Jeremías 6
1 ¡Huyan de Jerusalén, oh hijos de Benjamín! Toquen la trompeta en Tecoa. Levanten una señal sobre Bet-haquerem, porque una calamidad y una gran destrucción se asoma desde el norte.
Assemble, O ye children of Benjamin, to flee out of the midst of Jerusalem, and in Tekoa, blow the cornet, and on Beth-hakkerem set up a fire signal; for evil is seen [coming] out of the north, and great havoc.
2 Destruiré a la hermosa y deleitable hija de Sion.
The comely and the delicate, the daughter of Zion do I destroy.
3 Hacia ella acuden pastores con sus rebaños. Junto a ella plantan sus tiendas alrededor. Cada uno apacienta en su lugar.
Unto her shall come shepherds with their flocks; they shall pitch their tents against her round about; they shall feed off every one his own place.
4 ¡Proclamen guerra santa contra ella! ¡Levántense y ataquemos el sur! ¡Ay de nosotros, porque el día declina, porque se extienden las sombras de la llegada de la noche!
Prepare ye war against her! “Arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe unto us! for the day waneth, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out.
5 Levántense, ataquemos de noche y destruyamos sus palacios.
Arise, and let us go up by night, and let us destroy her palaces.”
6 Porque Yavé de las huestes dice: Corten árboles, levanten terraplén contra Jerusalén. Ésta es la ciudad que debe ser castigada. Toda ella es solo opresión.
For thus hath said the Lord of hosts, Cut ye down trees, and cast up a mound against Jerusalem: this is the city whose time of punishment is come; she is full of oppression in her midst.
7 Como el manantial nunca deja de manar agua, así de ella brota su perversidad. En ella se oye hablar de violencia y destrucción. Sus enfermedades y heridas están continuamente delante de Mí.
As a well sendeth forth its waters, so doth she cause her wickedness to spring forth: violence and robbery are heard in her; in my presence there are continually disease and wounds.
8 Corrígete, oh Jerusalén, no sea que mi alma se aparte de ti, no sea que te conviertas en una desolación, en tierra no habitada.
Be thou instructed, O Jerusalem, that my soul tear itself not away from thee; that I render thee not desolate, a land which is not inhabited.
9 Yavé de las huestes dice: Rebuscarán completamente al remanente de Israel, como el que cosecha las uvas rebusca entre las ramas.
Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, They shall thoroughly glean like a vine the remnant of Israel: carry back thy hand as a grape-gatherer frequently to the baskets.
10 ¿A quién tengo que hablar y amonestar para que escuchen? En verdad sus oídos están sordos y no pueden escuchar. Ciertamente la Palabra de Yavé es un oprobio para ellos. No tienen deleite en ella.
To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot be attentive: behold, the word of the Lord is become unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.
11 Por tanto estoy lleno de la ira de Yavé. Estoy cansado de refrenarme. Derrámala sobre el niño en la calle y sobre la reunión de los jóvenes. Porque tanto el esposo como la esposa serán presos, tanto el anciano como el que está lleno de días.
And I am full of the fury of the Lord; I am weary with sustaining it: [I must] pour it out over the child in the street, and over the assembly of young men together; for even the husband with the wife shall be seized, the aged with him that is full of days.
12 Sus casas serán traspasadas a otros, y también sus campos y sus esposas. Porque extenderé mi mano contra los habitantes de la tierra, dice Yavé.
And their houses shall be transferred unto others, fields and wives together; for I will stretch out my hand over the inhabitants of the land, saith the Lord.
13 Porque desde el menor de ellos hasta el mayor, cada uno persigue ganancias deshonestas. Desde el profeta hasta el sacerdote, todos ellos actúan con engaño.
For from their least even unto their greatest, every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one practiseth falsehood.
14 Curan la llaga de mi pueblo con liviandad, pues dicen: ¡Paz! ¡Paz! Y no hay paz.
And they heal the breach of the daughter of my people very lightly, saying, Peace, peace: when there is no peace.
15 ¿Se avergonzaron porque cometieron repugnancia? ¡No! Ciertamente de nada se avergüenzan, ni aun saben ruborizarse. Por tanto, caerán entre los que caen, en el tiempo cuando Yo los castigue. Serán derribados, dice Yavé.
They should have been ashamed, because they had committed an abomination; but they neither felt the least shame, nor did they know how to blush: therefore shall they fall among those that fall; at the time that I punish their sin shall they stumble, saith the Lord.
16 Yavé dice: Deténganse en los caminos y miren. Pregunten por las sendas antiguas, cuál es el camino bueno. Anden por él y hallen descanso para sus almas. Pero ellos dijeron: No andaremos por él.
Thus hath said the Lord, Place yourselves on the ways, and see, and ask after the ancient paths, where is the way which is good, that ye may walk thereon, and find rest for your soul. But they said, We will not walk [thereon].
17 También puse centinelas sobre ustedes para que les dijeran: Oigan el sonido de la trompeta. Pero ellos dijeron: No oiremos.
Then did I set watchmen over you, [saying, ] Listen to the sound of the cornet. But they said, We will not listen.
18 Por tanto oigan, naciones, y sepa, oh congregación lo que hay entre ellos.
Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O assembly, what [guilt] is among them.
19 Oye, oh tierra: Ciertamente Yo traigo la calamidad sobre este pueblo, el fruto de sus pensamientos. Porque no atendieron mis Palabras y desecharon mi Ley.
Hear, O earth! behold, I will bring evil upon this people, the fruit of their thoughts; because unto my words have they not been attentive, and as regardeth my law, —that have they despised.
20 ¿Para qué viene a Mí este incienso de Sabá y la buena caña aromática de países lejanos? Sus holocaustos no me son aceptos y sus sacrificios no me agradan.
To what purpose serveth me the frankincense which cometh from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far-off country? your burnt-offerings are not acceptable, and your sacrifices are not agreeable unto me.
21 Por tanto, Yavé dice: En verdad, Yo pongo tropiezos delante de este pueblo. En ellos caerán juntos padres e hijos, también el vecino y el amigo. Perecerán.
Therefore thus hath said the Lord, Behold, I will place before this people stumbling-blocks, and thereon shall stumble the fathers and the sons together, the neighbor and his friend, and they shall perish.
22 Yavé dice: Ciertamente viene un pueblo de la tierra del norte. Una nación grande se levantará de los confines de la tierra.
Thus hath said the Lord, Behold, a people is coming from the north country, and a great nation shall wake up from the farthest ends of the earth.
23 Empuñan el arco y la pica que se lanza. Son crueles. No tienen misericordia. Su voz ruge como el mar. Vienen montados sobre caballos como un solo guerrero, dispuestos contra ti, oh hija de Sion.
Bow and spear shall they firmly grasp; cruel are they, and will have no mercy; their voice roareth like the sea; and upon horses do they ride; set in array as one man for the war, against thee, O daughter of Zion.
24 Oímos su fama y se debilitan nuestras manos. La angustia se apodera de nosotros, dolores como de mujer que da a luz.
We have heard the fame of him—our hands grow feeble: anguish hath taken hold of us, pain, as of a woman in giving birth.
25 No salgas al campo, ni andes por el camino, porque allí está la espada del enemigo, y el terror está por todas partes.
Go not forth into the field, on the road must ye not walk; for [there is] the sword of the enemy, terror on every side.
26 Átate tela áspera y revuélcate en ceniza, oh hija de mi pueblo. Haz duelo como por hijo único y lamento de gran amargura, porque viene súbitamente el destructor sobre nosotros.
O daughter of my people, gird thyself with sackcloth, and roll thyself in the ashes: a mourning as for an only son prepare unto thee, a most bitter lamentation; for suddenly will the destroyer come over us.
27 Te puse en medio de mi pueblo como centinela. Conoce, pues, y observa el camino de ellos.
I have set thee for a tower and a fortress among my people, that thou mayest know and probe their way.
28 Todos ellos son rebeldes, obstinados. Andan chismeando. Todos son bronce y hierro. Todos son corruptos.
They all are grievous revolters, going about as talebearers, copper and iron: they all are corrupt.
29 Se quema el fuelle porque el fuego consume el plomo. Pero en vano refina el refinador, pues la escoria no se desprende.
The bellows are burnt, by the fire the lead is consumed: in vain the melter refineth; for the wicked are not separated away.
30 Serán llamados plata reprobada, porque Yavé los desechó.
Refuse silver men call them; because the Lord hath rejected them.
