Jeremías 41
1 Pero el mes séptimo aconteció que Ismael, hijo de Netanías, hijo de Elisama, de la descendencia real, y algunos oficiales del rey y diez hombres con él, llegaron a visitar a Gedalías, hijo de Ahicam, en Mizpa. Allí compartieron juntos el pan.
But in the seuenth moneth came Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah, the sonne of Elishama of the seede royall, and the princes of the King, and tenne men with him, vnto Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam to Mizpah, and there they did eate bread together in Mizpah.
2 Pero Ismael, hijo de Netanías, y los diez hombres que estaban con él, se levantaron e hirieron a espada a Gedalías, hijo de Ahicam, hijo de Safán. Mataron a aquél a quien el rey de Babilonia autorizó para gobernar la tierra.
Then arose Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah with these tenne men that were with him, and smote Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam the sonne of Shaphan with the sword, and slewe him, whom the King of Babel had made gouernour ouer the lande.
3 Ismael también mató a todos los judíos que estaban con Gedalías en Mizpa, junto con todos los guerreros caldeos que estaban allí.
Ishmael also slewe all the Iewes that were with Gedaliah at Mizpah, and all the Caldeans that were found there, and the men of warre.
4 Un día después de asesinar a Gedalías, cuando aún nadie lo sabía,
Now the second day that he had slaine Gedaliah, and no man knewe it,
5 sucedió que llegaron ciertos hombres de Siquem, de Silo y de Samaria, unos 80 hombres, con sus barbas raídas, sus ropas rasgadas y sus cuerpos sajados, que traían consigo ofrendas e incienso para presentarlos en la Casa de Yavé.
There came men from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, euen fourescore men, hauing their beardes shauen, and their clothes rent and cut, with offerings and incense in their hands to offer in the house of the Lord.
6 Ismael, hijo de Netanías, les salió al encuentro desde Mizpa, y lloraba mientras caminaba, hasta cuando los encontró, y les dijo: Vengan a ver a Gedalías, hijo de Ahicam.
And Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah went forth from Mizpah to meete them, weeping as he went: and when he met them, he said vnto them, Come to Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam.
7 Pero al llegar ellos a la ciudad, Ismael, hijo de Netanías, los degolló, y apoyado por sus hombres, los echó dentro de una cisterna.
And when they came into the middes of the citie, Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah slewe them, and cast them into the middes of the pit, he and the men that were with him.
8 Entre aquéllos fueron hallados diez hombres que dijeron a Ismael: No nos mates, porque tenemos en el campo tesoros de trigo, cebada, aceite y miel. Y desistió y no los asesinó como a sus hermanos.
But tenne men were founde among them, that saide vnto Ishmael, Slay vs not: for we haue treasures in the fielde, of wheate, and of barley, and of oyle, and of honie: so he stayed, and slew them not among their brethren.
9 La cisterna donde Ismael echó todos los cadáveres de los hombres que asesinó junto con Gedalías, era la misma que el rey Asa hizo a causa de Baasa, rey de Israel. Ismael, hijo de Netanías, la llenó de cadáveres.
Now the pit wherein Ishmael had cast the dead bodies of the men (whom he had slayne because of Gedaliah) is it, which Asa the King had made because of Basha King of Israel, and Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah filled it with them that were slaine.
10 Después Ismael llevó cautivo a todo el resto del pueblo que estaba en Mizpa, a las hijas del rey y a todos los del pueblo que quedaron en Mizpa, y que Nabuzaradán, capitán de la guardia, encomendó a Gedalías, hijo de Ahicam. Ismael, hijo de Netanías, los llevó cautivos y procedió a pasarse a los hijos de Amón.
Then Ishmael caryed away captiue all the residue of the people that were in Mizpah, euen the Kings daughters, and all the people that remained in Mizpah, whom Nebuzar-adan the chiefe steward had committed to Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam, and Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah caried them away captiue, and departed to goe ouer to the Ammonites.
11 Pero como Johanán, hijo de Carea, y todos los oficiales de los guerreros que estaban con él, supieron de todo el mal que hizo Ismael, hijo de Netanías,
But when Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and all the captaines of the hoste that were with him, heard of all the euill that Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah had done,
12 tomaron a todos los hombres y fueron a luchar contra Ismael, hijo de Netanías, a quien hallaron junto al gran estanque de Gabaón.
Then they all tooke their men, and went to fight with Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah, and founde him by ye great waters that are in Gibeon.
13 Aconteció que cuando los del pueblo que estaban con Ismael divisaron a Johanán, hijo de Carea, junto con los oficiales de los guerreros, se alegraron.
Nowe when all the people whom Ishmael caryed away captiue, sawe Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and all the captaines of the hoste, that were with him, they were glad.
14 Todo el pueblo que Ismael llevó cautivo desde Mizpa se volvió y regresó con Johanán, hijo de Carea.
So all the people, that Ishmael had caryed away captiue from Mizpah, returned and came againe, and went vnto Iohanan the sonne of Kareah.
15 Pero Ismael, hijo de Netanías, escapó de Johanán con ocho hombres y fue a estar con los hijos de Amón.
But Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah, escaped from Iohanan with eight men, and went to the Ammonites.
16 Johanán, hijo de Carea, y todos sus oficiales con él, recogieron al resto del pueblo que Ismael, hijo de Netanías, apresó en Mizpa, después de asesinar a Gedalías, hijo de Ahicam, esto es, guerreros, mujeres, niños y servidores del palacio, liberados por Johanán en Gabaón.
Then tooke Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and all the captaines of the hoste that were with him, all the remnant of the people, whom Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah had caried away captiue from Mizpah, (after that he had slaine Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam) euen the strong men of warre, and the women, and the children, and the eunuches, whom hee had brought againe from Gibeon:
17 Salieron y asentaron en el Mesón Quimam, que está cerca de Belén, a fin de proseguir a Egipto,
And they departed and dwelt in Geruth Chimham, which is by Beth-lehem, to goe and to enter into Egypt,
18 porque temían a los caldeos, por cuanto Ismael, hijo de Netanías, asesinó a Gedalías, hijo de Ahicam, a quien el rey de Babilonia autorizó como gobernador de la tierra.
Because of the Caldeans: for they feared them, because Ishmael ye sonne of Nethaniah had slaine Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam, whom the King of Babel made gouernour in the land.
