Isaías 33
1 ¡Ay de ti, destructor que no fuiste destruido, y del que traiciona y no fue traicionado! Tan pronto como acabes de destruir serás destruido. Tan pronto como acabes de traicionar, serás traicionado.
Alas! thou plunderer when, thou, hadst not been plundered, And thou traitor when they had not betrayed thee: When thou hast ceased plundering, thou shalt be plundered, When thou hast left off betraying, they shall betray thee.
2 Oh Yavé, ten misericordia de nosotros. En Ti fijamos nuestra esperanza. Sé nuestra fortaleza cada mañana. Sé también nuestra salvación en el tiempo de aflicción.
O Yahweh! shew us favour, —For thee, have we waited, —Be thou their arm every morning, Yea our salvation in the time of distress.
3 Los pueblos huyen ante el sonido de tu voz atronadora. Al levantarte se dispersan las naciones.
At the noise of a tumult, the peoples retreated, —When thou didst lift thyself up, nations were scattered.
4 Tu despojo será recogido como el saltamonte recoge. Se abalanzarán sobre él como langostas.
Then shall your spoil be gathered as the gathering of the caterpillar, —As the swift running of locusts, is he about to run upon them.
5 Exaltado es Yavé porque Él mora en las alturas. Él llenó de justicia y equidad a Sion.
Exalted is Yahweh, for he inhabiteth a height, —He hath filled Zion with justice and righteousness.
6 Habrá estabilidad de los tiempos de ustedes, una abundancia de salvación, sabiduría y conocimiento. El temor reverente a Yavé es el tesoro de Él.
So shall a wealth of deliverances, wisdom and knowledge, become the stability of thy times, —the reverence of Yahweh, the same is his treasure.
7 Ciertamente sus valientes claman en las calles. Los embajadores de paz lloran amargamente.
Lo! their heroes, have cried out openly, —the messengers of peace, in bitterness, continue weeping [they say]:
8 Los caminos están abandonados, los caminantes cesaron. Él anuló el Pacto, desprecia las ciudades, a ningún hombre tiene en cuenta.
The highways are deserted, The passer-by on the path, hath ceased, —He hath broken covenant, He hath despised cities, He hath made no account of men.
9 La tierra gime y languidece. El Líbano está confundido y se marchita. Sarón es como un llano desolado. Basán y la montaña Carmelo pierden [su follaje].
The land mourneth, languisheth, Lebanon, displayeth shame, is withered, —Sharon, hath become, as the waste plain, And Bashan and Carmel are shaking off their leaves.
10 Ahora me levantaré, dice Yavé. Ahora seré exaltado. Ahora seré engrandecido.
Now, will I arise, Saith Yahweh, Now, will I lift myself up, Now, will I be exalted!
11 Concibieron hojarasca y dieron a luz rastrojo. Su propia respiración será un fuego que los consumirá.
Ye shall conceive chaff Ye shall bring forth stubble, —Your own breath, like fire, shall devour you.
12 Los pueblos serán completamente calcinados. Como espinos cortados serán quemados en el fuego.
So shall peoples, become, as the burnings of lime, —As thorns lopped off, with fire, shall they be burned.
13 Ustedes quienes están lejos, escuchen lo que hice. Ustedes quienes están cerca conozcan mi poder.
Hear—ye that are far off. what I have done, And know—ye that are near my might:
14 Los pecadores están atemorizados en Sion. El temblor se apoderó de los impíos. ¿Quién de nosotros puede vivir en el fuego consumidor? ¿Quién de nosotros puede vivir eternamente en carbones encendidos?
Terror-stricken in Zion, —are sinners, Shuddering hath seized the impious, —Who among us can sojourn with a fire that devoureth? Who among us can sojourn with burnings age-abiding?
15 El que anda en justicia y habla con rectitud, el que rehúsa el lucro de violencias, el que sacude su mano para no recibir soborno, el que tapa sus oídos para no escuchar propuestas sanguinarias, el que cierra sus ojos para no ver lo malo.
He that walketh righteously, And speaketh uprightly, —He that refuseth the gain of exactions That shaketh his hands free from holding a bribe, That stoppeth his ear from hearkening to deeds of blood, And shutteth his eyes from giving countenance to wrong,
16 Éste vivirá en las alturas. Una fortaleza de roca será su refugio. Se le dará su pan, y sus aguas estarán seguras.
He, the heights, shall inhabit, A stronghold of crags, shall be his refuge, —His bread, hath been delivered, His waters, have been made sure,
17 Tus ojos contemplarán al Rey en su esplendor. Verán una gran tierra a la distancia.
Of a king, in his beauty, shall thine eyes have vision: They shall see a land that stretcheth afar.
18 Tu corazón reflexionará con respecto al horror y dirá: ¿Dónde está el escriba? ¿Dónde está el que pesaba el tributo? ¿Dónde está el que inspeccionaba las torres?
Thy heart, may murmur in terror, —Where is the scribe? Where—the receiver? Where—he that maketh a list of the towers?
19 Ya no verás más a aquel pueblo fiero, aquel pueblo de lengua difícil de entender, que pronuncia un lenguaje incomprensible.
The fierce people, shalt thou not see, —The people of too deep a lip to be understood, of too barbarous a tongue for thee to comprehend.
20 Contempla a Sion, la ciudad de nuestras solemnidades. Tus ojos verán a Jerusalén, morada tranquila, tienda que nunca será desamparada. Sus estacas nunca se arrancarán, ni será rota alguna de sus cuerdas.
Look thou on Zion, the city of our appointed feast, —Thine own eyes, shall see Jerusalem—A home of comfort A tent which shall not be packed up—Whose pins shall not be pulled out, for ever, And none of, whose cords, shall be broken.
21 Porque ciertamente allí Yavé será poderoso con nosotros, en un lugar de ríos y corrientes amplias en los cuales no navegarán embarcaciones de remos, ni por ellas pasará nave grande.
But, there shall Yahweh be our majestic one, A place of rivers—streams broad on both hands, Wherein shall go no galley with oars, Neither shall majestic ship traverse it;
22 Porque Yavé es nuestro Juez. Yavé es nuestro Legislador. Yavé es nuestro Rey. Él mismo nos salvará.
For, Yahweh is our judge, Yahweh, is our lawgiver, —Yahweh, is our king, He will save us!
23 Tus cuerdas se aflojaron. No afirmaron su mástil. No entesaron la vela. Entonces se repartirá un botín de muchos despojos. Los cojos arrebatarán el botín.
Loosed are thy ropes, —They cannot strengthen the socket of their mast They have not unfurled a sail Now, can be apportioned spoil, in abundance, The lame, have captured prey!
24 Ningún habitante dirá: Estoy enfermo, pues al pueblo que more en ella le será perdonada su iniquidad.
Neither shall the inhabitant say. I am sick, —the people who dwell therein, have been forgiven iniquity.
