Isaías 38

1 En aquellos días Ezequías cayó enfermo de muerte. [El] profeta Isaías, hijo de Amoz, fue a él y le dijo: Yavé dice: Ordena tu casa, porque morirás y no vivirás.

In those days Hezekiah fell sick unto death; and there came unto him Isaiah the son of Amoz, the prophet, and said unto him, Thus hath said the Lord, Give thy charge to thy house; for thou shalt die, and not live.

2 Entonces Ezequías volvió su rostro hacia la pared y habló a Yavé:

Then did Hezekiah turn his face to the wall, and prayed unto the Lord.

3 Oh Yavé, te ruego que te acuerdes ahora que he andado delante de ti en verdad con íntegro corazón e hice lo bueno ante tus ojos. Lloró Ezequías con gran llanto.

And he said, O Lord, I beseech thee remember now that I have walked before thee in truth, and with an undivided heart, and have done what is good in thy eyes. And Hezekiah wept aloud.

4 Entonces la Palabra de Yavé vino a Isaías:

Then came the word of the Lord to Isaiah, saying,

5 Vé y dí a Ezequías: Yavé, ʼElohim de David, tu antepasado, dice: Escuché tu oración y vi tus lágrimas. Mira, añado a tus días otros 15 años.

Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus hath said the Lord, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years.

6 Además, te libraré de la mano del rey de Asiria, a ti y a esta ciudad, a la cual ampararé.

And out of the hand of the king of Assyria will I deliver thee and this city; and I will shield this city.

7 Esto te servirá de señal de que Yavé hará lo que dijo:

And this shall be unto thee the sign from the Lord, that the Lord will do this thing which he hath spoken:

8 Ciertamente Yo hago retroceder diez gradas la sombra del sol que descendió en la gradería de Acaz. Y el sol volvió atrás diez gradas, sobre las cuales había descendido.

Behold, I will cause the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down on the dial of Achaz by the sun, to return backward ten degrees. So the sun returned ten degrees, by the degrees which he was gone down.

9 Escrito de Ezequías, rey de Judá, después de su enfermedad y recuperación:

The writing of Hezekiah the king of Judah, when he had been sick, and was recovered of his sickness:

10 Yo dije: En lo mejor de mis días entraré por las puertas del Seol. Soy privado del resto de mis años. (Sheol h7585)

I had said, In the midst of my days, must I enter the gates of the nether world; I am deprived of the residue of my years. (Sheol h7585)

11 Dije: No veré a YA en la tierra de los vivientes. No volveré a ver hombre con los habitantes del mundo.

I had said, I shall not see the Lord, the Lord, in the land of the living: I shall not behold man any more among the inhabitants of the regions of death.

12 Mi habitación es levantada y enrollada como tienda de pastor. Enrollaste mi vida como tejedor. Me cortaste del hilo del tejido. Me consumes entre el día y la noche.

My dwelling is broken down, and is removed from me as a shepherd's tent: I have cut off, like a weaver, my life; with pining sickness will he snatch me away: from day until night wilt thou make an end of me.

13 Duraba mi clamor hasta el amanecer. Rompes todos mis huesos como león. Me acabarás entre el día y la noche.

I waited [with patience] till morning, [whether] as a lion, so would he break all my bones: from day until night wilt thou make an end of me.

14 Yo chillaba como un ave zancuda o como golondrina. Gemía como paloma. Mis ojos lloraban y miraban hacia lo alto: ¡Oh Yavé, estoy angustiado! ¡Asume responsabilidad por mí!

Like a swallow or a crane, so did I chirp; I did moan like a dove; my eyes were lifted up on high: O Lord, I am oppressed; grant me ease.

15 ¿Qué puedo decir, Si Él es el que lo hace? En la amargura de mi alma, andaré todos mis años con inquietud.

What shall I speak? he hath promised it unto me, and he hath also accomplished it; I will make pilgrimages [to God's house] all my years because of the bitterness of my soul.

16 Oh ʼAdonay, los hombres viven según estas cosas, Y en todas ellas está la vida de mi espíritu: Restáurame la salud y permíteme vivir.

O Lord, by these [things men] will live, and in all these [things] is the life of my spirit: so wilt thou give me health, and cause me to live.

17 Ciertamente me vino amargura grande en [tiempo de] paz, Pero libraste mi vida del hoyo de la corrupción, Porque echaste todos mis pecados tras tu espalda.

Behold, for peace I had great bitterness; but thou hast, in loving my soul, delivered it from the pit of corruption; for thou hast cast behind thy back all my sins.

18 El Seol no te exaltará, ni la muerte te alabará, ni esperarán en tu fidelidad los que bajan al sepulcro. (Sheol h7585)

For the nether world will not thank thee, death will not praise thee: they that go down into the pit will not hope for thy truth. (Sheol h7585)

19 El que vive te alaba como yo hoy. El padre enseñará tu fidelidad a sus hijos.

The living, the living alone shall thank thee, like me this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth.

20 Yavé me salvará. Por tanto cantaremos nuestros cánticos en la Casa de Yavé todos los días de nuestra vida.

The Lord is there to help me; therefore we will play my hymns all the days of our life in the house of the Lord.

21 Isaías dijo: Tomen una masa de higos. Aplíquenla sobre la úlcera y sanará.

And Isaiah had said, Let them take a lump of figs, and lay it for a plaster upon the inflammation, and he shall recover.

22 Eso, porque Ezequías preguntó: ¿Qué señal tendré de que subiré a la Casa de Yavé?

And Hezekiah had said, What is the sign that I shall go up to the house of the Lord?
