth the bond of kings, and girdeth their loins with a girdle.
19 Hace ir descalzos a los sacerdotes y derriba a los poderosos.
He leadeth princes away spoiled, and overthroweth the mighty.
20 Priva del habla a los de confianza, y del discernimiento a los ancianos.
He removeth away the speech of the trusty, and taketh away the understanding of the aged.
21 Derrama desprecio sobre los nobles y afloja el cinturón de los fuertes.
He poureth contempt upon princes, and weakeneth the strength of the mighty.
22 Descubre las profundidades de la oscuridad y saca a la luz la sombra de muerte.
He revealeth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth to light the shades of death.
23 Engrandece las naciones y las destruye. Ensancha los pueblos y los suprime.
He increaseth nations, and destroyeth them: he enlargeth nations, and straiteneth them [again].
24 Priva de discreción a los caudillos de los pueblos de la tierra y los hace deambular por un desierto sin camino.
He taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness [where there is] no way.
25 No tienen luz. Palpan en la oscuridad, y los hace tambalearse como ebrios.
They grope in the dark without light, and he maketh them to stagger like [a] drunken [man].
